Day 204: 2011年2月13日

今日は6時半に起床。7時半には準備が整いましたが、また待ちます。8時前に出発しました。

途中向かい風が強く走りにくかったですが飛ばします。ちょっと熱っぽいのですがパナマシティまで行けば休めますので構わず飛ばします。

結構警察がスピードガンを持ってネズミ捕りをしてました。何回かヒヤッとしましたが、停められることなく通過。
途中ガソリン休憩した以外は休まずに進みます。

パナマシティに入る手前のラス・アメリカス橋（Puente de Las Americas)からの眺めは良かったですネェ。駐車出来なかったので写真は無いですが。

いよいよパナマシティに突入。地球の歩き方をコピーした地図を頼りに今日の宿「La Jungla House」を探します。いい線行ってたのですが。左折をしたところで白バイに捕まりました。信号は黄色だったのですが。
国際免許を出して、「我が国では黄色はOKだよ」と言ったら「行っていい」と。助かりました。一応道を聞いたら「近くに警察署があるからそこで聞け」と。

結局警察署は見つからず、人に聞いて宿見つけました。というか白バイに停められたとこから50メートルの所にあるじゃないですか！

ネットで予約したのですが、予約は通っておらず、昨日の分は払わないですみました。これもラッキー。丁度昼飯時なので街を散策しますが、中華は高いし結局マック。パナマシティは高層ビルが乱立してます。パッと見は中米で一番栄えていますが、街を歩くとボロいです。

今パナマで流行の「テツハンセキ」です。

午後は調子が悪いので昼寝してネット。2日間ネットできなっかたのでブログも一気にアップ。水シャワーを浴びたら涼しくなりました。夕立少々。

夜はまたマック。マック2連続は人生で初めてかも。
明日はATMで現金をおろしてからパナマ運河を見学し、船に乗るプエルト・リンド（Puerto Lindo)まで80キロくらい走ります。途中からダートです。15日にバイクを船（ヨットですが）に搬入し、16日に乗船。19日にコロンビアのカルタヘナに上陸します。しばらくネットつながらないかもです。
あ。明日はバレンタイン・デーですね。全世界のヒツジ&三郎ファンの皆さんチョコ待ってますよ!!　チリンチリン!!!

Santiago to Panama City

We woke up at 6:30am and geared up. I was ready by 7:30am but I gotta wait for Akira...

It was windy for a while but we were cruising at 100km/h. There were Police targeting speeding on highway, but we were not caught, luckily.

The view from Puente de Las Americas was great! Now we were entering Panama City.
It wasn't hard to find the hostel we booked, La Jungla House.

At hostel, updating blog and checking mails.
Panama City has lots of tall buidling and looks nice from far distance. But if I walk on the street, it is shabby and not really clean city.

Tomorrow we will go to Puerto Lindo, where we catch the boat to Colombia. Before then we will visit Panama Canal.

Day 203: 2011年2月12日

Ciudad Nelly, Costa Rica to Santiago, Panama

犬を飼ってみました。名前はアヌビス。トップケースを改造し彼が呼吸できるようにしてみました。いいでしょ!?　彼も旅を楽しんでるようです。問題はヒツジと仲がよくないんですよね、アヌビス。早く仲直りしないかなぁ？（うそです。これはKwunがFacebookに載せた写真を拝借しました。）

今日は早目に国境を越えようと5時半に起床。やはりイビキがうるさくて多少睡眠不足。喉の調子もあまり良く無いですね。ワシは6時半過ぎには用意できてたのですが、例の如くウメザワさんを20〜30分待ちます。
 
7時チョイ過ぎに出発し7時半前には国境に到着。しばらく待ってから出国の手続きをしてペルミソをキャンセル。並んでいるオッちゃんたちにコピーが必要と言われ、撮りに。1ドルしました。でも、ペルミソをキャンセルするのにコピーは要りませんでした。 ふと見るとアドゥアナの窓にエルトンから貰ったステッカーと同じのが貼ってありました！CHUVAです。

コスタリカで使った金額は、12ドル(保険)、60ドル(サバナ3泊分と美味しい夕飯3回分)、その他44,000コロン使ったので、164ドルです。

8時には出国手続き完了し、パナマ側へ。イミグレには丁度ティカバスが入ったせいか、長蛇の列…。ここからが長かった…。待てど暮らせど全然進まず。一体パナマのイミグレは何をやっているんだ？オバちゃんが来てパスポートにステッカー貼って1ドル徴収されました。何故？でもみんな払ってます。

待っていると、日本人らしきチャリダーが現れました！最後尾から並ぶのは可哀相なのでワシらと並ぶように招きました。彼はイドさん。ツルさんの知り合いで、サバナ喜田側でも荻野さんが話していた人です。しかもしばらく山下君と走っていたとか！これは奇遇ですな。色々話が出来て良かったです。

1時間半待ってようやく順番が来ました。写真を撮られる以外はこれといって特別な作業は無いですし、順番が来てから直ぐに入国手続きは終了。一体あの待ち時間は何だったのでしょう？

これから保険に加入してペルミソを取得しなければなりません。交通整理をしてるオッちゃんに保険屋はどこか聞くと、少年が案内すると。うわー、あとでチップ要求されるな、これ。場所が知りたいだけなのに。 最初に行った保険屋は登録証書の英語表記が読めないと(単純に英語が読めないみたいです)、断られました。仕方がないのでもう一軒の保険屋で手続きしました。保険代は15ドル。ここで先程のコピーが役に立ちました。記載事項に間違いが無いか確認します。

そしてイミグレの上にあるオフィスで保険証書の写しにハンコをもらいアドゥアナへ。誰も並んで無い！ラッキー‼っと思ったら間違い。システムダウンでペルミソ発行出来ません…。時間は11時。あ、パナマは1時間進んでいるから12時なんだ。 係員は何回かトライしますがダメで、諦めたのかみんなで昼メシを食い始めました…。ヘルプデスクとかに電話しろよ…。PCリブートもしてないし。

待っているとカナダ人の若いカップルが車でやって来ました。彼らもペルミソ発行まで足止めです。しばらく歓談。パナマからコロンビアまでの船の話とか。

2時くらいになっていい加減待ってる人も増えて来て、係員たちも焦ったのでしょうか、ようやく手書きでペルミソを発行することに。そんなら早く手書きで発行してくれよ…。もう2時間も待ってるよ。 ペルミソが発行されたら今度はバイクの確認と消毒(5ドル)して終了‼ 少年には色々働いてくれたので2ドルのチップを渡しました。

もう2時なので昼メシ。米と臓物と煮込み炭酸飲料を付けて2.30ドル。コスタリカより断然に安いです。 ようやく走り出します。今日は調子が悪いから先導してくれるように頼んでいたのですが、彼が先導してくれたのは宿から国境まで20キロ足らず。地図を持ってないのと言葉が出来ないので、ワシ頼りなのはわかりますが、もう少し率先して欲しいものです。ワシはガイドでは無いので…。

時間は2時過ぎ。パナマシティまで日暮れ前に到着出来るのか？国境から300キロは無いと思っていたら、実は450キロ以上あることが判明…。愕然…。 まあ、道は良いので飛ばして行ける所まで行きましょう！片側2車線なので追い越しも楽チン。が、しばらく走ると1車線に。

ダビ(David)で給油をしたのが、3時半。後2時間くらいしか走れません。5時過ぎにサンティアゴ(Santiago)に入ったので宿を探します。 Hotel Cion Giと言う中華系のモーテルがツインで18ドルだったのでここにしました。エアコン着きは25ドルですが。しかし今日パナマシティに着く予定だったのでホステル予約してたんですよね。13ドルのキャンセル料取られます…。

夜はモーテルの向かいの食堂でハム煮込みご飯が2.65ドル。コスタリカを除いて中米は大体物価どこも同じですね。 明日はパナマ運河を見物した後にパナマシティに入ります。


Day 203: 12 Feb 2011

Ciudad Nelly, Costa Rica to Santiago, Panama

Well, I bought a dog (the name is Anubis), so I modified the top box to accomodate him. He seems enjoying the trip so far. But there is a problem, he does not get along with Mr. Sheep very well...
Hopefully they can be friend soon... (That's a joke. The photo was taken by my friend Kwun and he uploaded it to Facebook)

We got up at 5:30am in order to cross the border early. But as Akira was snoozing rondly, I could not sleep that well... The condition of my throat wsan't good as well.

I was ready by 6:30am, but as usual, I gotta wait for Akira. We left the hotel at 7am and headed to the border. As I was not well, I asked him to lead today.
We arrived at the border around 7:30am. Deporting process was easy and now we gota cancel our Permisos. Those guys told us we needed to have photocopies, so we went to take those. It cost US$1. But we did not need any copy for cancelling Permiso.... I looked at the window of Aduana, and found the same sticker as I got from Elton! CHUVA!!

I spent total of around US$164 in Costa Rica.
 
Around 8am, we got out from Costa Rica and went into Panama side. As Tica Bus had just arrived before us, there was a long queue for immigration... We gotta wait for a long, long time... Usually we got through immigration fast and stucked at Custom...

A lady officer(?) came and corrected US$1. He gave us a sticker on Passport, but I wasn't sure what the sticker for?? Was she trying to make the process faster?? But evertone was paying US$1 anyway.

While waiting, a Japanese cyclist came. His name is Ido. I had not met him, but I knew him. He is the friend of Tsuru and Mr. Ogio @ Sabana Kitagawa talked about him. I askked him to line up with us, so that he did not need to wait for long. He told me that he was riding for a with Aki.

After 1 hour and half, finally I got my turn. Other than taking a photo, the immigration process was not any different from other borders. And I was processed fairly fast. I wonder why we gotta wait so long??

Now we had to buy Insurance for our bikes and go through Custom. I asked where I could buy Insurance, and an officer told me to follow a kid. Oh no, the kid would ask for tip later. I just wanted to know where I could buy Insurance. I could do it by myself...

The insurance cost US$15. Here I could use the copies I tok beforehand (at Costa Rica side).  I checked if every detail on the insurance was correct. 
Then we went to an office upstair of Immigration to get a stamp on the insurance paper. 

When I got to Aduana (Custom), there was none waiting! How lucky!! But I was wrong. The system was down and they could not issue Permiso....

Well we waited for 2 hours before finally the officers started to process Permiso manually. As Oanama time is one hour forward, it was 2pm when we finally could left the border. We waited 5 hours. The longest border crossing so far it became. 
Oh, before we left the border, we got through fumigation on our motorcycles (which I hate a lot! Might damage plastic and rubber parts!!). It cost US$5. I paid US$2 for the kid as he was working hard anyway.

We had lunch at the border town and finally we could kick off!
Not sure why but Akira made me lead again. In fact since we started our trip together from Antigua Guatemala, he has been relying on me. He has no map (which is fatal as a motorcycle traveller) and he speaks little little Spanish and English. As I am not a tour guide of him, I am not really happy. Several times I pushed him to try by himself but he just gave me execuses... He is 9 years senior to me, so I cannot tell him off.... I am so stressed out taking care of him now.

I thought Panama City would be less than 300km away from the border but it was around 450km away! It was 2pm alrady... Could we make to Panama City?

The road was pretty good for a while. 2 lanes on each direcion. But soon it became single lane each direction and the pavement cpndtion became worse. 

We refuelled in David around 3:30pm, then we arrived Santiago just after 5pm. I foun Hotel Cion Gi (Chinese owned hotel), and it cost US$18 for a twin room, so we decided to stay here tonight.

Tomorrow we will get to Panama City.
