Day 623: 2012年4月11日

Morretes (La Casa de Daniel)

朝は曇ってましたが雨は止んでました。ダニエルたちは既に花摘みの作業を始めています。

It was raining hard last night. Though it was cloudy, but it cleared by the morning. Daniel, Camillo and Fabian were already working at the field. 

丁度めしべの色が黄と白の半分になったくらいが摘みごろなのだそうです。花を摘んだ後、一本一本丁寧に手で洗い、大きさや色で仕分け。

They cut the flowers and washed them one by one by hands. Daniel told me that a flower is ready for cut if the colour of its pistil got half while and half yellow. After washed, they were sorted according to its colour and size.

































一作業済んだところで朝食です。

Once the sorting was done, we had breakfast.

















朝食が済むと、一旦街に出ました。屋根に巣食う蝙蝠を引っかけるための網を買うのと最近生まれた犬のちびちゃんのもらい先を探すためです。何か普段と違う空気を感じで隠れるチビちゃん。

Daniel and I went out to the town of Morretes after breakfast. We were to buy some fishing net to catch bats living between the ceiling and the roof. And also we were to find a new home for a puppy. She felt something was different than usual, so she was hiding herself behind the wall.







街では結局チビちゃんのもらい先は見つからず、農園にチビちゃんは返ってきてホット一安心のチビちゃん。

We could not find a new home for the puppy, so she came back to the farm. She looked very relieved.

















そして山に入り椰子の木を切りに。椰子の緑色の部分は成長するために細胞が柔らかいので食べられるのです。ファビアンが斧で切り倒し、ダニエルが鉈で枝を落とし、皮を剥きます。

We went to the mountain and cut some palm trees. Core of the green part of a palm tree trank can be eaten. Fabian cut the trees with an axe and Daniel trim the tranks with a hatchet. 

































































なるほど、ドロール&アンジェラ宅でサラダに入ってた白い筍みたいなのはこれだったんですね。

Now I got an idea what it was. I had the core of palm trees at Dolor&Angela's. It tasted like bamboo shoots.




















10本くらい収穫して山を降ります。流石に山は蚊が多く短期間に足首周りを無数に刺されました…。長ズボンとブーツが必要なのがよくわかりました。

We harvested 10 of them. There were lots of mosquitos and I was bitten a lot...















山から戻りシャワーを浴びて昼食。そして昼寝。農園ではゆったりと時間が流れます（まぁ、ワシは働かないでブラブラしているだけだからなのですが）。

I took a shower and had lunch.  At the farm, the time passed very slowly (probably I was not working and doing nothing!).

午後は屋根裏に巣食っている蝙蝠対策の為に網を張ります。夕方蝙蝠が出てこようとして網に引っかかったところを、棒で撲殺する、という計画。

In the afternoon, the fishing nets were installed between the roof tiles and the basewoods. In the evening, when the bats would come out, they would be trapped with the net That's the plan.

















蝙蝠の糞害で臭いもそうですが、屋根が腐ってしまうので早めの対策です。

Those bats are causing lots of damages to the roof and ceilings. So we need to act quickly to terminate them.

午後のお茶をすながらしばらく歓談。そして6時前に蝙蝠が出てくるのを待ち構えます。

We had the afternoon tea and waited for the dusk.

一匹出て来ました!!が、網の隙間から上手く逃げてしまいます!　良くあんな隙間を通れるな。しばらく待ち二匹目が網に引っかかりました。棒で撲殺。ダニエルもファビアンも蝙蝠を殺したくはないのですが、仕方がないですね。

One was caught in the net! But it could escape from the trap!! We did not expect that the bat could get away!! We waited for another one and this time Fabian smacked it with a piece of wood. Daniel and Fabian did not want to kill it, but they had to do it to terminate the problem.

結局四匹今日は仕留めました。全滅させるにはまだまだ先は長いですが、少しずつ数を減らしていっているそうです。

They got 4 bats today. There are still many to catch but one by one, they are heading to the extinction.


















夜はワシの旅の写真や動画を見ながら歓談。ダニエルはしばらくは長期のバイクでの旅はいいそうです。

In the evening, I showed Daniel and Fabian those photos from my trip. Daniel said he would not want to go for a long trip on a motorcycle for a while.

ブラジルの現状（最低賃金や労働条件など）や環境問題などなどを話しました。ブラジルはまだまだ貧富の差が激しく75%が貧困層で、20%が中産階級、5%が途方もない富裕層なのだそうです。
特に北西部ではまだまだ生活環境は改善されていないみたいで、学校や病院といった公共施設の設備も整ってないとか。

We talked about the current situation of Brazil, regarding work conditions and the minimum wedges. He said there is still a huge gap between rich and poor. 75% of the population are still under poverty, 20% are middle class and 5% are super rich. Especially the condition of the northwest is still far from developped. They sometimes do not have proper facilities in schools and hospitals.

数字の上では世界代6位の経済大国ですが、課題は山積みなのだそうです。

Brazil is the 6th largest economy in the world, but those things would not be easily seen of statistics.

やはりこういう現状は外からや短期間では見えないものなのですね。

It would be hard to see the reality from outside or just a short visit....

Day 622: 2012年4月10日

Morretes (La Casa de Daniel)
59,229km to 59,460km = 231km

3週間以上ぶりに旅を再開です。今日は気合をいれて朝6時前に起床。7時過ぎには用意が出来ました。

For more than 3 weeks, I have been resting. Today is the day I restart my trip. I got up before 6am and got ready just after 7am.

ドロール&アンジェラも7時半過ぎには出社なので一緒にガレージへ。しばしの別れを告げて出発です。まぁ、金曜日には戻ってくるんですけどね。

Dolor&Angela were leaving to their office around 7:30am, sowe went down to the garage together. I said good-bye to them and left the aprtment. Well, I will be back there friday evening thought.

クリチバまでは高速道路で一本、230キロくらい。今日も天気が悪いですが涼しいので快適に飛ばします。

Once I got on the freeway, there were 230km to Curitiba. It was overcsted but it was cool, so it was a nice ride.

途中雨がチラホラと。ジョインヴィレ（Joinville)を過ぎるとクリチバまで段々と標高が上がって行きます。

But it started to rain a little. After I passed Joinville, the freeway started to ascend and it got cooler.


クリチバ手前70キロくらいから雨が激しくなって来ました。リアタイヤの溝がもう余りないのと3週間前の転倒のトラウマのせいで、ちょっとビビリながら慎重に走ります。

Unfortunately, just around 70km awayfrom Curitiba, the rain got heavier. As there was no much tread left on the rear tyre and also as I crushed the bike in the rain, I was little nurvous to ride in the rain.

しばらくして雨は上がり、クリチバ市内には10時半頃到着。GPSに従ってダニエルの家まで。いつもGPS目的地が多少ずれるのですが、今日はドンピシャリ!!

Just before Curitiba, it stopped raining. I got into the city of Curitiba around 10:30am. I followed the GPS and arrived Daniel's place. Usually there would be a slight  

マンションの警備員にダニエルを呼んでもらい、1年以上ぶりの再会です。いやぁ、懐かしいなぁ。

I asked the security of the apartment to call Daniel and he came down! It's been more than 1 year since we saw last time in Medellin! It's good to catch up with an old friend.

早速マンションの駐車場へ。ダニエルの愛車SUZUKI V-Strom 1000の隣に駐車。彼のバイクはカナダで登録されたもの。ブラジルのナンバーに切り替えるとなんと15,000ドルの関税がかかるとか!!

I parked Esperanza next to his beloved SUZUKI V-Strom. His bike has a Canadian registration and if he wants to get a Brazilian registration, he has to pay more than US$15,000 for the import duty!!

カナダで11,000ドルで購入してブラジルまで乗って来たので、関税は現在のバイクの価値以上…。なので一時輸入をしただけなので、現在は一時輸入許可も無効。家の周りしか乗れない情況だとか。「このままではバイクが駄目になってしまうので、売るしかないね」、とダニエル。

He bought the bike for US$11,000 in Canada and rode all the way down to Brazil, so the import duty is more than the bike worth... His temporary permit is already expired, so he cannot ride the bike leagally in Brazil now. He just take the bike out and ride around the town now. "I cannot keep the bike like this. So I have to sell this, unfortuantelly." said Daniel.

エルトンがカリフォルニアからバイクを乗ってきてパラグアイで売った、と言ってたので、エルトンに詳しく聞いてみることにしました。

Elton told me that he sold his California registered BMW R1150GS in Paraguay. So I will ask Elton how he did it.

荷物を降ろして身の回りのものだけを持って、ダニエルの車に。クリチバ郊外のモヘテス（Morretes)に向かいます。ダニエルの一家はそこで花農園を営んでいるのです。

I picked up some stuffs from Esperanza and hopped on his car. We were going to his farm at nearby town Morretes. His family owns a farm growing floweres.

モヘテスはワシが3週間前に転倒したグラシオーソ（Gracioso)の直ぐ近くなんです。まぁ、今日は違う道を通っていきますが。

Morretes is actually very close to the place where I crushed 3 weeks ago. We would take another way rather than Gracioso.

お父さんお母さん、そして農園で働いているファビアン一家に挨拶。

I met his dad, mum and Fabian family who is taking care of the farm.

そして、これが花農園です。

ファビアンの息子のフラビオの6歳の誕生日。いろんな種類のソーセージを炭火で焼いて彼の誕生日を祝います。

Today is the birthday of Frabio - the son of Fabian. So Camillo - Daniel's Dad - grilled many kinds of sausages and celebrated Frabio's birthday!

















フラビオはマイケル・ジャクソンが好きだそうで、"ビリー・ジーン"や"Beat it"などの曲に乗って踊りまくるフラビオ。

Frabio likes Michael Jackson! He danced with "Billie Jean" and "Beat it!". 


































風船を手や足で打って皆で遊んだり、楽しい誕生会となりました。

We all played with balons and it was a fun party and fun night.

Day 621: 2012年4月9日

Balneario Camboriu (La Casa do Dolor&Angela)

日中はのんびり過ごしました。

I had a relaxed day.

夕方になりドロールが旅先から帰って来たので、しばらく歓談。「旅はいいけど、帰る所がある、からいいんだよね。」とドロール。共感です。

Dolor came home late afternoon. We talked about the trip. He said the trip was good, but the best part of the trip is "I have a place to come back".  I totally agree with him.

オーストラリアのミュージシャン、ピーター・アレンの曲「I still call Australia Home」にも「帰る場所がある、と安心する。（it's good to know where your journey ends.）」と一節があります。

A song "I still call Australia home" by Peter Allen has a frase "It's good to know where your journey ends."

ワシはこの歌が好きで、旅中に走りながら良く歌います。オーストラリアではカンタス航空のTV CMでおなじみの曲です。

I like this song and I sing quite often while I am riding. In Astralia, this song is widely known as the song of Qantas TV ads.

Aren't they nice lyrics? The lyric fit so well to my current life style as a traveller.

私も日本、という帰るべき場所があるので旅を続けられます。やはり、人間はルーツが必要なのだと思います。根無し草では直ぐに枯れてしまう。「故郷」というものをもっと大事にしなくては、とイグアス移住区以来ずっと感じていることですけれども、ドロールと話して再確認しました。

I could keep travelling because I have a lace to go back in Japan. I reckon we need to be rooted to somewhere. Without any root, we would not be able to thrive. I started to think more about "Home" since I visited Colonia Yguazu in Paraguay, and today after talking with Dolor, I realised something I have always known, I still Japan, home.

夕食は久しぶりにドロール&アンジェラ、ワシと3人で。

I had dinner with Dlor&Angela. It's been while since we three had dinner together. 

さて、明日はクリチバに昼前には到着したいので朝8時は出発です。いよいよ旅再開です!!

I have to be in Curitiba before lunch time, so I will leave here by 8am tomorrow. Fianlly I restart my trip!

Day 620: 2012年4月8日

さて今日はアルフレッドさん&ジアナさん宅で昼食に招かれています。11時過ぎに迎えに来るというのでマンションの下で待っていると・・・。

I was invited by Alfredo and Giana for the Easter lunch today. They told me they would pick me upafter 11am, so I was waiting for them in front of the apartment....

な、なんとキャデラックでお出迎え!!!

They came to pick me up with a classic Cadillac!!

















ナンバープレートが示すように、1950年製です。62年前の車。カッコいいですね。

As the number plate shown, it was made in 1950. It's 62 years old car. Soooo cool!

高速道路をキャデラックで飛ばす!　気分は最高です。

そして、2人のご自宅で待っていたのは、

アルゼンチン・アサード!!!　そうアルフレッドさんはアルゼンチン出身なのです。コスティージャ（アバラ肉）、チョリソー、マタンブレなどを炭火でジックリと焼きます。

There was Argentinian Asado!!! Alfredo is from Argentina, that's why. Constilla (ribs), chorizis and matambre were cooked with charcoal. Very slowly cooked.

アルフレッドさんとジアナさんののご友人たちも集まり、焼きあがったチリソーを食べながら歓談していると、雨が強くなって来ました!!!　風も強くなり傘の下まで吹き込んでくるので、ガレージに非難。

Friends of  Alfredo and Giana came and having chorizos just cooked, we talked. Then the rain got really heavy and the wind picked up. So we escaped to the garage.

アルフレッドさんの息子さんカップルとお孫さんも到着し、ガレージで昼食会です。流石アルゼンチン人が焼いたアサード。美味い。食べるのに夢中で写真撮るのを忘れてしまいました!!

Alfredo's sons and their family arrived. We started to have asado! The real Argentinian asado in Brazil. As it was cooked by the real Argentinians, wonderful. So I forgot to take any photo!

アルフレッドさん、息子さんたち、ご友人はクラシックカーが好きでみんなでワイワイ話が盛上がります。今日はスペイン語なので話を聞いていて分ることが多いですが、なかなか流石にネイティブスピーカーの輪に割ってはいるほどの語学力は無いのでじっと聞いていました。

Alfredo and his sons and friends like classic cars. Everyone was talking so enthusiasitically. They were speaking in Spanish, so I could understand quite a lot, but I just concentrated on listening.

夕方になり、みんな帰宅。ワシはしばらくアルフレッドさん、ジアナさんと歓談。日本のこと、熊のこと、時計のことなど。

In the afternoon, everyone went back home. I was talking with Alfredo and Giana about Japan, bears and watches.

そして3人と愛犬ニナと記念撮影。帰りはDudge RAM2500で家まで送っていただきました。2人には3週間前に窮地を救ってくださり、またそれからもいろいろ気にかけていただいて、本当にお世話になりました!!　Arifgatou Alfredo-san, Giana-san!!

The photo with Alfredo, Giana and myself holding their beloved Nina. They drove me home with Dudge RAM 2500! I really thank their hospitality and friendship. They came to rescue me to Curitiba 3 weeks ago and have been good friends to me since. Arigatou Alfredo-san and Giana-san!!

家に戻ってしばらくするとアンジェラが別荘から戻って来ました。向こうでは雹まで降ったそうです!!　そしてドロールは明日の夕方戻ってくるので、明日クリチバに出発しようと思ってたのですが、火曜日出発に延期しました。

Angela came back from the farm house. She told me there was a hail storm!! And she told me Dolor will be home by tomorrow afternoon. I was thiniking to leave to Curitiba tomorrow but I decided to leave on tuesday.

Day 619: 2012年4月7日

今日もイタジャイ郊外の別荘へ、エスペランサに乗ってお出かけです。

I rode to the farm house again.


昨日アンジェラが12時ごろからお昼ご飯だから、と招いてくれたので行ってみると・・・。

Angeka told me the lunch would start around 12noon. Then it was.....

なんと娘さんのポウラ（ペドロのお母さん）の誕生日でした!　2児の母なのに超美人。旦那のアンドレがうらやましい。ワシなんも知らんかったので、プレゼントとか用意してませんが・・・。まぁ、そんなことは気にせず、お昼ご飯を楽しみました。

Birthday of Paula! She is mum of 2 kids (Pedro and Clara) and still very beautiful. Andre, you are the lucky man. I did not know it was her birthday, so I did not prepare any present.... But anyhow, I enjoyed the lunch.


















昼飯後は釣りをしたり。ペドロが大きなティラピアを釣り上げた後、ジョージの息子ジョアンが結構大きなティアラピアを釣り上げました!　

After lunch, kids were enjoying fising. Pedro caight a big Tilapia, andthen Juan - Jorge's son - caught another big one!

















ペドロ、ジョアン、マテオと鬼ごっこをしたり。久しぶりに走り回ったので、疲れました・・・。

Then I played "tag" with Pedro, Juan and Mateus. It had been a while sine I ran around so much, so I was exhausted....


山羊は相変らずのんびりと。ヒツジも仲間に入れてもらうか??　「いや、僕はヒツジ。彼等は山羊だから」、とヒツジ。

Those goats were relaxing as usual. Mr. Sheep, do you want to oin them?? "No, I am a sheep, but they are goats.", he replied.


















そんなこんなで一日が終わりました。

Just like this, a day has gone.
