Day 333: 2011年6月22日

Huanchaco (Naylamp)

今日はあまり調子がよくないのでチャンチャン遺跡とその周辺の遺跡を見学したらウアンチャコに戻って来るか先に進むか考えることにしました。

6時半に起床。8時過ぎには準備が出来ましたが、宿の精算をしたら、お釣りが無い、と。昨日払おうとしたときもお釣りが無い、とのことで払えなかったんですね。仕方が無く従業員がどこかにお釣りをもらいに行きました。こうして出発できたのは9時ごろです。

チャンチャン遺跡はウアンチャコから直ぐ近くにあります。博物館とその他2つの遺跡のセットで入園料12ソル。まぁ、チャンチャンがメインなんですけどね。

チャンチャン遺跡は日干し煉瓦で造られた世界最大の都市の遺跡だそうです。見渡す限りの泥砂山は遺跡なんですね。こりゃ、規模がデカイ。







結構手直しされているとは思いますが、魚やペリカンのレリーフなどなかなか味があります。チムー王国の首都だったみたいで、チャンチャンとは「輝ける太陽」の意だとか。あ、世界遺産です。チムー王国はインカと抗争を続けて頑強に抵抗したので滅ぼされた後チムー人だちは強制移住されたとか。1470年代に滅びたとか。スペイン人がインカを滅ぼした60年くらい前なんですね。






宮殿の真ん中に泉（池？）があり、まだ水をたたえてるんです。これは面白い。その奥に王宮があり、一番奥に王墓があります。全て日干し煉瓦で造ったんですね。在りし日のチャンチャンはどんな姿だったのでしょう。

博物館はパンアメリカンに出て直ぐ近くにあるのですが、見逃してしまいました。引き返して入館。うーん、大したことないですね。発掘された遺物は何処に所蔵されているのか??　それにしてもこの壷の絵、エジプトのトト神に見えませんか？







その他二つの遺跡Huacaは神殿ですね。石建築に優れた山間のクスコからやってきたインカと日干し煉瓦建築の海岸沿いに栄えたチムー。この二つの王国の戦いは興味があります。







ペルー特有の毛の無い犬がいます。あまり可愛くない・・・。右の写真は糞をしたあと砂をかける毛の無い犬です（神殿の上から撮影）。

4つ全部見学し終わって12時になりました。先に進むのにも太陽と月のピラミッドを見学してから進みたいので時間がありません。そこでウアンチャコに戻ることに。今日はクレアが紹介してくれたNaylampにキャンプです。ウアンチャコの街に入って先ずは昼飯。Menulandという飯屋にて。昨日食べたロモ・ソルタードというのをここでも食べてみました。やはり、美味い。これは当たりです。

日干し煉瓦造りの遺跡を見た後ウアンチャコの街を見て思ったのですが、この街は100年後どんな姿なのだろうか?と。まぁ、現在の文明が続いていればドンドン新生されていくのでしょうが、今の建造物は100年持つのかな?　怪しいな。

Naylampに行きテントを建てて（10ソル）今度はコレクティーボでトルヒーヨの街へ（1.60ソル）。「カシネリ博物館(Museo Cassinelli)の所蔵品は素晴らしい」とロンプラにあったので行ってみたくなったのです。それにしてもコレクティーボ、暴走します。道端に立ってたり歩いている人を見かけるたびに減速、声を掛けて乗せるか断られるか、で加速を繰り返します。そんなに加速をしてたら燃費悪いよ・・・。

博物館はRepsolのガソリンスタンドの裏手にあります。ボロイ・・・。個人所有の博物館みたいです。しかも3時まで開かないと。時間は2時50分。しかし3時10分まで待ちましたが、いっこうに開きません。なんか、しばらく空いてないようにも見えます。ガソリンスタンドに行って「博物館は開かないのですか？」と訊いたら、時計を見て「4時から」と。うーん、信用できねェな。体調も悪いし寒くなって来たので、帰ることに。

途中のショッピングモールに寄って買いだし。ここはマック、KFC、ピザハットなどがある別世界になってます。それからコレクティーボをつかまえて宿に戻ります。時間は4時半過ぎ。それにしてもマーク＆クレアはこないのかな？

Menulandで夜飯を食った後飯屋の姉ちゃんと話してたら、地元の学校の記念日パレードが。子供たちがワラワラと。
そしたらマーク&クレアが飯屋に現れました!　Naylampの前まで来たのですがガレージが無そうなので、昨日ワシが泊まってたHuanchaco Gardenに泊まってるとのこと。マークのXT600 Tenereのフォークシールが壊れたのでトルヒーヨで部品を探すので数日滞在するとか。

さて明日は太陽と月のピラミッドを見た後チンボテ辺りまで進みますかね。


Day 333: 2011年6月22日

Huanchaco (Naylamp)

I got up at 6am. I was not feeling very well. I was caughing more this morning. So I was goinf to decide if I was gonna stay in Huanchaco or go south after visiting Chan Chan and other sites.

I was to pay the rent (15 Soles), but I only had 50 Soles note (last night I wanted ti oay, but they did not have change), and they still did not have change. So one of the staff went somewhere to get change and finally I could leave at 9am.

The ruins of Chan Chan was located near Huanchaco (between Huanchaco and Trujillo). The combined ticket (admission for a musuem, and 2 other sites) cost 12 Soles.I was glad that I came here by motorcycle as it would be to far to walk from Huanchaco. 

The site was massive. All those dunes look-a-like stuff were the structures of the great city of Chan Chan. In fact, Chan Chan was the largest Pre-Colombian city in South America and the largest adobe city in the world. 

Inside the palace, there were some carvings left intact. Those of fish, pelicans etc. Pretty impressive. In the middle of the palace, there was a spring (pond), and it still had water. 

In the end there was the place for the king and beyond there, there was a tomb of the kings. The most important place of the palace. I wonder how magnificent Chan Chan was when Chimu Kingdom was at its best.

I learnt Chan Chan was the capital of Chimu Kingdom, which was once mightier than Inca Empire. But CHimu was conquered by Inca sometimes around 1470s. The battle was fearce and Inca forced Chimu peaople to migrate elsewhere. It was just 60 years before the fall of Inca Empire by Franciso Pizaro. Chimu was the culture of Adobe, but rich in seafood and crops. On the othe end, Inca was the culture of stone building, depending on corns and potatos. The battles of 2 totally different culture deciding the champion of Pre-Colombian South America is, to me, very interesting.

The museum was nearby, but it was hard to find (the sign was not obvious from Panamerican Hwy on the way to Trujillo). The collection was really poor. But I payed attention to one pottery - the picture on the pottery looked like the Egyptian god, Toth. Interesting.

Those other 2 sites, Huaca de Emeralda and Huaca del Iris, were interesting, but were hard to find. I had to ask locals to find them. here were hairless dogs at the sites. The bleed of the dog was special in Peru.    

It was 12 noon when I finished visiting all of 4 sites. I wasn't better and I wanted to visit a museum (Museo Cassinelli) , so I decided to go back to Huanchaco.

I had lunch in Huanchaco at a reastaurant called Menukand. I had Lomo Soltado (what I had yesterday in Lambayeque), and it was good again. I like this dish. Then I went to Naylamp. This time I could find it. The campsite cost 10 Soles, with hot shower and WiFi. A good deal.

After I pitched my tent, I caught a Collectivo to Trujillo to visit Museo Cassinelli. But it was closed... On the door, it said open from 3pm to 6pm, but even I waited after 3pm, none was there. I asked a staff of Repsol Petrol Station next door, if the museum would be open. She checked her watch and said "From 4pm". Hummmm, I doubted. So I gave up and went back to the campsite.

It was 4:30pm when I came back. But I did not see Mark & Claire. They supposed to come today. Where were they?

I went to have dinner at the restaurant Menuland. While I was talking to the girl of the restaurant, there was a school kids marching. It was an anniversaly of the school. Every year they have the marching.

Then Mark and Claire showed up at the restaurant! They were staying at the campsite I was yesterday! (They came to Naylamp, but did not see the garage, so they went to another site). As Mark's XT600 Tenere had broken fork seals, they had to stay here for a while to find the parts.

I am caughing pretty hard still. So I wonder if I should leave tomorrow.

Day 332: 2011年6月21日

Jaen to Huanchacho

いやー、今日の道のりは長かった。チクラヨに停まるつもりだったのですが、トルヒーヨ(Trujillo)近くのウアンチャコ（Huanchaco）まで来てしまいました。500キロ以上走りました。

ハエンからオルモスまでは山間を走ります。ワインディングが楽しい。タイヤを送ったので軽いし重心が低くなったので走りやすいんですよね。風景もきれいですし。

オルモス手前から左折してチクラヨ方面へ。ここからは景色が単調。ただ走るのみ。

今日のメインイベントであるシパン王墓博物館(Museo Tumbaｓ Reales de Sipan)はチクラヨから20キロほど北のラムバイェケ(Lambayeque)という街にあります。11時半頃に到着。

入館料は10ペソです。何故か野良犬に懐かれるワシ。展示物は「素晴らしい！」の一言。しかしカメラ持込禁止なので写真は一切無しです・・・。残念。1200年以上前に栄えたモチェ文化の王墓の遺物を展示してあるのですが、そのおびただしい副葬品の数々には目を見張ります。特に動物を模った土器が可愛い。

約1時間掛けて博物館を堪能。腹が減ったので昼飯。お勧めを食べたのですが中華の肉野菜炒めみたいで美味しかった。相変わらずお米が美味しい。

チクラヨに入ると、渋滞というか、滅茶苦茶。東南アジアほどの滅茶苦茶さはないでしょうが、ペルー人に運転させてはいけないのではないか？と思いたくなるほど。幅寄せ、無理な追い越しは当たり前。意味も無く（彼等には意味があるかもしれませんが）クラクション鳴らすし。







チクラヨからトルヒーヨまでの道は砂漠です。なかなかの風景です。これは来てよかった。しかし対向車線からの追い越しにはハラハラさせられます。バイクが対向車線にいてもお構いなく追い越しを掛けてきます。何回中指を立ててやったことか。,そうそう車の窓からよくゴミが投げ捨てられます。これもエクアドルやコロンビアではほぼ見かけなかったことです。今のところペルー人の運転マナーは大嫌いです。

トルヒーヨ手前で右折。サーファーの街ウアンチャコへ。この近くにはチャンチャン遺跡（Ruinas de Chan Chan)があるんです。昨晩クレアからキャンプが出来るホステルの情報をメールでもらったのでそこにしようかなと。トルヒーヨはデカイ街なので行きたくないので、ここが無難ですね。

GPSで座標をセットしてたお陰で迷わずにキャンプ場つきホステルに到着しました。Huanchaco Garden。4台のＲＶが停まってます。みんな良さそうな人たちです。しかしネットを開いて気が付いたのですが、クレアが送ってくれた宿は違うのです!!　「Hostel Camping Naylamp」というのですが、ワシのは違います。うーん、5ソル高いけど、まぁいいか。

明日はチャンチャン遺跡を見学し、それから何処に向かおうかなぁ。テントの中で考えます。


Day 332: 21 JUN 2011

Jaen to Huanchacho

It was a long ride day! From Jaen to Huanchacho, near Trujillo. I was plannijng to stay at Chiclayo today, but I pushed further. More than 500km, again.

From Jaen to Olmos, riding through the valley, next to a river, it was a very amusing ride. Going through those curves after curves was vert enjoyable, especially now I am not carrying the tyre!

Just before Olmos, I tooka left turn to Chiclayo. Then scenery became boring and I just rode and rode. 

The museum of Kings Tumbs of Sipan (Museo Tumbas Reales de Sipan) was located in Lambayeque around 20kms north of Chiclayo. The entrance fee was 10 Soles.While buying a ticket, a street dog seemed to like me a lot and was staying around me. He followed into the car park and guarding my GS! What a nice dog!

The collection of the museum was amazing. I liked those anual shaped potteries. They were so cute. Sipan culture was flourished 1100 years ago or so. Looking at those artifacts burried with the kings, we could see how mighty the power of the rulers was in those days. Unfortunately no camera was allowed inside, so no photo here...

I had lunch in Lambayeque. It cost me 9 Soles, but it was one of the best lunch I had recently. It was stire fried beef and veges with rice (and Inca Cola). Very nice.
 
In Chiclayo, the traffic was chaotic. I hate those Moto-taxis. Also Peruvian drivers manner is really bad. I have seen many people threw away trush from the cars... I did not see that in Colombia and Ecuador.

The road from Chiclayo to Trujillo (Panamerican) goes through a desert. The view was quite nice. I missed the route to Cajamarca, but I was glad to see this view. 

Last night, Claire sent me an information about a hostel with a campsite in Huanchaco. I entered GPS way point, so I could get there without getting lost. But somehow I came to another hostel (Huanchaco Garden) with a campsite! I realised that after I conneted to Internet again. The place I am staying is not bad. there are 4 RVs camping here and they are all nice people. The cost of the campsite 15 Soles, 5 Soles more than "Hostel Camping Naylamp" recommended by Claire. 

Tomorrow I will visit Chan Chan, and Las Huacas del Sol y de la Luna.

Day 331: 2011年6月20日

Chachapoyas - Kuelap - Jaen (Hotel Danubio)

---最近4日間の日記、エクアドルのまとめをアップしました。付け足した箇所もあるのでご覧ください---

ロンリープラネットによるとクエラップ遺跡(Kuelap)はプレ・インカ文明の遺跡でその大きさはマチュピチュに比肩するとか。これを見るためにピウラから500キロ以上走り最寄の街チャチャポヤスまで来ました。チャチャポヤスからクエラップまではダート道になります。

クエラップからカハマルカ(Cajamarca)まで行こうと思ってたのですが、ロンプラを見ていたらチクラヨ(Chiclayo)という街の近くにシパン（Sipan)文明の遺跡があり遺物はチクラヨの博物館にあるそうです。チクラヨはピウラの南、海岸沿いに位置してます。こりゃ、行かねば。っていうことで、カハマルカはやめてクエラップから来た道を引き返してチクラヨまで行くことに。

朝6時半に起床。ちょっと風邪気味。洟がグズグズです。朝飯を食べがてらガレージに行くと、バイクが隅っこに動かされてます!　車が全部入りきらなかったから動かしたそう。ハンドルロックとブレーキディスクロックをしてあったので力技で動かしたに違いありません。おいおい、やめてくれよ。ダメージは無いかな・・・。

幸いダメージは無さそうです。7時半に宿の前に動かし荷物を積んで8時前には出発給油を済ませて坂を下ってダート道に入ります。

ダートは均されているので問題ありません。快適に飛ばします。川沿いのキレイな風景の中を行きます。このまま進むとカハマルカまで行くのですが、クエラップへは途中右にそれます。


山を登っていきます。かなり登ります。地図で見るとクエラップは直ぐそこ、に見えるのですが、なんのなんの結構遠い。谷沿いの道をドンドン進みます。


途中トラックが道を封鎖してます。電柱を荷降ろししているのですが、あと10本もあります。ちょっとどいてくれればいいのにそのまま作業を続けます。しかも何も言わずに。こっちはどうなてるのか身振り手振りで訴えますが、奴等はそのまま作業。ようやく荷降ろしが終わったと思ったら、トラック動きません。こうなったらペルー人バリにクラクションを鳴らします。それでも動かぬトラック。しばらくしてやっと動かしてくれました。15分以上無駄に。

そこから更に更に登ってようやくクエラップ遺跡の入り口へ。2時間かかりました。チケットは15ソル。バイクを駐車してチケットを買って歩き出します。3,000メートルの高地なのですが暑い！

しばらく歩きようやく遺跡が見えてきました。城壁みたいですね。かなりの規模です。なかなか遺跡内部への入り口がありません。







ようやく入り口を見つけて中に入るとジャングルの中に遺跡がある感じです。見晴らしもいいですね。しかし、そんなに大した建造物はありません。まぁ、外部の城壁は立派なのですが。







円形の建物の中には穴が2つ。食糧貯蔵湖かトイレか？それにしてもマチュピチュと比肩するとは、ロンプラ言ったものだな。おっと、規模では比肩ということか。








テンプロ・マイヨール（主要寺院）に行くとアルパカが4匹。ヒツジもこれで満足。しかし、ワシは期待したた分ガッカリです。悪くないんですよ、遺跡。しかし相当な距離と時間を掛けて、期待が大きかった分、ガッカリです。

そして駐車場に戻りチクラヨを目指して再び北上し西へ。しかしチクラヨは遠すぎるのでバグア・グランデ辺りで一泊となりそうですね。ペドロ・ルイスで昼飯を食べて走りに走ります。

バグア・グランデには3時ごろに到着。まだまだ走れますが、昨日通って来た限りこの先宿がありそうな街がないんです。どうするかな。地図を見ると60キロくらい西に行きちょっと北にそれますが（22キロ）ハエン（Jaen）という大きな街があります。よし、そこまで行こう！ということに決めて、一路Jハエンへ。

ハエンはなかなかデカイ街。エクアドルからズンバ（Zumba)の国境を越えると最初の大きな街がハエンです。それにしてもモト・タクシーがウザイ。宿を何軒か見かけますがどれもガレージ無し。どうしようかと思ったら「Hotel Danubino」が目に。しかもガレージあります。かなり高級そうですが値段を聞いてみると「45ソル」。うーん16ドルかぁ。しかしWiFIあり。暑いし疲れているので今日はちょっと贅沢を。ブログもアップしたいしね。

早速シャワーを浴びてさっぱり。メールを開くとアダムとマーク＆クレアからメールが。クエラップでたまたま再会して今カハマルカにいるとのこと！しかもクエラップからカハマルカの道は景色が素晴らしかったとか!!　うーん、残念。みんなこれからトルヒーヨ(Trujillo)に向かうので再会できそうです。

夜飯を食べてブログのアップ。さてと明日は早めにチクラヨに行って博物館に行くぞ！



Day 331: 20 JUN 2011

Chachapoyas - Kuelap - Jaen (Hotel Danubio)

According Lonely Planet, the ruin of Kuelap is "Matched in grandueur only by the ruins of Machu Picchu, the fabulous ruins of this pre-Inca citadal, constructed between AD900 and 1100". I was very excited to visit he site. In fact I came al they way from Piura to Chachapoyas, more than 500km to just visit this site.

I was thinking to go to Cajamarca after visiting Kuelap, but I changed my mind as I was reading Lonely Planet, there is a "Sipan" site and a museum near Chiclayo. Chiclayo is located south of Pirau, so it would be closer to go back the same way than going to Cajamarca and Chiclayo.

Anway, I gotup around 6:30am and went to see my GS at the garage. What I found was my GS was moved to the side to make more space for other cars... It was handle locked and the disk brake lock was on, so those guys moved my GS roughly... I checked if there was any damage, no any noticeable damage found. Good.

After breakfast, I moved my GS to the ostel and loaded up, then took off to Kuelap before 8am.

Down the hill, there was a left turn to Kuelap, Cajamarca, then soon it became a dirt road. It was unpaved, but was hard packed, so it was easy to ride. The ride along side a river and seeing mountains everywhere, was very pleasant.

Then I took a right turn to Kuelap. If I kept straight, it would lead to Cajamarca. On the map, Kuelap was "just a step away" from Chachapoyas, but it was really far.  Climbing up hill al the way.

Looking down, the valley was very prety and the landscape was gaugeous. At a small village, a truck was blocking the way. Those workers were unloading concrete-made electric posts. There were still 10 of them to go, but they did nt move the ruck and let me wait there without saying anything. Not nice.

Finally they unloaded all of the posts, but the truck was still sitting there. Now I beeped the horn as Peruvians do, but none was doing anything. Finally a guy went into the truck and moved it. They were really not nice... I wasted 15 mins there.

Afer 2 hours of riding, finally I got to Kuelap site. The admission was 15 Soles.From the entrance, I got to walk qite a bit before seeing any ruin. The fortress like stone wall was very astonishing.

However there wan't much to see inside the site except the amazing view. Thos circlar building, inside has 2holes, looked like food strages of toilets. The stone wall looked very soficiticated, but the buildings inside were not really great.

At Templo Mayor, there were 4 Alpacas. Mr. Sheep was happy to see them. But I was rather disappointed with the site. I guess m expectation was too much.

Now, I had to made to Chiclayo. I road on the dirt road all the way back near Chachapoyas, then turn left to Pedoro Ruiz where I had ate lunch. Then I took another left turn to Bagua Grande. But I knew Cihclayo would be too far to make before the sunset. So I had to stop sround Bagua Grande. 

I arrived Bagua Grande at 3pm. I could go more, but there would not be any town with decent accomodation (I did not see any on the way to Chachapoyas except in Bagua Grande). I checked on the map and found Jaen. Though it was located 22km north of the main road,  could go another 60km farther. So I went there.

Jaen was a quite large city. In fact, ifcrossing the border from Zumba, this would be the first major city in Peru. Moto-taxis were annoying as usual. It was really hot and I was tired. I had seen so many hostels, but without garage. I was about to stop and ask people, then I saw "Hotel Danubio". It had a garage! But it looked expensive. Anyway, I asked the price "45 Sles". Well US$16... But with WiFi! As I wanted to updte my blog before it's too late to update regulary and I thought I deserved a treat somehow.

I received e-mails from Adam and Mark & Claire. They met in Kuelap and now they were in Cajamarca. They said the road to Cajamarca was great!! Should not miss it!! Well, it's too late mis amigos... 

Anyway, I enjoyed hot shower and fast Internet here. I could update backdated diaries on my blog and will have a good sleep here.

Tomorrow, I will get to Chiclayo early and try to visit the museum (Museo Tumbas Reals de Sipan). It should not disappoint me.

Day 330: 2011年6月19日

Piura to Chachapoyas (Hostel Continental)

今日は朝6時半に起きて出発の準備。7時過ぎには用意が出来ていたのですが、セキュリティー・パーキングが開いてません。仕方が無いのでしばらく待つことに。7時半に開いたので荷物を積んで出発です。タイヤが無いので軽い気がします。

ピウラの街を東に出ます。街を出てからガソリンスタンドがあるだろう、なんて思ってたらしばらく走っても無いので街外れまで引き返して給油。これが正解。それにしてもペルーのガソリンは高い。90オクタンが1ガロンで13－14ソルしますからね。

最初は曇っていたので涼しかったのですが、晴れ間に出ると流石に低地なので暑い暑い。オルモス（Olmos)という街まで一気に走ります。風景は単調。メキシコと同じように家とか壁に選挙の宣伝がペンキで書いてあります。特に最近大統領選があったので「KEIKO」が目に付きます。オルモスでまた給油。この先バグア・グランデ(Bagua Grande)まで街らしい街は無さそうです。

チクラヨ（Chiclayo)への分岐点を過ぎた辺りから山に入ります。ここから景色も良くなりました。谷間に沿って山間を抜けていきます。それにしてもペルー人は無茶な追い越しが多いです。対向車線にワシがいてもお構いなしに追越をかけてきます。しかもやたらとクラクションを鳴らします。エクアドル人と比べてペルー人はアグレッシブですね。

12時過ぎにとある小さな村で昼飯。牛肉を半乾燥させたのを焼いたのは美味かった。そうそう米が短くてもちもちしてるんです。これは日本人の口に合いますね。米といえばここから先は田んぼが広がってるんです。なんか東南アジアの風景を見ているようなきがします。

ChamayaにてJaenへの分岐点を過ぎたらアマゾナス州（Amazonas)に入ります。そうなんです、ここもアマゾンなんです。流石に暑いな！

バグア・グランデで給油したらスタンドのお兄さんが冷たいミネラルウォーターをくれました。ありがとう！　

ペドロ・ルイス(Pedoro Ruiz)にて右に曲がります。地図ではダートなのですがキレイに舗装されています。
ここから今日の目的地チャチャポヤス(Chachapoyas)まで53キロ。山をドンドン登っていきます。が、雨が降ってきました。結構降ってますが、濡れるほどではありません。しかし、明日クエラップ（Kuelap)に寄ってカハマルカ(Cajamarca)まで行く予定なのですが、ダートなんですね。雨でぬかるまないかな？

チャチャポヤスで宿探しに苦労。ガレージが無いんです。「ロビーに停めていいよ」というのですが、歩道が高くて上がれません…。無理して壊したくないですしね。

何軒か回ってHostal Continentalで宿にはガレージはないけれど7時半以降なら近くのセキュリティーパーキングに停められるとのこと。5時過ぎなのであと2時間半。それまで宿の前に停めて見張っていてくれることに。個室20ソル。まぁまぁですね。

夕飯はメルカドの外の露店で3.5ソル。インターネット・カフェは回線が遅くメールチェックのみ。7時半に近くのガレージへ。というかこのガレージ最初に見つけたホステルの横です。

さて明日はクエラップ遺跡めぐりです。あのマチュピチュと双璧をはるというプレ・インカ遺跡です。楽しみだなぁ。まだペルー2日目ですが、ペルーが好きなのか嫌いなのかわかりませんね。



Day 330: 19 JUN 2011

Piura to Chachapoyas (Hostel Continental)

I got up early to get ready but the security parking wasn't open till 7:30am, so I waited.

I thought there would be some petrol stations outside of the city, but once I got out of the city, there was nothing! I rode for a while,but did not see any petrol station, so I turned back to the city and gased up.

It was clouded and was cool. But when it got clear, it got hotter! Till the town of Olmos, I rode without stopping. There was no nice scenery.
At Olmos, refueled and continued riding to the east. As same in Mexico, on the walls of the houses, adverts of those politicans I could see. Especially there was the Presidential election recently, I saw lots of "KEIKO".

After passing the junction to Chiclayo, the terrerian changed to mountainous. Now it's 2nd day in Peru, but I had been seeing so many agressive overtakings. Even though I was on the oppoisite lane, those drivers overtaking slow vehiles.　Very dangerous. Also Peruvians love to beep horns. COmparing to Ecuadorians, so far I feel Peruvians are more addressive.

I stopped at a small village for linch just after noon. Bistec, I guess, BBQed half dried beef was really tasty. Rice was good too. The grain was shorter like Japanese grain and it did taste more like Japanese rice, so I liked it.

Talking about rice, I could see rice paddies on the road side. The scenery changed dramatically from the desert to waterfull ri e paddies.

I refueled at Bagua Grande. It was really really hot day. And the caballelo at the petrol station gave me a bottle of chilled water! Muchas gracias!

Turned right at Pedoro Ruiz to Chachapoyas. From the map, it supposed to be a dirt road, but it was nicely paved.　Then started to claimbed up hill. Now I could say good-bye to hot weather. But it started to rain... Luckily it was not heavy to get wet.　I was afraid that the rain would make the dirt road to Kuelap - Cajamarca muddy...

Arrived Chachapoyas around 5pm. But it was hard to find a hostel with garage. After several attempt, I found Hostel Continental with a garage around the corner.

The private room with share bathroom cost 20 Soles. I had to wait till 7:30pm to put my GS into the garage, so the lady owner of the hostel was watching my GS parked outside of the reception.

The connection at the Internet Cafe was terrible. I could just check e-mails.

Tomorrow I will visit the ruin of Kuelap. It is said one of the most magnificent archiological site matching with Machupichu. Very very exiting to see that.

Day 329: 2011年6月18日

インターネットカフェからのアップデートなので写真はありません。(後ほど写真をアップしました！青字は付け足しです。）

今日は国境を越える日。7時に起きて7時半過ぎには宿を出ました。
しかし国境近くのガソリンスタンドにガソリンが無く、4キロほど引き返して給油。余ったコインを使って朝飯。

出国は至って簡単。しかしアドゥアナでは係のオッサンが朝飯食うの待たなければなりませんでした。15分位待ったでしょうか。ようやく出てきて"なんだ出国か"、とペルミソを受け取って終了。サヨナラ、エクアドル。いろいろありがとう！

それからペルー側へ。入国はツーリストカードに記入してスタンプを押してもらって終了。アドゥアナへ。しかし係の人に"保険に加入しないとダメだよ"といわれて向いの保険屋へ。1ヶ月35ドル、2ヶ月5ドル、3ヶ月77ドル。2ヶ月分を購入。高いなぁ。

アドゥアナのオッサンは無愛想で効率も悪いですが9時半にはすべて終了。全部入力したかとおもうと、「パスポート、免許書、登録書のコピーは？」だって。「コピー屋はどこですか？」と訊くと、「コピーないのー」だって。わざととしか思えません。幸いコピーを持ってたので渡すと、渋い顔。ファイルする訳でもなく、眺めてるだけ。絶対コピーは嫌がらせだな。これでようやくペルーを走れます。

確かにペルーに入ると乾燥していて砂漠みたいな地形になります。標高も下がったので気温が上がります。無理な追い越しが目立ちます。道路の真ん中を走ってるのも目立ちます。しかも国境を越えて5分も経たないうちにブッシュから2ケツのバイクが出てきたんです。後ろの兄ちゃんはピストルみたいなのを持ってました。それをワシに向けて狙いを定めるようなフリをしました。ペルー、なんか雰囲気悪いぞ。

そうそう最近大統領選挙があったせいでしょうか、選挙の広告が家の壁にやたらとペンキで塗られてます。メキシコもそうでしたが砂漠的地形と関係あるのでしょうか？KEIKO大統領候補の宣伝をパチリと。

ピウラ(Piura)には12時過ぎに到着。ピウラはかなりでかい街。モトタクシーが多いのもありますが、運転が荒いです。

ロンプラに乗ってる安い宿の隣のホステルカリフォルニアに宿泊。15ソル。ガレージは無いので裏のセキュリティーパーキングで一晩15ソル。飯は宿の隣で5ソル。1ソル2.80ドルなので2ドルくらいですか。

宿に宿泊しているフアンカルロスにバスデポに連れていってもらいタイヤをテプサTepsa)にて送ります。11ソルのところを10ソルにまけてもらいました。7キロもありました。これで更に軽くなりました。

さてと明日はクエラップ(Kuleap)までいけるかな？

Updating from an Internet Cafe.

I cross the borer to Peru today. Exiting Ecuador was easy but I needed to wait at Aduana for a staff eating his breakfast.

At Peruvian side, it was all easy process. But I needed to buy Vehicle Insurance before receiving Permiso at Aduana. Insurance cost US$35 for a month, US$56 for 2 months, and US$77 for 3 months. I bought for 3 months

Once I entered Peru, the scenery changed as Raul, Juan and Cesar said. It was very dry, desert like terrerian. I found that Peruvians overtaking more wildly than Ecuadorians.

I arrived Piura around 12 noon. It was a big city. I did not expect that. The traffic was terrible, due to those moto-taxis and crazyy drivers (everywhere).

I found Hosteria California 15 Soles near a hostel shown on Lonely Planet. There was no garage, so I had to park my GS at a secuirty paring rear for 15 Soles a night.

Juan Carlos at the hostel took me to a bus depot where I sent my spare rear tyre to Lima. It cost 10 Soles. The tyre weighed 7kgs! I could rie much lighter now.

Tomorrow I will head to Kuelap but not sure if I could get there in one day.
