さて、今日は朝早く起きてアダムを見送ります。今回は前後スペアタイヤ（ウユニの街で履き替えるそう）、20リットルのガソリンタンク（ツアーの4WDに運んでもらい、途中で受け取る予定）を積んでいるので、いつも軽装のアダムにしてはてんこ盛りの出発となりました。運が良ければウユニ塩原で再会できそうですが、まぁ、いつワシのショックが届くかわからないので、どうなりますかね。とにかく、友よ良い旅を!! Buen viaje y suerte!!

9時半頃にマルセロさんが訪ねてきて、ウベとワシを友達の工房へ案内してくれました。

工房の主人の名前はイェルコ。腕はいいけどちょっと変わり者らしく、独りで工房を切り盛りしているそう。早速相談すると、ウベの溶接もワシのショックの修理も出来ると。2時に戻ってくることに。

一旦Motoserviに行きハイメさんにこのことを報告。イェルコはハイメさんの友人でもあるそうな。「彼はいい腕を持ってるから」、と。しかしワシのショックの修理に関しては「ガスの注入はバルブを作らなきゃなんないよ、きっと」と。しかし一応ショックを持って行き見せてみることに。

2時まで宿で休憩。USPSに金曜日メールで問い合わせましたが、何にも答えはないのに、アンケート・メールが来ました。「今回のサービスはどうでしたか?」と。ふざけていますね、USPS。　

再びイェルコの工房へ。ウベの溶接にはフレームと同じ材料のクローム・モリブデン鋼を使うのが一番なのですが、イェルコは持っていないと・・・。朝それ話したじゃん。

ワシのショックもやはりバルブを作らなければ、とのこと。ハイメさんの言うとおりですね。結局ウベもイェルコに溶接をしてもらうのは止めて、ハイメさんを頼ることに。

Motoserviに戻り、事の顛末を報告。とりあえずクローム・モリブデン鋼を入手することに。

3時からスペイン語教室へ。放課後宿に戻りスージーたちと歓談。その後メールをチェックしたら、ショックの売り手から報告が。USPSに問い合わせたところ、ショックの行方が把握できないと。今調査中なので5日以内に連絡が無ければもう一度電話で問い合わせを、とUSPSからの返事だったそう・・・。っていうことは紛失か!!??

夕飯はウベとフライド・チキンを。

さて、一体どうすればいいのでしょうか??　もうしばらく待つか、それともハイメさんに修理してもらうか、チリにWilbersのショックを発注するか。いずれにしても荷物が紛失したとなると560ドルがパァです。

ウベも材料を手に入れるまで動けないので、しばらく2人で沈没ですね・・・。


Day 428: 26 SEP 2011

I got up early to see Adam off. He was usually travelling light, but this time he was carrying 2 spare tyres (he will change them in Uyuni) and a 20L fuel tank (he will organise a fuel dropping by a tour operator), so his DR650 looked overloaded.

Depending on when my shock will arrive here, but I am hoping we can catch up in Salar de Uyuni. Nos vemos pronto y buen viaje, mi amigo!!

Around 9:30am, Marcelo came to the hostel and took us to his friend Yerko's workshop. Yerko said he could weld Uwe's broken frame with MAC welding and could rebuild my shock. So we made an appointment with him at 2pm.

We went to Motoservi and told Jaime of our plans. Yerko was a friend of Jaime as well, and Jaime said he had a good welding skill. But for my shock rebuilding, Jaime reckoned, Yerko would need to make a valve to insert gas. Just as Jaime was planning to do with my shock before.

Back to the hostel, we rested until 2pm. I received an e-mail from USPS. I thuought it was a reply to my inquiry, but it was a survey e-mail. USPS did not reply to my inquiry but asking me "How was the service?" That's insane....

Then we visited Yerko. Uwe made sure that he had the same material - Chromium Molybdernum steel for welding, but he did not have... Uwe asked Yerko this morning though.... And as Jaime said, Yerko also needto arrive now.ed to make a valve... 

Now Uwe and I though we should not go ahead with Yerko, so we returned to Motoservi. Jaime gave Uwe advises for getting the material, and he would contact Santa Cruz if they can send the material here. I just needed to wait for the shock to arrive here.

I went to the Spanish class at 3pm. Then back to the hostel, I received an e-mail from the seller of the shock. He checked with USPS, but they could not locate my shock!! They are checking now, but if he seller would not receive any reply within 5days, USPS asked him to call them back.... Soes this mean my shock is lost?? Really insane.

I don't know what to do now. Should I ask Jaime to rebuild the shock with a valve? Should I order a Wilbers shock in Santiago, Chile? Or should I jus wait for the shock from the States?? So Uwe and I will be shipwrecked here for a while....

今日は朝6時15分に起床。キャンプしてたら別に早い時間でもないんですけど、最近のダラケた生活を送っているワシにはキツイ!!　というか、アダムにもキツイ!!

しかも朝水道が止まってました。顔も洗えない・・・。クッキーを朝飯代わりに食べてMotoserviへ。ハイメさんと若い衆は既に起きていました。タクシーでコレクティーボ乗り場へ。

1時間とちょっとトコトコと車に揺られてタラブコへ。3週間前に同じ道をスクレまで走ってきたんですよね。もう3週間前!!　時間が経つのは早いですね。

タラブコに到着したのは9時前。まだ露店はチラホラと開店している状態。外国人観光客はワシ等だけでした。中央公園に大きな像があるのですが、1800年代にタラブコ族とスペイン軍の戦いを描いているもの。なんとタラブコ族の戦死がスペイン兵の心臓をえぐって喰らいついている、というちょっと過激な像でした。

お腹が空いたので先ずは軽く朝食。それから中央市場を見たり、露店を見たり。ワシの目を惹いたのはグアテマラから今までインディヘナの服装はほぼ変わらなかったのですが、タラブコ周辺のインディヘナ民族衣装はちょっと特別なんです。インディヘナの人は基本的に写真を撮られるのを嫌がるので写真は無いですが・・・。

街角を歩いていると鍛冶屋さんがありました。留守だったので中の写真を撮っていたら、鍛冶屋さんが帰ってきて、チップを請求されました。5ボリ。しかしお金を取るだけあって、農具を熱して叩いているところを撮影させてくれました。鍛冶屋さんの名前はマルティン（Martin）さん。おん歳67歳で、12歳から鍛冶を初めて55年。素敵です。

しばらく歩き「田舎っペ市場(Mercado Campesino)」へ。ここでは色鮮やかなジャガイモなどの野菜、肉、ハーブ、コカの葉、乾燥した脂身、などなどが売られています。


市場の外には運搬用トラックが駐車していましたが、その中の一台が「生鮮野菜　安達商店」とあります。日本でも野菜を運搬し、ボリビアでも野菜を運搬。やりますねトラック。もう一台は「産廃運搬」とありましたが、コーラなどの飲料運搬に使われていました。

なかなかお洒落な中庭のあるレストランで昼飯を食べて、それからスクレまでコレクティーボで帰りました。車の中で3人とも転寝。

宿に戻り、ウベが昨日知り合った地元のライダー・マルセロさんと知り合いました。ウベのフレームの溶接はどうやら出来るそうです。しかも彼の知り合いがどうやらワシのショックを修理できるそう（以前GSのショックを修理した知り合いがいるそうです）。なので明日再び宿に来て詳しい話をしてくれるそうです。既にショックはオーダーしましたが、届かない可能性もあるので、選択肢は広げたほうがいいので。

しばらく中庭でスージーやコーリたちと歓談し、夕飯へ。アダムと南米で最後の夕飯となるので、ちょっと贅沢に（最近贅沢しすぎですね）「Joy Ride」でチリ・コン・カルネを。

さて明日はアダム出発の日。彼を見送ってからウベの部屋に引越しです。それからマルセロさんの知り合いの工房を訪ねたり、タイヤを見に行ったり、とちょっと忙しい一日になりそうです。


Day 427: 25 SEP 2011

Adam and I woke up at 6:15am! If we were camping, it was not really early at all, but we had been lazy in Sucre for a while, so it was hard. 

We went to Motoservi to see Jaime, and we caught a taxi to a collectivo station. To Tarabuco, it took 1 hour and 15mins or so. I came the same way from La Higuera 3 weeks ago, 3 weeks!! I really neet to move on ASAP.

We arrived Tarabuco just before 9am. The street stands and shops were not fully ready and there was no any tourist (except us) so far. We had breakfast first and started to look around.

At the central plaza, there was a statue of a Tarabuco worrier and a Spanish solidier of 19th century. It was quite brutal one. The Tarabuco worrier got the Spanish soldier's heart and was eating it!!

What drew my attention was the costume of those Indigenas of Tarabuco was very different from other Indigenas. To me, from Guatemala, those costumes of Indigenas looked almost the same. Especially, those men were in their traditional costume, which was very unusual. As tehy did not like to be taken a photo, I did not take any.

When we passed a street, we saw a Blacksmith. In order to take his photos, we had to pay 5Bs, but he let us take photos while he was working and told us his story. He was 67 years old and started to work as a blacksmith whe he was 12! So he had been working for 55 years.

Then we walked to "Mercado de campesinos (farmers market)". There those vegetables, meats, herbs, dried fat of animals, coca leaves, colourful potatos were sold.

In front of the market, there were those tracks carrying veges, bottled drinks and so on. One of them were clearly from Japan (a used comercial vehicle). It was used to carry veges in Japan as well, so it was interesting to see that it was used for the same purpose in Bolivia as well.

We had lunch at a restaurant, then we tooka collectivo back to Sucre. We all were sleeping on the way back.

Back to the hostel, we met Marcelo - the local motorcyclist whom Uwe met on the way here - and he was telling Uwe to go to the workshop of his friend where he could weld his broken frame. He also said, at the same workshop my shock could be rebuilt. He said there was a guy with GS 1200 with the same problem got his shock rebuilt there.

So we will visit his friend's workshop and will see if he really can rebuild my shock. It is better to have more options in a situation like this.

Then we went for dinner with Susie @ Joy Ride as tomorrow Adam is leaving to Uyuni. I had Chili con Carne. It was a little expensive, but was good.

Day 426: 2011年9月24日

今日は土曜日。明日は早朝からタラブコを訪れるのでアダムと朝食を取るのは最後になりますので「Florin」にちょっと贅沢な朝飯を食べに行きました。これから恐らく数週間は殆どキャンプ生活なので。

昼前に宿に戻り、スージーとしばらく歓談。それからスーパーへ買出し。

アダムとメイン・プラザを歩いていたら、KTM990 Adventureが通り過ぎようとしました。「ウベだ!!!」。大声で呼び止めて再会を祝います。アダムはウベとラパスで再会していますが、ワシはクエンカで別れて以来なので3ヶ月ぶりの再会となりますね。宿の場所をウベに教えて、とりあえずワシ等はスーパーへ。

宿に戻り、ウベはサブフレームが折れてしまったので溶接が必要。2人乗りで「Motoservi」まで。ハイメさんと相談しましたが、素材がクローム・モリブデン鋼なので素材を手に入れるのが問題みたいです。酸素アセチレン溶接は出来るのですが、やはり溶接のプロに頼んだほうがいいだろうということで、月曜日に再訪することに。

4時から学校主催のバレーボール・クラブに参加。ボリビアのバレーボールは、手足頭など体のどの部分を使ってもよく、スカッシュみたいに壁にぶつけて跳ね返してもいいんです。ちょっとカジュアルで気軽にプレーが出来きて楽しいですね。6時まで2時間楽しみました。

夜はアダムとウベとピザ。そして「Florin」で軽く1・2杯。今までの旅のことやこれからのことなど色々話しました。

さて明日は早いので早めに寝ないと。ウベは色々やることがあるみたいなのでお留守番です。


Day 426: 24 SEP 2011

Adam and I went to have a big breakfast @ "Florin" as it would be his last chance to have a proper big breakfast for many weeks (he will spend lots of time in his tent).

Back to the hostel, we chat with Susie and went to the supermarket to stock up foods. When we were passing the main plaza, a KTM 990 Adventure was about passing us. "It's Uwe!!" We stopped him and embraced our reunion. We told him the location of the hostel and we went to the supermarket.

Back to the hostel, I took Uwe to Motoservi. He borke his sub-frame, so it needed to be weld properly. Jaime had oxyacetylene welding equipment, but as the sub-frame was made of Chomium Molybdernum steel, to get this material was the issue. Also we all thought it would be better done buy a welding specialist, so Jaime will take Uwe to his friend on Monday.

I went to play Bolivian Volleyball with my school teachers and friends from 4pm. The rule was different from ormal Volleyball. We could use head, feet and any parts of our body. And like Squash, we could use walls to bounce the ball into the court. It was casual and easier to play, so I had fun time until 6pm.

Adam, Uwe and I went to have pizza for dinner. After that we went to drink @ "Florin". We talked about our trips and other things.

Tomorrow Adam and I am going to Tarabuco with Jaime to see "Bolivia's best market". We are meeting him at 7am in front of Motoservi. Uwe will stay here as he needs to sort out a few things.

Day 425: 2011年9月23日

さて、今日でリア・ショックがマイアミの仕分けセンターに到着して一週間が経ちます。が、相変わらずトラッキングには何もアップデート無し。

試しにボリビアの郵便局のトラッキングで検索してみましたが、同じ結果。一週間も仕分けセンターに放置されているとは考えにくい。て、ことは小包は何処にあるんだ??　

アダムと昼飯を食べた後郵便局へ行ってみました。検索してもらいましたが、ボリビアにはまだ届いてないとのこと。普通5日で届くはずだと。うーん。

宿に戻りUSPSに電話してみましたが、機械が答えるだけで、何もつかめません。これは売り手側からUSPSに問い合わせをしてもらうしかないですね。

3時から学校。今日はPreterito Perfecto (現在完了形)を。

夜はアダムとケバブを。それにしても2日前にサマイパタを出た筈のウベが到着しません。フレームが折れたとのことなので、ゆっくり走ってるのでしょうが2日でここに到着する筈です。何かあったのでしょうか?　心配です。

I have not received the rear shock absorber yet. It's been a week since it was received and provcessed at the sort facility in Miami. Since then there is no any update on the tracking tool of USPS web site.

I accessed to the web page of Bolivian Post Office and checked on the tracking page. The result was the same.

It is hard to think the parcel siting at the sort facility for a week, but then where is my parcel now??

After having lunch with Adam, I went to the post office here in Sucre. I asked to check if the parcel had arrived. They said it had not ben to Bolivia yet. I asked how ling it would take to be shipped from the States and they said it would be 5 days....

I came back to the hostel and made a phone call to USPS, but what I got was a machine answered the phone.... Useless. Now I have to ask the seller to check from his end.

I went to the Spanish lesson at 3pm as usual. Today I learn Preterito Perfect (have done).

I had gyros for dinner with Adam. Uwe hasn't arrived here. He supposed to leave Samaipata yesterday, so he should be here by now. I wonder if something happend to him as he had the frame of his KTM broken...

Day 424: 2011年9月22日

さて今日は朝から沈んだ気分。何故かというと、豪州ドルが急下向。ワシの旅の資金は殆どが豪州ドルなのです。為替の変動は旅に大きな影響を与えます。まぁ、こればっかりは自分で制御できないので嘆いても仕方ないんですけどね。

ハイメさんを訪ねに「Motoservi」へ。Hozanから返答があったのですが製品を直接顧客には発送できないとのこと。ボリビアには代理店が無いのでチリかブラジルが代理店のある一番近い国になります。

訪ねてみるとハイメさんはヤマハ・エンジンのリボアリング最中。手作りの機械で!!
仕上がりもなかなかのものです。

Hozanからの返答を報告。「まぁ、チリに問い合わせてみるさ」と気軽な答え。流石ラテン・アメリカ人!　

そうそうウベが昨日サマイパタに到着したのですが、20キロ手前でフレームが折れたとか。KTM990 Adventureのフレームはクローム・モリブデン鋼で出来ているので酸素アセチレン溶接(Oxyacetylene Welding)でないといけないとのことで、サマイパタには電気溶接しかないので無理だそう。ハイメさんに酸素アセチレン溶接の器具は有りますか?と訊いたら、「あるよ」と。ウベは恐らく今日の夕方か明日にはスクレに到着する予定。

日曜日に日曜マーケットで有名な近郊（65km東）の村タラブコ(Tarabuco)にハイメさんと行くことになりました。

宿に戻りアダムと昼飯。「The Planets」の続きを見てから学校。今日は間接目的語の用法と単未来形を学びました。ますます複雑になってきますが、これをマスターすればワシのスペイン語学力は格段に上がるはずです。

夕方宿に戻りましたが、まだウベの姿はなし。豪州ドルが更に低下・・・。小包のトラッキングはアップデート無し。マイアミに着いてからもう一週間経ちますぜ。夜はアダムとサンドイッチ屋で夕飯。

さて明日にはなにか良い事有りますかね。

Well, I was a little upset from the morning as Aussie Dollar dropped a lot!! Now it's weaker than US Dollar. It used to be 7.5Bs against AU$1 when I came to Bolivia, but now 6.85Bs against AU$1!! As the most of my savings are in AU$, I have less money to spend now...

I went to visit Jaime @ Motoservi. I received a reply from Hozan Tool regarding the shipment of their tool directly to Bolivia. But the answer was "No". They are not dealing directly to a consumer. So Jaime has to buy from a dealer. However, there is no importer / dealer of Hozan in Bolivia. The closest one is in Chile or Brazil.

When I got to Motoservi, Jaime was reboring a Yamaha enjine with his hand-made machine! The finish was pretty good. I was amazed many things were hand crafted here in Bolivia.

My friend Uwe arrived Samaipata yesterday. But his frame was broken (KTM 990 Adventure) just 20km from Samaipata. As the frame was made of  chromium kmolybdernum steel, it needed to be weld with oxyacetylene welding, which wasn't available in Samaipata.

I asked Jaime if he had oxyacetylenewelding equipment, and he said "yes" and pointed it out. Now Uwe needs to ride 400km to Sucre. He would be here by this afternoon or tomorrow.

Jaime asked me if I was interested to visit Trabuco this sunday. The village of Trabuco is located 65km east of Sucre and is famous for its Sunday market. Of course I was interested, so we decided to visit there this sunday. 

Back to the hostel, Adam and I went to have lunch. Then I watched one more episod of BBC "The Planets" before I went to the Spanish lesson.

I studied "Pronombre de objecto indirect" and "Futuro simple". It was getting more complicated, but if I could master them, my ability of Spanish language would be pretty good. 

Back to the hostel around 6pm, Uwe was not there yet. Adam and I went out to have dinner at the sandwitch shop.

I found the tracking of my package (the rear shock absorber) had no any update since last friday and Aussie Dollar went down even more....

I am hoping that I will receive at least one good news tomorrow!!
