Bornheim, Germany (Das Haus von Friedel)

朝目覚めたら、雨が降っていた。小雨ではなく本降り。

It was raining when I woke up in the morning.

今日は土曜日。フレッドもアンドレアもまだ起きてこないから、ベッドにて昨日の日記を英語に訳す。

It's Saturday, so I stayed in the bed and updating my blog in English.

9時ごろ、フレッドとジーラの散歩に。

Around 9am, Friedel and I took Sira for a walk.



幸い雨は小降りになっていた。小雨ね。あ、あの小雨ではありませんよ、雨の小雨です。

Fortunately, the rain eased up and was raining a little. Yes, again, "Little Rain".



ここボーンヘイムは小さな街で辺りは森があったり。西ドイツ時代の首都ボンは直ぐそこなんだけれど、かなりのど田舎。

Here Bornheim is pretty small town surrounded by forests. Bonn - the capital of West Germany period is located nearby. To me, it was surprising that one of the most technologically advanced nation had its capital city in such place.

でもいい環境だよね。

But I like that. It's really a nice environment here.

小雨の降る中森の中を散歩。

We walked in the forest in the little rain.



相変わらずジーラは枝で遊ぶのが好き。

Sira loves playing with a stick.



最初は普通の枝を持って来て、「投げてくれ！」とやっていたけど、

She found a small stick and asking Friedel to throw it!

大きな枝を持って来て、「投げて！」、と。それはデカ過ぎて投げられないよ！

But then, she found a big branch and asking to throw it! It's too big!



家に戻る前にスーパーに寄って朝飯を調達。流石ドイツ、ハムやソーセージが充実している！

Before we went home, we made a short stop at a supermarket to buy breakfast stuffs. There were ranges of hams and sausages!



ハム、ソーセージ好きのワシにはたまりませんな！

As I love hams and sausages, just starling at them made me happy!

黒トリュフ入りのハムが売っている！100グラムで2ユーロくらい。え、トリュフってこんなにお手軽なのか!?

I found a package of ham with dark truffle. It costs ?2 for 100g! I didn't know it can be that affordable!



家に戻りアンドレアと朝食。スモーク・サーモンや先ほどのトリュフのハムなど。うーん、なんか贅沢だ。

Back home, we had a big breakfast!



屋根裏部屋に保管してあったワシの荷物を降ろして点検。旅が始まってから結構荷物を減らしたけど、まだまだ減らせそう。

Friedel and I brought down my stuffs from the attic. I have downsized my luggages since the beginning of the trip, but I think I can reduce some more.

出発前にもう一度本当にいるものだけを厳選しよう。

Before I take off here, I should go through stuffs to choose what I really need for the rest of my trip to Japan.

ビーチサンダルを靴屋とか大型スーパーに買いに。

I went to find a pair of flip flops at a shoe shop and a huge supermarket.

今度はワシが運転。BMWのマニュアルだ。

This time I drove a BMW with a manual transmission!

バイクと同じ構造とはいえ、足でクラッチの操作はなんか感覚がつかめない！

Even though the transmission is the same as a motorbike (well kind of), the feeling was so different to control the crutch with a foot!

何とか無事に到着。が、しかし、まだ時期が早くてどこにも置いてない…。やはり、そうきたか。

I arrived there without any accident! But as it was too early for summer, they haven't got it on stock...

それから、エスペランサにバッテリーを取り付けて、エンジン始動！

Then I reconnected the battery to Esperanza to start the engine!



が、しかし、なかなかエンジンがかからない…。

But it didn't start up...

もう少しでかかりそうなんだけど、やはりかからない。

It was almost coming, but wasn't.

そのうちバッテリーが上がってしまった。

Then the battery went flat...

予備のバッテリーにつないだけど、同じ結果。

We tried with a backup battery but the same result.



5ヶ月以上も冬眠させていたから、まぁ、仕方ないのかも。

As she was left here for more than 5 months, so it might be normal to be like this.

バッテリーを再び充電して今夜再度挑戦してみよう。

I recharge the battery again and will try it later in the evening.

さて、7時過ぎにヴィルフレッドの家まで車で。またまたワシの運転！

We went to Wilfried's place around 7pm. I drove the car again! Yes, I am the designated driver.

まぁ、なんとか無事にヴィルフレッド宅まで。

Without any crush, we got to the place safely!

今日は奥さんのエレナの誕生日パーティーなのだ。

It's the birthday party of Elena - Wilfried's wife!

大勢の友人たちが来ている。

Many guests came to the party!



ドイツ、というとビールとソーセージというイメージでしょう。

Beer and sausage are typical image of Germany, I suppose.

ワシはアルコールを飲めない体質だから残念ながらその旨いドイツのビールは飲めないんだけど、ソーセージは沢山食うぜ！

As I cannot drink any alcohol, so I cannot taste the great beers of Germany. Damn! But I eat lots of sausages!



で、以前に紹介したけどドイツ人は、特に北部では生の豚肉のミンチをパンに塗って食べるのだ！

I wrote the same last year but I must write it again. Here in northern part of Germany, it's common to have row minced pork! They put that on a slice of bread just like butter! I like it vet much! It's very tasty.



生の豚肉、っていうと日本では細菌とかで食べられないけど(特別に無菌じょうたいで飼育された豚は別だけどお高い万円)、こちらでは一般的！ワシも大好物！

In Japan, it's unimaginable to have row pork even though we eat row fish!

更に生豚のソーセージまで！

I was surprised to see row pork sausages!!!



これも美味い！

They wee yummy too!

みんなでワイワイ、12時過ぎまで。

We had a good time till late!



ヴィルフレッドとエレナにお礼をいってお暇。フレッドとアンドレアを乗せてワシが運転。

We thanked Wilfried and Elena for inviting us. Then I drove Friedel and Andrea safely home!

さて、バッテリーも再充電されていることだし、またエスペランサの再始動を試みる。

Now the battery was fully recharged! I must try to restart the engine of Esperanza.

何回かセルを回すけど、なかなかかからない…。

I pressed the starter, but she wasn't starting up so easily...

が、しかし、遂にかかった！

But finally she woke up!

アクセルを開けてしばらくレブをあげる。冷えたエンジンには良く無いんだけど一回エンジンを回さないとしょうがない。

I opened the throttle a bit to keep the rev high not to stole the engine.

しばらくしてようやくアイドリングも安定してきた！

After while, the idling became stabilised and it seemed to be good!

ヨッシャ！やったね。

Yeah!

これで明日はエンジンが普通にかかれば問題無し、でしょう。

If it starts up normally tomorrow, I should be relieved.

そんなこんなで結構テンコ盛りな一日だった。

It was a busy day!

さて、エスペランサは無事に再始動出来ました！
明日天気が良ければちょっと走らせたいところですが、明日も雨みたいです…。
