Krakow - Poland (4 Friends Hostel)

さて、今日はクラカウの旧市街散策です。バスに乗って宿から15分くらいですかね。天気がいいので気温が上がりそうな予感。

I looked around the old town of Krakow today. It took 15mins or so by bus to get to the old town. It was a fine day, so expected to be a hot day.

これが中央広場。向こうに見えるのは聖マリア教会。

This is the central plaza (Market Square). St. Mary's Church stands beside the plaza.


広場の面積はかなり広く取ってあり、広場の中に、市庁舎の塔などがあります。

The plaza was pretty large and on the plaza there were the tower of city hall, and other buildings.


城壁。近隣に何度も侵略をされてきたポーランド。街の防御にはやはり力を入れないと。

The city wall. As Poland was constantly invaded by others, the defense of the city was very important.


そして最大の防御と言えば、チャック・ノリス!!　これで安心。

So, the end result is gurading by Chuck Norris!!


昼飯は旧市街からちょっと外れたところで庶民の食堂を見つけて13.50ズウォティで日替わりメニューを。

We went out of the old town o find a good value meal. We found a local eatery where"Menu of the day" wa served for 13.50PLN.


スープとメインで4米ドルちょいとは安い!!　しかも味ヨシ!!

With a soup and a main, it cost US$4 or less. A bargain! The taste was good too.


流石に昼過ぎになると気温が上がり、歩くのにはシンドイので中央駅の近くのショッピングセンターへ涼みに。カフェでしばらく歓談。

In theaftrenoon, the temp soared and it was hard to walk around, so we went to a shopping centrennearby Central Station. We sat on the couches of a cafe and stayed there for a while.

マサ君がカメラのバッテリーを買いたいというので、電化店に行くと、日本人の旅行者に遭遇。しばらく歓談。あ、名前聞くの忘れましたね。お互いよい旅を!!

Masa wanted to buy a camera battery and we went to find it in a shop where we met a Japanese traveller. We forgot to get his name, but we talked there for a while.


それから王宮を訪ねます。

Then we visited Royal Castle.


時間は既に5時過ぎなので博物館とかは閉まってましたが、城の内部には入れます。

It was after 5pm, so museum and other exhibitions were already closed, but we could walk around the courtyad of the castle.

これは場内の教会です。ポーランドはカトリックの国なので王侯も力を注いだわけですね。

These building complex is church inside the castle. Poland is Catholic nation and those kings spent firtunes for Catholic.


お花畑で遊ぶヒツジ。



ヒツジはお花が好きなんです。



夜は中華が食べたい、とお互い意見が一致したので中華屋で。なかなか本格的な中華で14.50ズウォティで白米とサラダ、メインです。ポーランドは食のクオリティーが高い!?



今日は33度まで気温が上がったそうで、日中は殆どショッピングセンターに逃げていました。まぁ、旧市街は何処も大体同じ感じなので、ちょっと見ればもうおなかいっぱいになることが判明したのでいいでしょう。

明日はアウシュビッツとビルケナウ強制収容所跡を訪ねます。この目でしっかりと見てきます。

王宮はもう少し早い時間に行って博物館とか見学してみたかったですね。ちょっと残念です。まぁ、無料で場内を歩けたのでお得な気分ですけど。

Day 756: 2012年8月21日

Warsaw toKrakow - Poland (4 Friends Hostel)
80,859km to 81,160km = 301km

今日は朝から雨。昨日の炎天下は嘘のよう。

It was raining from the morning. I could not believe it was such a sunny and hot day yesterday.

天気予報を見ると降雨率90%（まぁ、降っているので、降雨率はどうもいいことなんですけど）、小雨に通り雨、雷雨を伴うと。フム、となると雨は一時的なものですね。

I checked the weather forcast and it stated "90% chance of rain, light rain, showers and thunderstorm". Well, it could be a temporal rain.

なのでマサ君とダベりながら雨が上がるのを待ち、10時半に出発。そのころにはかなり晴れ間も広がってました。蒸し暑い!

So I waited till the rain stop.　The rain stopped by 10am and it got sunny and really hot and humid!! I left the hostel by 10:30am.

快晴だったらちょとルブリン（Lublin）に寄り道をしようと考えていたんですが、いつ雨が降り出すかわからないので、真っ直ぐにクラカウに向かいます。

If it was a clear day, I was thinking to make a detour to Lublin, but I did not know when the rain would come back. So I rode straight to Krakow.

首都ワルシャワから古都クラカウまでは国道が通ってますので、単調です。まあ、ポーランド自体が平坦なのもありますが。ずーっと、畑や牧場、森が広がります。たまに街がちらほら。風景的には見るもの無し。クラカウの南部、スロバキアとの国境の方には山があるとのことなので、それまでガマン。

From the capital Warsaw to the old capital Krakow, thereis a main highway connected, so the route was damn boring. Poland itself is very flat and I only could see farms, cattle farms and forests. Well there were some towns in between. I heard that there are mountains in the south of Krakow - near the border to Slovakia, so I am looking forward riding through the curves there!

幸い雨は降りませんでしたが、晴れるとかなり暑くなります。気温は30度前後。ジャケットの中は汗だく。やはりまだ熱あるのかな??

Fortunately it did not rain at all, but it became quite hot. The air temp was around 30°. I was sweating a lot inside the jacket. I guess I did have the fever still.

そう、まだ風邪を引きずっているらしく、咳がでます。鼻水と痰が出るのでまだまだ身体と菌が闘っている状態ですね。

Actually, I still cough and have a running nose. My body is still fighting agains the flu.

クラカウには3時ごろ到着。今日の宿は市内から7-8キロ離れた「4Friends Hostel」です。本当は市内の宿に泊まりたいのですが、駐車場の関係上ここにしました。

I got to Krakow around 3pm. Te hostel I am staying is located 7-8km away from the city centre. If I could I would like to stay closer to the city centre, but due to the parking availability, I am staying far away from the centre.

チェックインをして洗濯をしたり。ネットをしていたら、マサ君が意外に早く5時過ぎに到着。近くのスーパーに買出しに行き、晩飯の食材を。

After check-in, I did some laundry and surfing the net, then Masa arrived around 5pm, earlier than I expected. We went to a supermarket to get some foods.

今日は七面鳥肉のリゾットを作りました。キッチンにはHCコンロ1個しかないので、ちょっと料理をするのには不向き・・・。温度が高くなりすぎで、フライパンの底が赤くなるくらい。温度調整をするのにかなり苦労しました。が、

We made turkey risotto. There was only one HC table top stove... It was really hard to get the heat right (it tended to be too hot!!).


かなり出来のいいリゾットが仕上がりました!!

But the end result was pretty good! Buen provecho!!


夜はマサ君と尖閣諸島や竹島の領土問題から、経済問題などなどを討論。近日中にいろいろ自分の考えなどを文章にまとめたいと思っているのですが、5日くらい落ち着ける場所が欲しいですね。

We talked about Japan's terriorial disputes with Korea and China, economic issue and so on. I would like to write my idea and post it on the blog, but I need to have somewhere I could spend 5days or so quietly.

今日は移動だけの1日となりました。まぁ、マサ君との夜の討論は良かったんですけどね。

Day 755: 2012年8月20日

Warsaw - Poland (Krokodyl Hostel)

今日は朝6時半に目が覚めてトイレに行こうとしたら、相部屋のポーランド系カナダ人のマイクに話しかけられ、しばらく歓談。最近子供が出来るまで彼もバイクに乗ってたということで、ワシみたいにに長期の旅をするのが憧れだったのだとこと。だからエスペランサを駐車場で見て、オーナーのワシが相部屋だ、ということで話したかったみたいなんです。

I got up at 6 something to go to toilet, Mark - a Polish Canadian - started to talk to me. Until recently he got a daughter, he had a motorcycle and he saw Esperanza in the courtyard and wanted to speak to me from yesterday.

本当はもう少し寝たかったんですけど、7時半ごろまで歓談。彼は会社の研修にワルシャワに来ていたので今日は移動。朝飯を食べて、9時前に出発して行きました。

I wanted to have little more sleep, but we talked till 7:30am. He was in Warsaw for a job training and he was to leave Warwaw today. After breakfast, he left the hostel by 9am.

さてと、マサ君と街に出る予定でしたが、今日は暑い。下手に外に出ると熱射病になる可能性も（ワルシャワは大きな街で、かなり歩くんです。そしてノルウェーとか寒い地域にいたので暑さが堪える身体に!?）。

I was planning to go to the city with Masa, but it became really a hot day. If we spent to long under the sun, we could be cooked! As Warsaw is a fiarly large city, we would have to walk a lot.

なので宿でのんびり過ごします。

So we stayed at the hostel most of the morning.

昨日は旧市街をブラブラしたので、今日は新市街に行こう、ということになり路面電車に乗って中央駅まで。そして中央駅周辺をブラブラ。なんかちょっとイカした建物がありますね。

We walked around the old own today, so we went to the new town. We caught a ram and walked around Central Station. There was a very distinctive building, but we did not know what was it.


昼飯はポーランドの餃子(?)「ピエロギ（Peirogi）」を。油で炒めてあって、更にカリカリに揚げた豚の脂がトッピング。なので脂っこくてちょっとうんざり。ラトビアの餃子のほうが良かったですね。

We had "Pierogi" for lunch. It was pan fried and crispy pork fat was accompanied with them. So they were pretty heavy. I prefered Latvian Pierogi.


そうそう、ポーランド、キレイな人が多いのですよ。抜群の美人、はまぁ、そう見かけないのですけど、アベレージが高いというか。人も親切だし、ポーランドには本当に好印象を持ってます。

One thing I have tomention is that Polish girls are beautiful. There aren't much stuning beauties, but I would say the standard is very high. People are really kind too. I like Poland.

暑いので、1日の大半をショッピング・センターの中で過ごしました。マサ君がノルウェーのH&Mで購入した安い靴が崩壊したので、新しい靴を購入。ワシのエクアドルのクエンカで購入したKeenも既に1年以上使用していて、かなりヘタレてきています。うーん、買い替え時かな??　ちょうど30-50％オフ・セール中なので「買おうかな?」、と思いましたが、まだ我がKeenはイケるので購入は控えました。

As it was so hot, we spent hemost of the day in a shoping centre. Masa's H&M shoes (bought in Norway) were already torned apart, so we went to a suportshop to buy a pair of new shoes. I checked my Keen sandals - I've been using the pair for more than 1 year since I bout it in Cuenca, Ecuador - it is quite worn out too. As the store was doing 30% to 50% off sale, I thought I should get a new pair too. But my Keen can still go many milles! So I did not buy.

ちょっと体力が回復したので、外に出て散策。花でできた虹の橋。

We regained our energy and went out again. A rainbow made with flowers.


教会。まぁ、旧市街に比べて街並みは猥雑で見るところも少ないですね、新市街。

が、しかしチャック・ノリスが出現!! ATMの上にこれがあるんです。「チャックが見張っている」ってことですかね。それは安全だ。

But I saw Chuck Norris!! It was a warning (?) over an ATM. I guessed, the warning saying "Chuck is guarding the ATM!!". It would be very, very safe.


そうそう、街中にはエクスペンダブルズ2（The Expendables 2）の広告も貼ってあって、ここにもチャックが!!

There were ads of "Expendables 2" on the streets as well. Chuck is starring in the movie. How "Expendable" is he?? Can you imagine?


今日は本当に暑く、無駄に体力を消耗いたしました。夕飯はスーパーで冷凍のピズィとピエロギ、野菜を買ってスープを造りました。ピズィのモチモチした食感はたまりませんね。マサ君もこれには大絶賛。白菜と葱も良く合って美味しい夕食となりました。

Today, we just wasted our energy... We bought Pyzy and Pierogi in a supermarket and we cooked them with vegies in a pot. I really love Pizy. Masa also fell in love with Pizy!



さて、明日はポーランドの旧都クラカウ（Krakow）に移動です。マサ君も移動。あまり暑くならないといいのですが。

I will move on to Krakow - the old capital of Poland tomorrow. Masa is also going there too. I hope it would not be that hot tomorrow.

まさかワルシャワでチャック・ノリスを見かけるとは!!　かなり嬉しい驚きです。
ポーランドのお姉さんはかなりのハイレベル。ちょっとポーランドに長居したくなってしまいますね。

Day 754: 2012年8月19日

Szczebra to Warsaw - Poland (Krokodyl Hostel)

昨日はゆっくり睡眠できたので、朝にはかなり体調が良くなってました。

I could have a good night sleep, so I felt much better this morning.

9時ごろ起きて朝飯。流石120ズウォティもしたので豪華な朝食付き。朝からソーセージとは幸せ（あ、ワシ、ソーセージ大好きなんです）。

I got up at 9am and had breakfast. As I paid 120PLN for the room, the breakfast was qite good (included with the price). I really love sausages.


で、食べてて店の時計を見たらまだ8時過ぎ。ポーランドはGMT+1時間でフィンランドとバルト三国とは一時間の差があるのを忘れてました。食べながら時計を1時間戻します。

While eating I noticed that the clock on the wall was showin 820am?? Oh, Poland's timezone is GMT+1, so 1 hour behind Baltic States. I adjuested my watch.

チェックアウトは12時までなので、ゆっくり過ごします。昨晩ネットが遅かったので、朝に調べごとを。朝のほうが早い。

As checkout time was till 12 noon, so I could spend more time here. I made some researches on the net.

10時過ぎに出発です。天気は晴れ。かなり暖かくなりそうな気配。

そうそう、この辺り一帯は湖が多いとかで、チラホラと湖を見ます。が、しかし路肩が無いので写真ストップできません・・・。

今日はサマーグローブ着用。インナージャケットも脱いでTシャツにライディング・ジャケットを着用のみと軽装ですが、ちょっと汗ばむくらい。北緯53度。ノールカップからこんなに南下してきたんですねぇ。

ワルシャワから80キロくらいの国道でチラホラとタチンボさん登場。スペインとポルトガルで見て以来ですね。やはり暖かくないと彼女たちも道端で待ってるのつらいですからね。

ワルシャワには2時前に到着。今日の宿「クロコディル・ホステル（Krokodyl Hostel）」へ。ここは中庭に駐車スペースがあるんです。街中からは離れていますが、エスペランサの安全第一ですからね。値段は1泊50ズウォティ（15米ドル）。

ここでマサ君と待ち合わせをしてるんです。彼はワルシャワ2時45分着のバスで来るのでしばらく時間があるので、シャワーを浴びてTシャツなどを洗濯。

ネットをしてるとマサ君が来ました。早速街へ。宿の近くにはまだなんとなくソヴィエト時代の名残が。



「ワルシャワ」、と聞いてまず思い浮かべるのが「ワルシャワ条約機構」ですね（ワシの年代的に）。冷戦時代に西側のNATOに対抗する東側のワルシャワ条約機構。ソヴィエトを中心とした東側諸国の軍事条約ですね。

近くのケバブヤで昼飯を食べて、旧市街まで歩きます。ワシの目分量では3キロくらいだったのですが、歩けど歩けど、なかなか到着しない!!　地下歩道から出たときの風景。青空がきれい。



旧市街じゃないけど、ちょっと尖塔が素敵な教会。



動物園を横切り（何故かキリンのオブジェ）、



橋を渡って旧市街へ。



なかなかの街並みですね。



が、しかし、北緯52度は陽が翳るのが早い。



中国大使館があったので「尖閣諸島は日本の領土だ!!」と大声で叫んでやりました。



夕飯はインドカレーが食べたいとリガからマサ君もワシも思っていたので、ちょっと奮発してインドカレー屋に。2人前で50ズウォティ。



旧市街から橋を渡るとき、新市街の夜景が多少キレイ。



帰りも懲りずに宿まで歩いて帰りました。途中で迷い、結局宿に付いたのは11時過ぎ!!　明日はバスに乗ろうと思います!!

ワルシャワ、イイ感じです。夜歩いていると、酔っ払いとかいますが、危険な感じはしません。ポーランド、好きな感じですね、今のところ。さて、明日は旧市街と新市街を散策してみます。

Day 753: 2012年8月18日

Riga - Latvia to Szczebra - Poland (Abro Hotel)
80,213km to 80,612km = 399km

朝起きても体調悪し。ちょっとフラフラしますね。汗もかいたし、熱があるんでしょう。うーん、どうすっぺかなぁ。まぁ、とりあえず少しでも前に進んでおきますか。200キロでもいいから、ね。と、出発の準備。

I wasn't feeling well whenI got up this morning. I sweat a lot while sleeping, yes, I had a fever. Should I leave or stay one more day? I wanted to make an advance even a bit, so I started to pack up.

20ラッツくらい余っていたので近くの両替商でユーロに換金。27ユーロになりました。

There were still 20LVLs left in my pocket, so I went to a money exchange and exchange them into 27 Euros.

エスペランサに荷物を積みながら、「あー、もう1泊ここで休めばよかったかな・・・」なんて後悔しつつ、準備完了。9時半には宿を出て一路南へ。

While puting luggauges on Esperanza, I was thinking "I should have stayed here one more da y...", but anyway, I got ready to go by 9:30am. I headed south to Lithuania.

ラトビアの道は相変らずつまらないです。工事中もあり、今日は普段よりも注意力が落ちているのでゆっくりと時速90キロ前後で走行します。

The road of Lavia was still boring. There were a few places under construction, soI had to slow down. Well, my consentration was not as good as usual, so I needed to slow down anyway. I was cruising around 90km/h.

リガから90キロ足らずでバルト三国最後の国（ワシにとって）リトアニアに入国。42カ国目。まぁ、国境をまたいでも風景は変わりません。

Less than 90km from Riga, I crossed theborder to Lithuania. The 42nd contry to visit on this trip! But the landscape was the same sa Latvia, still a boring road continued...

変わったと言えば、舗装状態が悪くなったこと。「轍（わだち）」が酷いのです。舗装が薄いのでしょうか、トラックなどの重量で舗装ごと地面が凹んでしまうのでしょう。

Oh, one thing changed. The road condition was pretty bad. There were ruts on the road. I guess the asphalt was not laid think enough, so over the period of time, those weights of heavy trucks made those ruts...

そうそう、リトアニアに入ってから晴れ間が広がり、ちょっといい気分。お昼になったので給油とお昼休み。リトアニアも独自の通過リット（Lit）があるのですが、クレジットカード払いが出来るので換金も引き出しもしないで済みます・

It got sunny after In entered Lithuania. The good weather made me feel good! I made a lunch and fuel stop at a petrol station. Lithuania also has its own currency Lits, but I could pay with a creadit card - no eed to withdraw or exchange money.

当初は「リトアニア第二の都市カウナス（Kaunas）辺りで今日は休もうかな」、なんて思っていたのですが、カウナス手前で見つけたモーテルはなんか営業してないみたいで、運転していると意外と体調不良は気にならないもので、「まぁ、進んでしまおう」、ということになり、カウナスを過ぎ更に進みます。

I was thinkng to stay a night at Kaunas - the 2nd largest city in Lithuania, but a motel I found just before Kaunas was closed. WhenI was riding, I did not feel that bad, so I kept riding.

カウナスを過ぎるとポーランド国境までは目と鼻の先なんです。「リトアニアで一泊すると現地通貨の調達しないといけないなぁ（軽い食事をしたりするには現金でないと）。」、なんて考えて、「ポーランドに行ってしまおう」、ということになりました。

From Kaunas to the border of Poland is not far at all. So I decided to go to Poland. If I would stay a night in Lithuania, I would have to exchange some money to get Lits as I need cash to have a cheap meal. 

「あ、一枚も写真とってないや」、ってことでガソリンスタンドで停まって写真を一枚。ヒツジもリトアニアの空気を吸うことが出来ました。

I did not take any photo in Lithuania, so I made a short stop at a petrol station and took a photo. Mr. Sheep could feel the air of Lithuania too!


そして43カ国目、ポーランドに入国!!　国境を越えて直ぐに「Free @」のサインが見えたので休憩所に行って見ると、そこにはライダーが。YAMAHA Super Tenere 750に乗ったイタリア人のフランチェスコ。

Then I entered the 43rd country to visit, Poland! I saw a sign "Free @" just after In crossed the border. So I pulled over at a rest are where I met Francesco from Italy. He was on YAMAHA Super Tenere 750.


彼は大学生で、休みを利用してノールカップまでツーリングしその帰りだとか!!　やるなぁ。来年卒業したら東欧を抜けて、ロシア、モンゴル、そしてサハリン、日本とツーリングしたい、とフランチェスコ。

He was on a uni holiday and rode up to Nordkapp! He is planning to ride across Eurasia to Japan next year!


もしかしたらシベリア辺りで再会かもね。Facebookとメールアドレスの交換をして別れました。

We might catch up smewhere in SIberia next year. We exchange our Facebook and e-mail address.

天気がいいので気温も上がり、風邪対策で着込んでいるワシは汗だく。これじゃぁ、余計に悪化してしまう。しばらく走りSzczebra（なんて発音するのかわかりません）を過ぎたところにレストランとモーテルと一緒になっているのを見つけたので、ここで一泊することに。朝食付きで個室120ズウォティ（PLN）。3,000円くらいですか。

As it was sunny, it got really hot in Poland. A week ago or so, Francesco and I were in freezing Arctic climate. It was hard to imagine. I was wearing the inner jacket to keep me warm, but now I was swaeting a lot inside! It would make my condition worse... As I started to get tired, I found a motel /restaurant just after Szczebra, and I decided to stay a night here. The rent was 120PLN (US$36) including breakfast. Little expensive, but I needed a private roo to get really well.

I put a cover onEsperanza, just in case.


チェックインをしてシャワーを浴びたら一休み。ネットが遅い・・・。

After check-in, I took a shower and relaxed. The Internet connection was terrile slow...

夕飯は下のレストランで。ポーランドの郷土料理「ピズィ（Pyzy）」を食べたかったのですが、「今日は無いよ」と。フム。なのでソーセージとフレンチフライとサラダ。これに飲み物が付いて24.50PLN。

I had dinner at the restaurant down stair. I wanted to have Polsh potato dumplings "Pyzy", but it wasn't available tday... So I had sausages with French fries and salad. With a drink it cost 24.50PLN (US$7.50).


ちょっと高いですが、まぁ、栄養をつけるために奮発です。

I guess it was quite expensive but I needed to have a good meal to give myself good nutritions!

さて、明日は朝ゆっくりしてワルシャワまで350キロ走ります。

I will spend he morning relaxed and then ride to Warsaw tomorrow. It would be around 350km or so.

バルト三国の一つリトアニアは通り過ぎてしまいました。まぁ、いいでしょう。ポーランド、なかなかイイ感じです。期待が持てます。明日は首都ワルシャワでマサ君と再会予定です。
まだまだ体調は万全ではないですが、かなり気分は良くなりました。
