Feldkirch, Austria to Thalwil, Switzerland (Das Haus von Laura & Uwe)

今日も快晴。が、しかし風が強い。朝飯を食べてジェッツィに別れを告げて9時には出発。一路リヒテンシュタインに向かいます。

It was a fine weather again today. But it was windy. After having breakfast, I said good-bye to Jetzy and left the hostel by 9am. I headed to Leichtenstein.

リヒテンシュタインまでの国境は直ぐそこでした。3キロも無いくらい。国境で写真を。この旅24国目です。


The border to Leichtenstein was just 3km away from the hostel. I took a photo or the border. It was the 24th country to visit during this trip.

















そして国境を跨ごうとした所で国境警察官がいたので停車して挨拶。これがいけなかった。通り過ぎればよかったんですけど、下手に停まったものだから、パスポートと免許書の提示を求められました。国際免許書を渡したら、「地元の免許書を出して」と。オーストラリアの免許書を渡しました。

Then when I was about to cross the border, there were two border policemen, so I pulled over and greeted them. It was my mistake to pull over... They asked me to show the passport and the driver's license. I showed my International driver's license but they asked for the local one. So I showed my Australian driver's license/

















パスポートと免許書、そして国際免許書を持ってオフィスに入り、なかなか出てきません。ガラス越しに見えるのですが、虫眼鏡で免許書を拡大して念入りに見てます。もう1人はパスポートを一枚一枚めくり、いろんな国の出入国スタンプを見ています。

They took my passport and licenses and went to the office. One of them were checking out my Aussie license with microscope!! Another one was going through all the passport pages.

作業(?)を見ていたら、あっちへ行け、との合図。うーん、なんかイチャモン付けられるのかな？なんて考えながら待つこと10分。他の車やバイクはどんどん通り過ぎて行きます。

I could see their works from the glass, but they told me to go away... So I was wondering if they would give me a troule. Al other cars and motorcycles were passing through without anycheck.

ようやく出てきて、「パニアを開けて」と。素直に開けてたら、パスポートと免許書等を返してくれました。「スイスでは高速道路を使うか?」との質問。「いや、下の道を走るよ。」と回答。「スイスの高速道路を使うには1年パスを買わなきゃ、だからな。」と国境警察官。まぁ、問題なく通過できたのですが、なんか感じ悪かったですね。

Afer 10mins or so, they came out and asked me to open the panniers. I opened them as I was told, then they returned me the passport and licenses back. They asked e if I would be riding on Motorways in Switzerland. I said "No". They told me that I had to buy a annual pass to use any motorway in Switzerland. Then they let me go.

リヒテンシュタイン侯国は本当に小さな国。国境からあっという間に首都ヴァドゥース（Vaduz)に到着。お城が見えたので、パチリと。

Leichetenstein was really small country. From the boder, I came to the capital city Vaduz in no time. I saw a castle on the hill top.

















この国の主リヒテンシュタイン侯爵はもともとオーストリア皇帝ハプスブルク家の重臣でナポレオンによる神聖ローマ帝国解体後、そして第一次世界大戦後のオーストリア・ハンガリー帝国瓦解後も侯国として存続している特異な国。リヒテンシュタイン侯爵家が所有している海外にある土地はリヒテンシュタイン侯国そのものよりも大きく、侯爵家はリヒテンシュタインからの租税を一切受け取ってなく、経済的には全く独立しているとのこと。これは面白いですね。

The Princilpality of Leichtenstein (Fürstentum Liechtenstein) is constitutional monachy ruled by the Princely family of Leichtenstein. Current Price is Hans-Adam II. According to Wikipedia:
"The family comes from Castle Liechtenstein in Lower Austria, which the family possessed from at least 1140 to the 13th century, and from 1807 onwards. Through the centuries, the dynasty acquired vast swathes of land, predominantly in Moravia, Lower Austria, Silesia and Styria, though in all cases, these territories were held in fief under other more senior feudal lords, particularly under various lines of the Habsburg family, to whom several Liechtenstein princes served as close advisors. 首都ヴァドゥースから少し西に行くとライン川があり橋を越えたらもうスイス領内。ほんの15キロ程度でリヒテンシュタイン侯国のツールんぐは終了。スイスの谷を走り抜けます。

I took a right turn in the middle of Vaduz then there was Rhein river. Accross the bridge, I was already in Switzerland. I just rode 15km or so in Leichtenstein. I rode through the valleys of Swiss.

スイスというと標高が高いイメージがありますが、山間の谷を走っているので標高は500メートル以下。しかも南からの風で暖かい。

I thought Switzerland was all high up in the mountains, but as I was riding through valleys, the altitude was around 400-500m. And there were warm winds from South, it was really warm.

































ワレン湖（Walensee)の畔をはしり、更にチューリッヒ湖（Zurichsee)の畔を走ります。チューリッヒ湖畔は結構小さな街が連立してあって、ずっと街中を走っている感じでした。

I rode along side of Lake Walen, then along side of Lake Zurich. Around Lake Zurich, there were many little towns, so I was just riding through towns. This part of Switzerland was totally different from my image of Switzerland.

湖畔で休憩しようなんて思ってましたが、なんだか私有地ばかりで、なかなかいい場所がありません。そうこうしているうちにウベ宅には12時前に到着。ウベと彼女のローラはまだ旅先からは戻っていないので、とりあえずスーパーにでも行って時間をつぶそう、なんて思ったら日曜日なので休み。カフェもスイス・フランを持ってないので駄目（しかもめちゃくちゃ高い）。

I was thinking to have a rest at the lake side, but enter lakeside seemed to be private properties, so I could not find any good spot. So I got to Uwe's place before noon. Uwe and his girl friend Laura were not back yet from their holiday, so I went to a supermarket to spend time. But all supermarkets were closed as it was sunday. I went into a cafe, but it was really expensive and I did not have any Swiss-Franc, so I gave up.

仕方がないので来た道を少し戻り、マックで休憩。ドリンクのSを頼んだら、なんと3.5スイス・フラン（4米ドル）もするではないですか!!　セットメニューは12スイス・フラン。これは高い。1時半過ぎまでマックにいましたがお腹が空いてきたので、もう少し来た道を戻り、湖が見渡せる所に駐車場とベンチがあったので、そこでサンドイッチを作って昼飯。
本を読みながら時間をつぶします。

I rode back the same road and had a drink at a Mac's. I had a small Coke but it cost SF$3.5 (US$4)!! I checked the price of set menus and each cost SF$12 or so. Very very expensive. I stayed there until 1:30pm, and I got hungry, so I rode back the road again and found a parking area with a lake view. I made sandwitches and read some books.

















それにしても今日は花粉症の症状が酷い。クシャミは止まらず鼻水もダダ流れ。4時ごろまでそこにいましたが、天気が悪くなってきたので、再びウベ宅へ。


Todayhay fever was killing me. I could not stop sneezing and running nose. I stayed there ti;; 4pm, but it got really cloudy, so I went back to Uwe'S place.

幸いなことに、5-10分で2人が帰って来ました!!　数ヶ月ぶりの再会をウベと祝います。ローラとは初対面。早速珈琲とケーキをご馳走になり、色々話します。そして薬局に行って花粉症の薬を買いました。

Luckily Uwe and Laura came back 5-10mins after I got there!! It's been a few months since we saw last time in El Calafate, Argentina. He was looking good. I met Laura for the first time. We had coffee and cakes and talked a lot. Then Uwe took to me a chemist to get Hey fever tablets.

夜までバイクのこと、ヨーロッパのこと（ギリシア、スペイン問題）、シェンゲン条約国内の滞在期間についてなどなど色々話題はつきません。

We talked about motorcycles, current affairs of Europe, the limitation of staying in Shengen Area countries.

さて、明日は天気次第で何をするかを決めます。

Tomorrow, we will decide what we will do depending on the weather.
