今日はイド氏とマサさんとメルカドで昼飯を食べたり、カフェで歓談したりとゆっくりと過ごしました。

ピサック、ワイナピチュで歩きすぎたためか右足と腿の裏っ側が痛いんですよね。

天気も良かったですし、街をブラブラするには良い日でした。

さて、いつ出発しようかな。日曜日にクスコに到着するはずのアダムはまだ来ないし。
うーん、マーク＆クレアはバイクの修理でリマでスタックしてるので再会は無理そうなのですが、アダムやウベとの再会を楽しみにしてるのになぁ。

Cusco (Estrellita)

Today, Jose, Masa and I walked around the town. We had lunch at Mercado, had a cuppa at a cafe, and so on. It was a beautiful day, so it was good to walk around.

But my right foot and back side of the thigh were aching a lot. I gies I walked too much in Pisac and Waynapichu.

I wonder where Adam and Uwe. Adam supposed to be here on Sunday, but he hasn't turned up. Mark & Claire should be spending time in Lima fixing Mark's leaking fork seals.

Should I spend more time in Cusco, or make advance to Arequipa? That is the question.

Aguas Calientes to Cusco (Hostal Estrellita)

今日はアグアス・カリエンテスからオジャンタイタンボまで電車に乗り、オジャンタイタンボからコレクティーボでクスコに帰ってきました。








オジャンタイタンボの遺跡はマンコ・インカがスペイン軍を撃退したところです。なかなかの遺跡ですが、マチュピチュを見た後ですし、疲れてるので気分は盛上がりせんね。







しかし頂の上に巨石があるのがすごいですね。どうやって運んだのか・・・。これは見ごたえがありますねぇ。

コレクティーボで2時間弱でクスコへ。やはり景色はいいですね。宿に戻ってゆっくり休みました。

Aguas Calientes to Cusco (Hostal Estrellita)

Today we caught a train from Aguas Calientes to Ollayntaytambo, then looked around the ruins of Ollantaytambo, and then caught a collectivo back to Cusco.

Ollantaytambo, where Manco Inca defeated Spanish conquistadores. The ruins would be impressive, if we had not seen Machu Picchu, but after seeing Machu Picchu, it wasn't that great. 

But those gigantic monoliths structure on the top of the ruins were very impressive. We wondered how those Incas could carry such gigantic monoliths there. For there, it was worth seeing the ruins

We caught a collectivo back to Cusco. It took 2 hours. The scenery was great. We were very tired, so we went back to out hostels and had a good rest.

Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu to Aguas Calientes (Hostal Number One)

さて今日はあのマチュピチュにい行く日。南米北部のハイライトです。
朝3時半に起きるつもりが起きたのは4時半。バスの始発は5時半なのですが、すでに行列が出来ています。

一体何人並んでいるのだろう?　この他に朝早くから歩いている人がいるので、400人以上先客がいるみたいですねぇ。バスのチケットは昨日既に買っていて、片道22ソル。高いですねぇ。

バスに乗り込んだのは6時前。まだ朝日は昇ってません。それからマチュピチュまで山を登っていきます。九十九折の登り道。上まで上がるとマチュピチュの一部が見えてきます。25分でマチュピチュの入り口まで到着。

マチュピチュの入り口には「マチュピチュ・サンクチャリ・ロッジ」という馬鹿高いホテルがあります。1泊700ドル以上から。しかし、遺跡の横というか、「遺跡内ですよね、ここ」、という場所にこんなの建てていいのかなぁ。

入り口でも行列が出来てます。かなり待たされてようやくマチュピチュ内へ。イド氏と相談していちおうワイナピチュ登り口まで言ってみよう、といくことになり目指します。

登り口で400人限定チケットを配っていると聞いたいたもので。遺跡内を突っ切ります。それにしても、マチュピチュ、イイですねぇ。かなりの人がワイナピチュを目指さずに写真を撮ったりしてます。これはチャンス有り、か!

しかし！ワイナピチュ登り口で行列に並んで待っていると、「スタンプが無い人は駄目だよ」と。どうも遺跡入り口で先着400人にスタンプが押されるそうです。なるほど、だからスタンプを押してもらった人は余裕で写真を撮っていたんだな…。

7時の部と10時の部で200人ずつ。もし8時までに200人来なかったら余った人数は入れるそうです。まだ望みはある、ということですね。

8時近くになってまだ180人くらいしか来てないそうです。しかしワシらの後ろに並んでいる人は係員に文句を言ったりしてます。説明不足だと。うーん、君らの言うことも分かるけど、一応そういうルールなんだよ…。

で、8時20分頃になってようやくスタンプ無しに順番が廻ってきました!　イド氏は189番、ワシは190番、ギリギリでしたね。

ワイナピチュを登り始めます。マチュピチュを見下ろす感じになるんですが、イイですねぇ。これは待った甲斐があります。しかし登りは結構キツイ。40分くらいで頂上に到着。ここにも遺跡があるんです。インカ、凄いなぁ。

マチュピチュを見下ろし、周りには雪山。絶景かな。これは多くの観光客が来たがるはずです。ワイナピチュに登れてよかったぁ。しばらく頂上で休憩。持ってきたお菓子を食べます。


それからマチュピチュに戻る、という手もあったのですが、ぐるっと廻るコースを。あと1時間半かかるそうです。








これが失敗。最初かなり降りて行って、また上るんです。暑いし。大したもの見れないし。ここで無駄な体力を使ってしまいました。

マチュピチュに戻ると、まずは休憩。それから遺跡を堪能しました。マチュピチュ、いいですねぇ。


太陽を溜める石（インティアウナ）とか、神殿とか。イイですねぇ。建築的にはサクサイワマンの方がワシは好きですが、このロケーションはズルイ。

きっちりとインカ・ブロックを使った建物もありますが、ただ単に石を積み上げたものもあります。水路があり水が流れてますが、水源にはホースで水を引いてました。

段々畑も見事ですな。十分にマチュピチュを堪能できました。

1時ごろになって、お腹も空いたし、疲れたしで帰ることに。トイレは入り口の外にしかありません。使用料1ソル。売店や自動販売機でインカ・コーラが10ソル（3.5ドル）。日本の観光地よりもボッタクリです。

バスでアグアス・カリエンテスまで帰り、中華の昼飯。カフェで珈琲の飲んで、街をブラブラ。

夜は飯屋でアルパカ・ステーキ（まぁ、肉は薄いですが）を10ソルで。本当にアルパカ肉なのかは分かりませんが、牛肉よりもあっさりした赤みで、やわらかくで美味しいです。ラクダの親類なのでよくにた感じですね。

ブラブラしていたら大雨が降ってきました。土産屋街で雨宿り。
ちょっと食べたり無かったので中華でチャーハンを。ここのチャーハンは今まで食べた中で最悪ですな…。「Chifa Taypa」という店。行かないほうがいいです。

今日は疲れきったので、早めに寝ました。明日はオジャンタイタンボまで電車で行き、遺跡を見学してからコレクティーボでクスコに帰ります。

Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu to Aguas Calientes (Hostal Number One)

Today I visited Machu Picchu, it's the highlight of the northern part of South America.

Jose and I supposed to wake up at 3:30am, but we woke up after 4:30am.... By the time we got to the bus stop, there was a long long queue. It looked like we missed out first 400 people for Waynapichu climb.

The first bus left there at 5:30am. We got on a bus just before 6am. On top of those people before us, there should be many people walking up to Machu Picchu. The bus ticket cost 22 Soles one way (US8). It'S very expensive.

The ride to the entrance was 25mins. There was a long long quue again in front of the entrance.... I wondered how many people would be visiting Machu Picchu a day. I heard 2,000＋visitors a day. It could be more.

There was a hotel "Machu Picchu Sanctuary Lodge", just in front of the entrance. Here is already inside of teh ruins of Machu Picchu. It was suprising that the gorvernment and UNESCO allowed to construct such hotel there. The room cost from US$700 a night.

The gate was opened at 6am, but we got inside around 7am. It was stil dark (the sun was behind those mountains), but the scenery was great. So many people was taking photos. So we thought we might have a chance to grave the spots for Waynapichu, so we hurried to the entrance to Waynapichu.

There was a queue, again... but wasn't that long. We lined up there and waited for our turn, hoping we could get the spots. But just before our turn, we heard that if we did not have a stamp on our ticket, we missed out the spot... That was unexpected. What we heard before was we could get a ticket (first come, first served) at the entrance of Wayapichu. But the reality was the first 400 entered Machu Picchu got a stamp on ther ticket to climb up Waynapichu.

But we still had a chance. There were 2 sections, 7am and 10am, and 200 people for each section allowed to climb up Waynapichu. So by 8am, less than 200 people with stamp turned up, we might grave the spots left.

Then we got ones! Jose got 189th spot and I got 190th! We were lucky! The climb was a little hard (30-40mins climb), but the view from Waynapichu was magnificent!! It's worth climbing up there. What surprised me was there were ruins on the top of Waynapichu. I wondered how those Incas carried stone blocks.

We could look down Machu Picchu and could see snow capped mountains surrunding the site. Very very beautiful. No woner, lots of people want to visit here.  

We had a little rest on the top of Waynapichu. Had snack bars there. We could go back to Machu Picchu (going back the same route) or taking the long loop back to Machu Pichu (2.5 hours walk). We took the long one. And it was a wrong choice... There wasn't much to see and very very tiring.

Finally we came back to Pachu Picchu. We had to take a rest before exploring the ruins. 

Machu Picchu was very impressive. The quality of stone craft was better in Saqusaywaman, but the set up of the ruins was much better here. Even though we were very very exhaused, we had great time in Machu Picchu. 

One thing we did not like was (as everyone feel the same, probably) the number of tourists visited there. That spoiled the atmosphere.  

Around 1pm, we where so exhaused and hungry, so we decided to head back to Aguas Calientes. Toilets were only located outside of the entrance and it cost 1 Sol to get in. A can of Inca Kola cost 10 Soles... What a rip off....

We took a bus back to Aguas Calientes, and had Chinese for lunch. We took a rest at a cafe, then we had a break back in the hostel.

We had Alpaca steak for dinner (10 Soles). The portion wasn't enough, but the meat was tender and taste good. We had the second dinner at another Chinese restaurant "Taypa", it was the worst chinese meal ever!!

Tomorrow, we catch a train back to Ollantaytambo, explore the ruins of Pllantaytambo, then catch a Collectivo back to Cusco.

Day 350: 2011年7月9日

Cusco to Aguas Calientes (Hostal Number One)

今日はマチュピチュの最寄の街アグアス・カリエンテス（マチュピチュ村）まで行きました。

9時にイド氏が来たので歩いてオジャンタイタンボ(Ollantaytambo)行きのコレクティーボ乗り場まで歩き。
歩いていたら「オジャンタイタンボ!」と呼び込みがあったのでそのコレクティーボに乗り込みました。ヒャンダイのバンです。乗って直ぐにイド氏がカメラを忘れたことが発覚!　もう宿に戻るにも時間が…。

運転手が飛ばす飛ばす。ガンガン他の車を抜いてきます。クスコを出ると直ぐに氷河を頂いた山々が見えます。絶景ですね。フランクがあの道はイイよ、と言ってたのもうなずけます。


ロンプラには2時間半と書いてありましあtが、1時間半でオジャンタイタンボに到着。ここからペルーレイルの電車でアグアス・カリエンテスまでなのですが、電車は1時に出発予定。時刻は11時前。カメラ取りに帰れたじゃん。
しかし、ワシらのコレクティーボが特別に速かったのかも。はてどうやって時間をつぶしましょうかね。

メルカドで3ソルの昼飯を食べて、カフェで2.5ソルの旨くない珈琲を飲む。

そして電車に乗り込みます。何故かお見合い席なんですね。荷物を置くと足の置き場に困ります。途中の景色は良かったですね。ワシの横のベルギー姉ちゃんは何枚も写真撮ってました。

1時間半でアグアス・カリエンテスに到着。3時前です。宿は歩いてたら警官(?)が「安い宿に連れて行ってあげるよ」と言って「Number One」という宿に連れて行かれました。ツインで50ソル。1人25ソルなのでまぁ、安いほうなんじゃないのでしょうか。まぁ、このときは気が付かなかったのですが、ダンゴ虫が出そうなちょっとかび臭い部屋でしたね。

それから街に出ます。しかし小さな街なのでやること無し。レストランとかも観光地価格。さてどうするか、と観光案内に行ってもあんまり役に立たなかったし。線路のそばを歩いていたら日本人の女の子2人組みエリカちゃんとノゾミちゃんと出会いました。彼女たちは今日マチュピチュを見て6時の電車で帰るそうですがそれまでの話し相手になってくれました。クスコからツアーを申し込んで来たそうですが、ツアーに含まれているはずのものが含まれてなかったり、散々だったそうです。ワイナピチュにも登り損ねたとか。可哀想。

彼女たちを見送った後、夕飯。線路沿いの2階にあるレストランが15ソルのメニューで美味しかった。ペルーで食べた中で一番のクオリティーかも。スープ、ドリンク、メインが付いて観光地で15ソルでこのクオリティーはお勧めですね。
名前は「Mayu何とか」でした。

明日ワイナピチュを登る為に（1日400人限定）、早起きしようと早く布団に入りましたが、ダンゴ虫の話題で結局眠りに付いたのは12時頃でした。明日起きられるかなぁ。

Cusco to Aguas Calientes (Hostal Number One)

Today we got to Aguas Calientes, AKA, Machu Picchu Pueblo.

Jose came to my hostel around 9am, and we walked to a place where we can catch a collectivo to Ollantaytambo.

Just before we took off, Jose found out he left his camera somehwere. Most likely at his hostel. But we thought we had no toime to go back to his hostel, so we took off to Ollantaytambo.

The scenert to Ollantaytambo was great. I will ride through the route before taking off to Arequipa.

According to Lonely Planet, it would take 2 1/2 hours to Ollantaytambo, but we got there within 1 1/2 hour. We could go back to Jose's hostel to look for his camera!

Out train was due on 1pm, but the time was 11:30am. So we went to Mercado to have lunch and had a cuppa at a cafe to kill out time.

The view fromthe train was also great. A girl next to me was taking tons of photos. It was around 1 1/2hr ride to Aguas Calientes. Once we got from the train, there was a market selling those souvenirs. We were looking for cheap hostels, and a policeman took us to "Hostal Number one". The twin room was 25 Soles each. So we decided to stay there. But at that time what we did not realised was the room was musty.

We went out to the village and visisted the Information Center, but there wasn't much to do in this village. We had to kill our time. While we were walking, we met 2 Japanese girls, Erika and Nozomi. They just came back from Machu Picchu and we talked about our trips. They were taking 6pm train back to Ollantaytambo, so till then we talked.

After seeing them off, Jose and I went to have dinner. The restaurant we entered ofer 15 Soles menu and the quality of meal was excellent and considering the touristic location of this place, the price was right. What a great value.

Tomorrow we are going to Machu Picchu. We bought a ticket for Machu Picchu (126 Soles) and a bus ticket (22 Soles). We try to get a ticket for Waynapichu (only 400 issued a day). So we have to get up early.

Day 349: 2011年7月8日

いやー、今日は疲れましたが、充実した一日となりました。











先ず朝コリカンチャ宮殿跡へ（サン・ドミンゴ寺院）。ここはパチャクテック（たぶん）が建てた宮殿跡でスペインに征服される前は黄金で覆われていたそうです。やはりインカの石ブロックは素晴らしいですねぇ。これを破壊してグロテスクな寺院を建てたカトリックはやはり嫌いですね。

それからバスに乗ってピサク（Pisac)遺跡へ。1時間バスに揺られてピサックの街へ。昼飯を食べて、さて遺跡は何処かいな?　タクシーに値段を聞いたのですが「20ソル」とぬかすので歩いていくことに。ちょっと歩くと2人組みの兄ちゃんが山から降りて来たので「遺跡までどのくらい?」と訊いたら、「一時間くらいだよ」と爽やかに答えるので、なめきって山を登り始めました。

道路からそれて山道を行きます。それが長い長い。道路に出ると登りは緩やかになりますが、長い・・・。羊とヤギの群れに遭遇したり。2時間かけてようやく遺跡へ。








最初は来たことを後悔してたイド氏とワシですが、遺跡を見るにつれ、「来た甲斐があった!」と変わっていきました。ピサック、マチュピチュを超えているかも。観光客は少ないし、山の頂に石組みの遺跡、段々畑、水路、なかなかの景観です。この遺跡が有名じゃないのが不思議くらいですね。マチュピチュに比肩するんじゃないでしょうか。

遺跡と遺跡の間が結構離れているのでしばらく歩くと「またあった！」という驚きもありますね。下を見るとワシ等が登って来た道が見えます。よく登ったなぁ。通ってきた村々が遥か下界に見えます。

















面白いのがインカの整った石組みと野面積みみないに粗い石組みの建造物が見られることですね。時代が違うのか、それともプレ・インカの遺跡にインカが上乗せしたのか。それにしても、こんなに険しい所に居住するのは大変ですね。段々畑もかなり下のほうまでありますし。行き来するのが大変そう。






しかも周りの景色もいいですねぇ。見晴らし台とかあったり。防御にも力を入れていたのでしょうか。しかし、2時間もかけて登ったので疲れきったワシ等。遺跡全部見る体力は残されていませんでした。この遺跡、かなり広いんです。

帰りは裏口へ降りる道を。段々畑を降っていきます。しかしかなりの急勾配。登りはキツイだろうなぁ。降りているとピサックの街が見えてきました。本当に良く登ったものだ。



ピサック、クスコからバスで2.4ソル（1ドル以下）。ピサック村から歩いて2時間（裏口からだと登りは急勾配ですが時間は短縮できそうです）、最高です。周遊券で入れますしね。裏口から入るとタダですが。ここはお勧めです!!

バスでクスコに戻りもうクタクタ。夜はマサさんも誘ってアンティクーチョ屋コンドリートにて。明日はオジャンタイタンボまでコレクティーボで行ってそこからマチュピチュ村（アグアス・カリエンテス）まで電車（37ドル!!）。そこで1泊し日曜の早朝にマチュピチュに行きます。

しばらくネットにつながんないので、マチュピチュの報告はクスコに帰ってきてからになります。お楽しみに!!

Today Jose and I visited Quoricancha and the ruins of Pisac. 

Quoricancha was a palace built by Pachactec (I guess), covered by gold.... It was destroyed by Conquistadores and San Domingo Chrch was built on top.

The quality of Inca Blocks here was exquisite. Very impressive. I was very sad to see the amazing building was demorished and ugly church was built on top. 

Then we caught a bus to Pisac (2.40 Soles). It took one hour to get to the town of Pisac. We had lunch there and started to walk to the ruin. We asked a taxi driver the price anyway, but he said "20 Soles", so we walked up the mountain.

We met 2 guys coming down and we asked how long it would take to the ruins. hey saud "1 hour.". They did not look tired, so we thought it could be an easy walk up. But it wasn't. It took us 2 hours to get to the entrance of the ruins. We could see the road and trail we came up really really far down from the ruins...

We were so exhausted, we thought it wasn't worth visiting the ruins of Pisac, but  as we explored more, we were inpressed with the amazing views of the ruins. 

Pisac was just like a small Machu Picchu. The buildings were not as great as those of Machu Picchu (I reckon), but the terrances were very very nice. The mountains surrounding the site were beautiful as well. We liked there . We wondered why this site isn't as famous as Machu Picchu. We called it "The poor man's Machu Picchu".

The main complex of the site was pretty neat. Those stone blocks were in high quality. But why those Incas chose to live up on the hill. It wouldbe hard to go up and down everyday. It might be the security reason, but Incas were the strongest ones in Andes, no?

We found the way going down to the town of Pisac. We could see the town down there. The site was built really high up the mountain. The terrance farms were everywhere. Some even reached to the bottom of the mountain. Very impressive.

We took a collectivo back to Cusco (2.4 Soles). Tomorrow we go to Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu Pueblo). The train from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes cost US$37! Very expensive.
