今日は曇りがち。朝から税関からの電話を待ちますがいっこうに電話は掛かってきません。
昼前にスーパーExitoに行き買いだし。一体ここにどれくらい滞在するか未定なのでとりあえず食料を3日分くらい買いました。

昼飯後昼寝。4時前に起きたら雨が降ってます。あー、また雨か・・・。
司馬遼太郎の対談集「アジアの中の日本」。モンゴルに行って見たいなぁ。ていうか行きます。

夕方マークとバイクについて歓談してたらノアの友達のジュリアナが色々ワシ等に聞いてきました。マークもあまりスペイン語得意じゃないので質問がよくわかりません。残念です。

7時ごろにカオルさんが到着。クライディーを迎えにメキシコシティーに戻って以来の再会ですね。丁度1ヵ月ぶりですね。Exitoに再び買出しに行き晩飯に野菜炒めを一緒に作りました。

カオルさんはワシがこれから行くキトやカリにいたので参考になります。しばらく話をしてました。

It was cloudy this morning but not raining. I was waiting for a call from DIAN but there was no call for me....

I went to Supermarket Exito to buy food stuffs. I am not sure how long more I will stay here, so I just got 3 days worth of foods.

After lunch I had a nap and when I woke up at 4pm, it was raining hard. Again....

In the afternoon, I read "Japan in Asia" by Ryotaro Shiba. This book made me want to go to Mongolia. Well I am going there definitely!

My friend Kaoru had arrived around 7pm. It's been a month sice I saw him in Mexico City. We went to Exito to get more stuffs and cooked dinnner together. He just came from Quito and Cali, where I will go next, so his information is very valuable. We talked till late.

Day 261 : 2011年4月11日

昨日あれから考えて、イギリス人ライダーのマークとクレア、ノアもここに残れというのでペルミソを延長することにしました。クラウディア曰く明日申請すれば火曜日か水曜日には許可が出るとのこと。今まで何人ものライダーがここに宿泊しているのでクラウディアは色々知っています。

昨晩は夜中までノア、チャーリー、チャーリーの彼女（名前忘れました）、スコット、クラウディアと歓談。ノアが色々地元の友達を紹介してくれるというのでしばらくここに留まるのも悪くないかも。でも雨季が本格的に来る前に前進したいところですよね。

朝8時に起きるとなんと晴れてます。青空です・・・。留まると決めるとこれだからなぁ。まぁ天気がいいことはうれしいことです。クラウディアが税関（DIAN)に電話してくれて何が必要か,、税関のどの係りに申請するかを確認。必要書類はパスポート、出入国スタンプ、登録証、ペルミソなどのコピーと何で延長するか説明する手紙、係りはCubiculo Documentacion Aduaneraです。手紙はクラウディアが書いてくれました。いろいろお世話になりますクラウディア。Muchas gracias!!

インターネットカフェに行き手紙を印刷しコピーを撮ります。そしてメトロ・アルプハラ駅（Alpujarra）近くにある税関（DIAN）のオフィスまで。オフィスに行くと行列が出来てます。これは大分待たされるな、と思いましたが結構流れていきます。セキュリティーにどの部署にいきたいか伝えると「あそこのテーブルだよ」と教えてくれました。

テーブルに行きお姐さんに手紙と書類を渡して手紙のコピーに受付のスタンプとサインをもらい終了。明日か明後日にバイクを実際持って行き検査を受けて許可が下りるとのこと。

お昼をSan Antonio駅近くの食堂で。スープ、ご飯、肉、煮マメ、野菜、ドリンクが付いて4,300ペソ（2.5米ドル）は安いですね。久しぶりにまともな食事をしました。キューバから帰ってきてからパンとインスタントラーメンの日々ですから。しかもキューバでの食事も健康的ではなかったのでそろそろちゃんと食べないと体調壊しますからね。

宿に戻りマークとクレアと歓談。これからのルートのこと今までの旅のことを話しました。そしてマークが老いる高官を始めたのでちょっと手伝いをしながらおしゃべり。まぁ、彼の作業の邪魔をしてるわけですね。オイルのレベルを測るディップスティックが折れてオイルタンクに入ったままなのでマジックハンドでなんとか取り出しました。このマジックハンドを捜すのに相当苦労したそうです。写真とればよかった。

ネットをしてるとカオルさんが明日ココに来るそうです。今日出発しなくて良かったです。そしてイドさんは無事キトに到着したそうです。ここからキトまで登ったり降ったり大変でしたでしょうに。

夕方ノアと連れ立って散歩。駅前のキオスク・カフェで店員のお姐さんとお客さんと歓談。ノアはここに20年もいるので（ずっと住んでるわけではないんでしょうが）スペイン語がペラペラです。何を話しているのかはわかるんですが、まだまだ口を挟めるレベルじゃないですね、ワシは。

宿に戻り夕飯を食べてあとはのんびりです。

Well, I decided to extend my Permiso after talking with Mark, Clare, Claudia and Noah. Once extended, I have more options. If I want to spend more time in Colombia, I can do that. 

But thi morning, I saw the blue sky!!! The rain clouds were all cleared. After I decided to stay here longer because of the bad weather, then the weather turned to be good. It happens.

Claudia made a phone call to her friend in Custom (DIAN) and found out what I need (each copy of Passport, Arrival / Depature stamp, the title of the vehicle, Permiso, a letter explaining why I need the extension) and which department I should hand in the application (Cubiculo Documentacion Aduanera). As a few riders stayed here before had done this, she knows people at DIAN to help us. She wrote the letter for me as well. Muchas gracias, Claudia.

Then I went to an Internet Cafe to print out the letter and take photocopies. 

DIAN is located near Metro Alpujarra. There was a long queue in front of the DIAN office. I though I had to wait for a long time, but the queue was moving forward really quickly. The security office told me to go to the table stating "Documentacion Aduanera". 

At the desk, I just handed in the documents and she gave me back a copy of the letter with the stamp and her signature to acknowledge the acceptance of the application.

I had lunch at a restautant near Metro San Antonio. The meal came with soup, rice, meat, veges, beans and drink, and costs COP4,300 (US$2.5), which was really a good value. I hadn't eaten any proper meal since I came back from Cuba. The meals in Cuba were not very health eaither, so I needed to feed myself with something good.  

Back to the hostel, I had chat with Mark and Clare about our trips. Then Mark started to change his engine oil, I was watching his action.

In the afternoon, I went for a walk with Noah. We had a cup of coffee at a KIOSK in front of Metro Suramericana. We talked with a girl working there and a customer. They were interested in speaking in English and Noah was giving them some English lesson.

Day 260 : 2011年4月10日

キューバの日記ついに書き終えました（パート 1, 2, 3)。以前に読まれた方も更新されているのでもう一度ご覧ください！

今朝は雨が降ってました。9時ごろには止みましたが、明日出発するつもりなのでちょっと憂鬱です。朝のうちはキューバの日記の編集。ようやく完了しました。そしてメデジンに戻ってからの日記もアップ。

洗濯を済まし、これから先のキト（Quito）までの宿を調べます。やはり駐車場がある（か敷地内に駐車できる）宿でないと泊まれないので転ばぬ先の杖的に一応どんなオプションがあるのか調べます。

幸いイギリス人ライダーのクレアがコロンビア国内の宿情報を持ってましたのでそれを参考にさせてもらいました。GPSコードまであるのでGPSに入力しました。明日目指すカリ（Cali）は460Km先、GPSによると6時間コースです（なので8時間はかかりますね）。明日早目に出発しないと日暮れまでに到着できないな。登りに降りに沢山のカーブ。トラックが道をふさいでるのでペースは遅くなるでしょう。

カリは大都市なので何件か安宿があります。そのうちの3軒はバイクを駐車出来るそうです。

カリから国境までまた500キロ弱くらいありそうです。なので国境までは早くて2日、遅くて4日かかりそうです。期限は22日なので問題はないのですが、15日からセマナ・サンタ（復活祭・イースター）に入るのでそれまでにキトに到着したいのです。

コピー屋にロンプラ（ロンリープラネット= 旅行ガイドブック）の地図をコピーしに行きましたが生憎閉まってます。そうか日曜日でしたね。

結局午後からまた雨。これじゃ何処にもいけません。
ネットをしたりロンプラを読んだり。

女将のクラウディア（クライディーじゃないです、クラウディアです。しつこいですね!）に「予定通り明日出るつもりだよ」と伝えると、「天気が悪いからもう少し待ったほうが良いのでは?｣と。「バイクの滞在許可が切れるんだよ」と言うと、「簡単に延長できるわよ。過去に何人もやってるわよ」とのこと。明日朝天気が悪かったらそうしようかな。でも既に雨季に入ってるみたいだし（今年は早かった）、この先待っても天気が好転する可能性も低いんですよね。だったら、濡れるのを覚悟で南下するしかないですよね。

てなわけで、出発するかは明朝決めます。


Day 260 : 10 APR 2011

It was raining this morning, though it stopped around 9am. I am thinking to leave here tomorrow, so I hope it will be dry tomorrow.

Finished off mu Cuban diaries (in Japanese) and updated diaries of  since I returned to Medellin.

I checked the route to Quito and found out if there would be any hostel with a bike parking space. Luckily Clare - the British rider - has the information, she shared it to me. There were GPS cordinates as well, so I keyedin cordinates to my GPS. Thanks, Clare! 

According to GPS, Cali - my next desitination - will be 460km away and it will take 6 hours (so it would take 8 hours).  So if I don't leave here early in the morning, I will not get there before sunset... There should be lots of curves and up and down. Trucks and buses will be slowing down the traffic...

From Cali to the border, it looks like there is some 500km or so. So if I am quick, I can get to the border in 2 days. If slow, 4 days. My temporary permit for the motorcycle expires on 22 APR, so there should be enough time. But Semana Santa (Easter Holiday) is comming. I want to be in Quito before then.

I went to a photocopier to take copies of maps, but they were closed. It is Sunday, of course!

It rained again from afternoon. I cannot go anywhere...
Net surfing and reading Lonely Planet.

Claudia asked me why don't I wait for a few days as the weather has been really bad recently. I explained the permit expires soon. She said it is easy to get 30 days extension. It will take a day only. Well that is a good option. But it seems the rainy season started early this year. It is rare chance that the weather gets better over the few days. So I will make a decision tomorrow morning. If it is raining, I will go for the extension. If not, I will take off!

Day 259 : 2011年4月9日

Ruta 40に行ってタイヤを購入しました。キューバに行く前はフロントはボリビアで買えるからリアタイヤだけ運べばいいとスタッフのカルロスは言ってたのですが、今日は「もしかしたら買えないかもしれないからフロントもここで買ったほうが良い」と。

が、しかし、フロントタイヤが無い!　ボリビアで交換する予定なのでTKC80のフロントがベストなんですけど、在庫が無い。仕方が無いのでリアを購入することに。リアは今はいているのと同じMetzelerのTouranceが良いとのこと。440,000ペソ（約240米ドル）です。ラスベガスでの値段とほぼ同じですね。そしたら、カルロスが「中古だけど殆ど新品のこれも持っていけ」とTouranceのフロントタイヤをくれました。「ボリビアで買えたらTKC80にフロントを交換すればいい。無かったらこれを使いなさい」と。なんて優しいんだ。ありがとう、カルロス。

さてと問題はどうやって運ぶかですね。カルロスはBMWのストラップ2本で括り付けましたが、一応安定しているみたいです。しかしタイヤを乗せたままだとトップボックスが開きません。パニアの開閉もしずらくなりそうですね。

宿に戻り早速荷物を積み直してみます。お昼を挟んでまた積み直したり。イギリス人ライダーのマークの意見も取り入れて試行錯誤してようやく納得できる形となりました。しかし箱の開閉が楽じゃないな・・・。ボリビアでタイヤ交換するまでしばらく不便ですね。検問とかで「荷物開けろ」と言われたら大変そうですね。検問に遭わないことを願う。

 そしてまたキューバの日記の編集。まだまだ終わらない。8時ごろになって実家にスカイプで電話。久しぶりに両親の声を聞きました。日本の現状を聞きキューバでの出来事を報告。家族ってやっぱりいいですね。

それからまた日記の編集。夜中の12時近くになってようやくほぼ完成。仕上げは明日の朝だな。


Day 259 : 09 APR 2011

I went to Ruta 40 to purchase a rear tire. Acording to Carlos, before I went to Cuba, I should be able to buy a front tire in Bolivia, so I need to carry a rear tire only. However, he said, I'd better buy a front tre here as well. I guess he is right, as there is always a possibilty that I cannot get what I want on the spot. But, but, a problem here! Ruta 40 does not have a front knobby tire for my size on teh stock....
So I have to take a chance to find it in Bolivia, it looks like...

Anyway, I had to buy a rear tire. He recommended me to get Metzeler Tourance instead of TKC80. Well I took it. It costs COP440,000 around US$240, almost the same price as it was in the States. Not a bad price at all. Then Carlos found something for me from the ile of used tires. He took a used Tourance front tire from the pile and gave it to me for free. It is almost brand new and he said if I cannot find TKC80 in Bolivia, at least I can use this even though it will not be the best tire for Bolivian roads. Muchas gracias, Carlos!!

The problem now is how I can carry those tires. Carlos gave me 2 of BMW straps and he tied the tires with them It looked pretty secured. 

Back to Hostal Medelin, I started to put all gears and tires to find the best setup. I tried different options againand again and it continued after lunch. 

Mark, the British rider, gave me advises and finally I got the setup I can be happy with. 
HOwever, with the tires on, I cannot open the top box and opening panniers would be harder as well. Til I change the tires in Bolivia, I have to endure the inconvenience. I think if I am asked to open the boxes at those security check points, it would be hussle to do so... I hope I will not see those check points.

Then I wrote Cuban diaries. Stll not completed... I called my parents in the evening and found out they are doing OK and told them the things in Cuba. Talking to my parents made me relaxed.

I continued writing Cuban diaries till midnight. Finally I almost completed them. I thin I can finish them off tomrrow morning, but English parts have not been done at all....

Day 258 : 2011年4月8日

昨日雨に濡れたせいでしょうかちょっと風邪気味ですね。とりあえずDHLが荷物を届けてくれるのを待ちます。
キューバの日記の編集で時間があっというまに経ちます。

トシさんは今夜ボゴタに移動するので朝からグアタペ観光に行きました。

DHLはお昼前に来ました。124,000ペソ（約70米ドル）の関税を支払って受け取り。中にはオーストラリアの運転免許証、Pod Castの「旅バイク」のタオル、オーストラリア国旗のステッカーが入ってました。早速オーストラリア国旗を風防とパニアに貼り付けます。

この旅に出てからオーストラリアの素晴らしさを再認識させられて、「もっとオーストラリア色を出してもよかったな」と思ってたんでオーストラリア国旗はうれしいですね。なんせ16年間も住んだ国ですもの。

お昼を食べて郵便局へ行ってメキシコ・中米の地図やキューバで買った葉書などを実家に送ろうと思ってたのですが、体調が悪いので昼寝。結局5時ごろまで寝てました。

夜はトシさんと8時過ぎに旅立つまで歓談。トシさんお互い日本のために努力していきましょう。残りの旅楽しんでください！

それから夜までキューバの日記の編集。終わりそうに無いな、これ。英語版は省こうかな・・・。

As I was wet by rain last night, I caught cold... Anyway I had to wait for DHL to delivre my package from Australia, I was writing diaries of my Cuban vacation. Diaries for 15 days! So it took long time to write, but stil not completed.

Toshi went to Guatape from the morning.
 
The package arrived efore lunch time. I payed COP 124,000 for custom clearance... Inside the package, there were my new Driver's License, a hand towel designed for motorcycle travellers, Australian flag stickers. 

Since  started this trip, I realised how great country Australia is. And I regreted that I did not have anything Australian with me. So putting Australian flags on my GS made me realy happy. I should be pround to be an Astralian resident. I lived there for 16 years!     

I was thinkng to go to Post Office after lunch to send those maps of Mexico and Central America and postcards bought in Cuba. But I did not feel good, so I went to take a nap. I slept till 5pm.

I talked with Toshi until 8ish untl he left to Bogota. Hope he will have a good time for the rest of his trip.

Till midnight I was writing the diaries of Cuba, nut still not completed. Not sure when those wold be completed in English.
