Day 552: 2012年1月28日

Rio Gallegos to Comodoro Rivadavia (Camping)

昨日は風が強かったのですが、今朝は大したことなし。快晴!!　今日は走るぞー!!　

7時半前に起きて出発の準備。8時過ぎには出発。しかし、リオ・ガジェゴスからプエルト・マドリン(Puerto Madryn)まではガソリンの供給が気になるところ。山田さんに訊いたら「ガソリンスタンドにガソリン無い場合があるし、有るスタンドには長蛇の列。」、だそうです。なので、予備タンクを購入することに。

ホームセンター（Ferreteria)は9時からの開店なのでしばらく店の前にて待ちます。待つのは時間の無駄に思えますが、ガス欠で止まったりガソリンスタンドにガソリンの供給が来るまで何日間待つよりかはマシです。

9時に開店し、プラスチック製の7.8リットルの缶を購入。116ペソ。ちと、高い。

予備タンクに給油して、どうやってバイクに括り付けるかで一苦労。横にするとガソリンが漏れてくるんです…。タイヤを積んでいるので、荷台には置けませんので、右パニアの上に取り付けました。バランス悪いですが、まぁ、いいでしょう。

結局リオ・ガジェゴスの街を後にしたのは10時頃。何処まで走れるかな。

220キロ先のLuis Piedora Buenaで給油。12時を回っていたのでここでサンドイッチの昼飯。更に140キロ先のPuerto San Juan、130キロ先のTres Cerrosにて給油。休憩をかねて全てのガソリンスタンドで給油することにしました。Tres Cerros辺りから急に風が強くなります。北西から南東に風が吹くので、首が右方向に折れそうで必死に支えます。これじゃぁ、筋肉痛になるよ。向かい風なので燃費も悪いです。

Fitz Royに到着したのは5時ごろ。ここからセレタ・オリビア（Caleta Olivia）まで70キロ。到着したのは6時過ぎ。「Camping]とサインが有ったので訪ねてみましたが、「休業中」とのこと。安宿をちょっと探しましたが、バイクは路上駐車となるし、あんまり雰囲気がいい街じゃないので、コモドロ・リバダビア（Comodoro Rivadavia)まで足を伸ばすことに。80キロ先です。

8時前に街に到着。まだ陽はあります。ガソリンスタンドでサンドイッチの夕飯を食べて、給油。宿はガイドブックでは高いので「キャンプ場は無いか」と訊ねましたが、「街の外」だとのこと。そうそう、この辺り一帯は石油が産出するようで、石油をくみ出すポンプが度々見えました。石油で発展している街なのですね。

この際ブッシュ・キャンプでもしようと、しばらく3号線を走っていたら、「Camping」とサインを発見。35ペソなのでここに泊まることに。時刻は8時半過ぎ。

今日は土曜日なのでアルゼンチンの家族連れが多いです。音楽ガンガンでBBQ（Parrilla=パリージャ）を始めました。もう10時過ぎ。陽は暮れましたが、彼らの夕飯はまだ始まりません。うーん、今日はしばらく寝れそうにも無いな。ブッシュ・キャンプにすればよかった、かも。


Day 552: 28 JAN 2012

Rio Gallegos to Comodoro Rivadavia (Camping)

The wind was clam this morning - a sunny day. I can ride a long distance today!!

I got up around 7:30am and was ready just after 8am. But I thought it would be better to get a jerrycan for just in case. Mr. Yamada told me that there was no petrol in many petrol station on Ruta 3, and where had petrol, there were queues of cars.

I went to the hardware store, but it would not open until 9am. So I waited there for a while. It seemed to be a waste of time, but it would be better than I get empty in the middle of nowhere or I have to wait for the next petrol delivery at a small towm.

I bought a 7.8ltr Jerrycan for 116APs... It's expensive.

I filled up the jerrycan at a petrol station and I spent a long time to figure out how I could strap it on my GS. As I am carrying a tyre, I could not put it on the carrier. If I put it on sideway, petrol leaked... So I put it on top of the right pannier. It was not really ideal place to put a heavy stuff, but it will work.

I left the city just before 10am. I wondered how far I could ride today.

I made a first stop at Luis Piedora Buena - 220km from the start - for a refuel. I had sandwith for lunch. The 2nd stop was at Puerto San Juan - 140km awaym and then Tres Cerros - 130km away - for refuel. I stopped at the all petrol stations on the way as I could take a rest as well. Riding in the strong wind made me tired quickly. It wasn't that hard until around Tres Cerros, but it started to blow really strong from the north west. I had to keep my neck straight against the wind. I will have a clamp on my neck!! As it was the head wind, the fuel consumpton was bad too.

I arrived Fitz Roy around 5pm, then rode another 70km to Celeta Olivia - arrived there around 6pm. I saw a sign "Camping", so I went there, but the lady told me that the business was closed... I looked for a cheap hostel, but I had to park my GS on the street and the town did not look very safe, so I rode to Comodoro Rivadavia. It would be 80km away.

By 8pm, I got there. I made a stop at a petrol station and had sandwith for dinner. I asked where a campground was, but it would be outside of the city. I thought I would find a nice place to bush camp, so I left the city.

Oh, I forgot to mention that around this area, there are oil reserves. I saw some "pumps" along Ruta 3. The city flourishes due to the production of oil.

Outside of the city, I found a sign "Camping". It was 35APs a night, so I decided to stay here. It's saturday, so there are many Argentinian family on the campground. They started to make BBQ (Parrilla) and turned on round musics... It's already 10pm but they have not started to eat anything yet. I wonder if I can sleep tonight. I should have bush camped today??

Day 551: 2012年1月27日

El Calafate to Rio Gallegos (Hospedaje Elcira)

ついに、ついに出発です。20日もいたので、もう「旅先」、ではなく「家」に思えてきた藤旅館、サヨウナラです。

7時半過ぎに起きて、出発の準備。朝飯は例の如く例のパン屋「Mata Negra」にてパンを購入。この日課も今日が最後です。

藤旅館のオーナー夫妻は9時ごろにレストランのほうに出勤なので別れを告げます。長い間お世話になりました。ホセとワシは9時半に宿を出ました。彼とこの旅で会う機会はもう無いのですが、まぁ、日本に帰れば再会できるので、寂しくはありません。友よ、終点のウシュアイアまで良い旅を!! Buen Viaje!!

カラファテの中心を通り抜け、ガソリンスタンド「YPF」近くの橋を渡ります。いよいよカラファテともサヨウナラです。「さぁ、行くぞ!!」と気合を入れた瞬間、ヒッチハイクしているお姐さんに目が留まりました。なんと、なんと、ロザーナ（Rosana)です!!

早速バイクを停めて彼女に挨拶。彼女もビックリしてます。彼女とはサンティアゴの宿で出会い、プーコンで再会し、そしてここで3回目。連絡先はお互い交換していないので、これは運命か??　彼女はこれからエル・チャルテンに行き、ルート40を北上し」、チリ・チコからチリに入ってカレテラ・アウストラルを旅するそうです。うーん、方向が同じなら、4度目があるのに・・・。相変わらず可愛いな、ロザーナ。「連絡先を交換しよう」、と思ったのですが、「4度目の奇跡」を信じて交換しませんでした。

さて、荒野を走ります。先ずはラ・エスペランサ（La Esperanza = 希望)へ。そうです、ワシの愛車「エスペランサ」と同じ名前の街なんです。まぁ、何にも無い小さな街なのでしょうが。

景色は単調そのもの。風も無いのでただ走ります。11時ごろにラ・エスペランサに到着。ここで給油。なんと、ここでTriumph Tiger 800がいました。しかも彼はワシとカナダで出会っているそうです。そういえば見覚えがあるような。これからウシュアイアに向かうそうです。Buen viaje!!

さらに走り、国道3号線に出ました。目指す街リオ・ガジェゴスは29キロ先。1時過ぎに到着。先ずはリア・タイヤをハイデナウに交換しよう思っていたので（履いているShahara Euduro 3はチューブ用のタイヤなのでパンクすると修理が大変、だと聞いたのでパタゴニアみたいな人里離れたところでは、ちゃんとチューブレスに交換しておこうと思って）、バイク屋「Lucho Motos」を訪れました。しかし、シエスタで店は閉まってます。しかし、たまたまオーナーのルチョが出てきて、「3時に開店だよ」と教えてくれました。とりあえずガソリンスタンドに行き昼飯と給油。

3時前にバイク屋に戻り、ルチョの息子二コラスが対応してくれました。タイヤ交換機は壊れているので、ホイールを外してタイヤ屋へ。待っている間マテや珈琲を振舞ってくれました。代金は80ペソ（20米ドル）と少々高いですが、これで安心して走れます。 ルチョもニコラスもいろいろ質問してきます。「いつかBMWを買うんだ。」とニコラス。親切に対応してくれて、ありがとう!

キャンプ場に行きましたが、50ペソもするので市営のキャンプ場に行こうか、と思いましたが雲往きが怪しいので宿を取ることに。「Hospedaje Elcira」へ。ドミ70ペソとちょっと高いですが、敷地内にバイクを入れさせてもらえるので、ここにしました。

さて、明日は北上開始です。どこまで足を伸ばしますかね。



Day 551: 27 JAN 2012

El Calafate to Rio Gallegos (Hospedaje Elcira)

Finally I left El Calafate!! I spent 20 days in Fuji Ryokan, so I started feel it was my home. It's sad to leave there but I must go on!

I woke up around 7:30pm and started to get ready. I started my day at the bakery "Mata Negra" again. This would be the last to do the routine...

The owner of Fuji Ryokan left around 9am, so Yutaka and I said good-bye to them. Yutaka and I left there around 9:30am. It would be the last to see him on this trip, but I can see him again in Japan, so no sad feelings.

I was riding to the edge of the town, after I crossed the bridge I saw a girl hitch hiking! It was Rosana!!

This was the 3rd time to encounter her. The 1st one was in Santiago, then 2nd one was in Pucon. We have not exchanged our contacts, so it was purely by chance!! Is it fate??

Rosana was also surprised to see me there. I was thinking to exchange our contacts, but I thought we could catch up again somewhere without knowing where about of each other. It the 4th encounter happens, it must be fate!

I rode to La Esperanza. Yes "Esperanza = Hope" is the name of my GS. The scenery was very boring. But there was no wind, an easy ride.

At La Esperanza, I went to YPF to refuel. There I saw a new Triumph Tiger. It was the 1st time to see someone using the bike for the adventure touring. And to make me surprised more, the owner of the bike, he said he met me in Canada! I kinda could recognised him as well. He was heading to Ushuaia. Buen viaje!!

I arrived Rio Gallegos around 1pm. I went to a motorcycle shop "Lucho Motos" first to change the rear tyre to Heidenau. The reason is the current tyre "Metzeler Sahara Enduro 3" is "Tube Type". I heard that if I get a puncture, it will be hard to fix it. As Patagonia is really remote place, so using this tyre I think is not a good idea here.

But the shop was closed for siesta. The owner of the shop - Lucho - came out and told me to come back after 3pm. So I went to a petrol station to have lunch and refuel.

I came back to "Lucho Motos" around 2:30pm, then the son of Lucho - Nicolas - served me. He took the wheel off and took it to a tyre shop. It cost me 80APs, but, the service was excellent.

I was thinking to camp today, but the campground costs 50APs!! So I was going to the municiple campground 5km off the town, but the weather seemed to be going worse. So I decided to stay at a hostel.

So here I am at "Hospedaje Elcira". A dorm bed costs 70APs and I could par my GS inside.

I will head north on RN3 tomorrow. I wonder how far I ride tomorrow?

Day 550: 2012年1月26日

El Calafate (Fuji Ryokan)

結局「Hero」を夜中まで見てしまって、朝はちょっと寝入ってしまいました。今日も延泊ですね。天気はいいですが風が強い。ビュービュー吹いてます。窓を開けていると部屋に砂埃が入ってくるほどの強風。これは出発しないで正解でしたね。

朝飯は例のパン屋にて。それから「Hero」の続きを。ようやくシリーズを簡潔。しかし映画がまだ残っています。

昼飯はビーフ・シチューを。肉が柔らかく焼けないので、煮込んでみれば軟らかくなるだろう、っていうことで。が、しかしやはりちょっと硬い。でも味はOKでした。

午後はゆっくりと時間を過ごします。「Hero」映画版を鑑賞。これで明日出発できます。夕飯はビーフシチューの残りを。ようやく肉が柔らかくなりました。

夜はボウ君と歓談。今日は船で氷河を廻るツアーに参加したそうで、楽しんだそうです。

さてさて、ついに明日出発です。20泊してしまいました、藤旅館。去年も泊まったので通算26泊ですね。お世話になりました!

明日はリオ・ガジェゴス（Rio Gallegos)を目指します。330キロくらいで舗装路、追い風になるので、まぁ、あわてずに行きます。

Last night I was watching the TV series "Hero" until late, so I slept in this morning. Yutaka and I decided to stay here one more day.  It was a really sunny day, but the wind was blowing really really hard. If the window was left open, dust got into the room. So we were glad that we stayed here one more day.

I spent the day really relaxed - watchng the TV series and chatting with friends.

I stayed here 20 days after I came back from Ushuaia. I stayed here 6 days before I went to Ushuaia, so tatal f 26days I stayed here!! I had a great time. 

Tomorrow I will head to Rio Gallegos. It is 330km away, all the way paved, and I wil have the tail wind.

Day 549: 2012年1月25日

さて、今日はもう一泊ということになりました。

朝山田さんが出発されました。たった2日間でしたが、楽しかったです。今度は日本で会いましょう!　Buen viaje!!

今日は宿でゆっくりしようと、朝からダラダラ。昨晩宿に来たボウ君と朝食後に歓談。彼は現在カナダのトロント在住。旅をしながらいろんなことを感じ考えてますね。将来有望な若者ですね。彼のような若者と出会うと、日本も捨てたものでない、と思えますね。共に日本の未来のために尽くしていこう!

昼飯はステーキを焼こうとなり、ホセとボウ君と連れ立って買出し。ガスでゆっくり焼いてみました、が、しかし、肉が硬い。あの炭火焼のようにはやはり行かないものです。

夕方からTVドラマシリーズ「HERO」を見始めてしまいました。夕飯はローストビーフを。オーブンでじっくり焼けば肉が柔らかくなるかな、と思ったんで。が、しかし、肉が硬い・・・。

「HERO」は到底今日中に見終わりそうも無いので、ホセと「もう1泊?」なんていいながら、夜も更けていくのでした。本当に明日出発できるのか??


Day 549: 25 JAN 2012

We decided to stay one more day. This will be last chance to spend time with Yutaka on this trip, that's why.

Mr. Yamada left to Gabernadore Gregores in the morning. I spent just 2 days with him but I had a good time! Buen viaje!!

I met Bo - a young archetect to be - in the morning. He lives in Torono now and doing 4 month trip in South America. He has his own opinions and has seen the world with purpose. Meeting with such a young fellow made me think Japan has a blight future.

With Yutaka and Bo, I went to the supermarket to get some meats and vegetables. We cooked beef steak for lunch. We tried to cook the meats very slowly with gas, but we could not make them as good as when we cooked with charcoal...

We started to watch the TV series "Hero" in the afternoon. There are many episods and I don't think we can finish themall within today. 

We cooked the roast beef for dinner. We thought if we ook the meats in the oven slowly, it would make the meat really tender. But it was tough...

It's nearly midnight. We are still half way through "Hero". Yutaka and I am saying, "Should we stay one more day?" Well, can we leave tomorrow??

Day 548: 2012年1月24日

El Calafate (Fuji Ryokan)

今日もパン屋で1日が始まりです。朝食後は出発の準備にとりかかります。

山田さんはペリート・モレノ氷河へバイクで出かけました。ホセは食料調達のためにスーパーへ。ホセがスーパーから帰ってくると、「溶接屋を見つけた」、と。早速ホセは自転車のパニアキャリアを溶接してきました。どうやらアルミも溶接できるとのことなので、ワシもウシュアイアで直したパニアを再び溶接することに。ちょっと溶接にクラックが入っているんですよね。

早速溶接屋に持って行きましたが、「仕上がりは5時」と。宿に戻り、昼飯を作って、荷物の整理を続行。4時過ぎにスーパーに行き、帰りの足で溶接屋に。もう5時なのに閉まってます。20分くらい待ってようやく人が帰ってきました。そしたら「アルミの溶接は明日にならないと出来ない」、と。でも「5時に出来る、って聞いたんだけど。」、と言ったら、「んじゃぁ、1時間後に来て。」と。うーん、やはり南米だな、ここも。

宿に戻り、シャワーを浴びて洗濯。そして溶接屋へ。途中山田さんが帰ってくるのが見えたので、バイクで溶接屋まで乗せてもらいました。が、しかし、溶接屋さんは「アルミの溶接が出来ない」、と・・・。無駄足になりました。

夕飯は山田さんとホセと藤旅館のオーナー島藤夫妻が営まれる「寿司バー藤」へ。寿司のセットKOTOBUKI（5-6人前）を。結構な量がありましたが、あっという間に間食です。美味しかったぁ。なんと山田さんのおごりです!　ご馳走様です!!　

明日出発の予定ですが、ホセが「もう1日ゆっくりしたい」、というので、もう一泊するか考え中です。


Day 548: 24 JAN 2012

I started the day from the bakery again. I started to pack up after having breakfast.

Mr. Yamada went to see Glacier Perito Moreo, Yutaka went to the supermarket to get supplies for the trip, I remanded at the hostel and continued my packing.

Yutaka came back with a news, "I found a welder". He went to weld his pannier frame. He asked the welder if he could weld alminum. He said "Yes", so I took my pannier to the welder.

My pannier was fixed in Ushuaia, but there is a crack at the newly welded part. It is not broken yet, but it would be better to weld the part again to strengthen the pannier.

The welder told me that it wold be done by 5pm. So I left the pannier there anf came back to the hostel.

After lunch, I continued my packing. Around 4pm, I went to the supermarket and one the way back, I went to the welder. But it was still closed for ciesta... I waited there for 20mins and finally the welder came. He said "It will be done by tomorow." Well Argentina is "South America"... But I told him that I need the pannier fixed today, so he said "Come back here 1 hour later." So I did.

But when I came back, he said "I cannot weld alminum..." So I wasted my time there.

Mr. Yamada took Yutaka and I to "Sushi Bar Fuji" where the owner of the hostel operates. We ordered Sushi set "Kotobui" (for 5-6 persons) and ate them all! Thank you, Mr. Yamada!

Yutaka said he wants to spend 1 more day relaxed here, so I am thinking if I should stay 1 more day...
