Istanbul - Turkey (Tree of Life)

朝飯はつボイ先生と。昨晩つボイ先生がスーパーで食材を買ってきてくれたのですが、食パンが何故か酸っぱい!? 全体が酸っぱいわけでなく、一部が酸っぱいんです。なんなんだ?　まぁ、これくらいで腹を壊すようじゃ旅人は失格なので黙って食いましたけどね。

I had breakfast with Prof. Tsu-BOI. He bought some breads and peanuts butter last evening, but the breads were some how sour...!!? Only some parts of sliced breads were sour, we did not know why... Well, we are travellers, so we should not be afraid of this kind of things. So we kept eating the sour breads.

で、昼前にグランド・バザールとテオドシウスの城壁を見に行こうという計画だったのですが、Tree of Lifeに情報収集に来たギャルたちと歓談しているうちに、気付けば2時前。おっと、これはヤバイ、ということで早速街へ。

We planned to visit Grand Bazaar and the Wall of Theodocius, but just before we were going out, there were 3 girls visiting our hostel and we ended up chatting with them for a while. It was just before 2pm whenwe finally went out.


先ずは腹ごしらえと、ちょっと庶民的な店（ロカンタ）を見つけて、昼飯。ケバブ以外にもトルコ料理は美味しい。唐辛子の酢漬けを一気に4つ食べて悶絶するつボイ先生。

We were hungry, so we went to look for some cheap eat. We found a local eatery and it was cheap and good. There are more than Kebabs in Turkey! The photo below: Mr. Tsu-BOI had pickled chilis - 4 of them at once - and suffering...


街中で、タバコが当たるゲームを0.50リラで楽しむつボイ先生。先生は喫煙しないんですけどねぇ。

He found a machine - one play for 50 TRY cents to win a packet of cigarettes, and played two games. Well, he is not a smoker.


その後グランド・バザールに。さて、中東のバザールとは如何に!?

Then we went to Grand Bazaar! How was it like!?


うーん、中東のアクセサリーとか陶磁器とかランプとか、カーペットとか骨董品とか。見て周るのには楽しい。

There were many middle eastern designed accessories, ceramics, lamps, carpets etc everywhere. It was fun to walk through the market.


が、しかし、我々旅人が買える物は、意外に少ない。

But there weren't much things that we could buy (we cannot carry much things with us...)


店によっては写真撮影は禁止なんですけど、骨董品屋でパテック・フィリップの腕時計を発見。

Some shops prohibitted people taking photo of their show cases. So I could not take a photo, but I found what I want to buy at an antique shop. It is a Patek Phillipe wrist watch.

うーん、買いたいねぇ。

I was tempted to ask the price but I didn't. If I knew the price, I woud really want to buy it.

他の骨董屋を見て周りながら、つボイ先生と「掘り出し物を買う人は、あれはその価値を知らない売り手をだましてることにならないのか?」という話をしていたら、後ろから声を掛けられました。

We were looking around other antique shops and talking. We were discussing "If a person is looking for a bargain in this kind of places, s/he might be cheating as s/he knows the value of the good is higher than the price sold and s/he is benefiting out of ignorance of the seller." Then someone called me from behind.

なんと、それはアルゼンチンのブエノスアイレスで出会ったサトコちゃん!!

It was Satoko! I met her @ Ueno Sansou Buenos AIres, Argentina!


トルコにいることは知っていたのですが、ここで再会出来るとは、奇遇ですなぁ。

I knew she was in Turkey, but I did not expect see her here! Wow!

彼女は小物を鬼のように買出し中とのことで、明日再会しようということで、そのまま買い物に戻りました！

She was in the middle of shopping - seriously shopping - so we made an appointment for tomorrow and she returned to shopping.

それからテオドシウスの城壁へ向かおうとしたのですが、つボイ先生もワシも眠くなってしまって、宿に戻って昼寝。

Prof. Tsu-BOI and I were intended to go to the wall, but we both b\got really sleepy. So we went back to the hostel.

そして夕飯はもちろんシェア飯!!　

Then as usual, we had "share dinner"!!


今日はパスタで冷やし中華（パスタを茹でるときに重曹を塩の代わりに入れると美味くいくそうです）、バンバンジー、そしてモヤシ野菜炒めの豪華ディナーがなんと3リラ（150円以下）で。キョウさん、今日もご馳走様でした!!!

Kyo is the excellent chef! With just 3 TRY, he made pasta, steamed chicken breast with special sauce and stir fried vegies!! Muchas gracias, Kyo!!!

Day 800: 2012年10月5日

Istanbul - Turkey (Tree of Life)

気が付けば、日本を出発してから800日。まだまだ旅は続きますよ!

It's the 800th day since I left Japan. The trip still goes on!!

さて、隣のオヤジが巨漢で、こっちの席まではみ出してきて、かなり不快な夜をおくった三郎です。なので、睡眠不足!!

The guy next to me was really huge and he invaded my territory... So I could not have a good night sleep...

バスのアテンダント（運転手のほかに車内サービスをする兄ちゃんが2人いるんです）はワシと話したがってましたが、如何せんむこうは英語ほぼしゃべれないし、ワシはトルコ語できないので、会話は不成立。残念！

One of the bus attendants (there were 2 attendants providing onboard services to the passengers) wanted to talk with me, but I cannot speak Turkish at all and he could not speak much English, so our conversation did not go anywhere!?  What a pitty!

バスは7時頃にイスタンブールの中央バスターミナルに到着。そろそろ朝日が昇るころ。

The bus arrived the central terminal at 7am. The sun was about to rise from the horizon.

地下鉄に乗り、アクサライ駅で降りて、あとは宿まで徒歩で。途中モスクが朝日に映えて美しい。写真ではその美しさが写しきれていませんが・・・。

I took a subway to Aksaray then walked to the hostel @Tree ofLife@ where I stayed before. The sun rised behind a mosque, it was beautiful.


8時前にTree of Lifeに到着。まだ、みんな寝静まっていますが、ラウンジでネットをしながら管理人さんが起きてくるのを待ちます。

I got to the hostel before 8am. Everyone was still asleep, so I was updating my blog at the lounge and waited for the hostel manager to get up.

しばらくしたら、ドア・ベルが鳴ったので、ドアを開けると、登場したのは、ナント!!!

After while, I heard a door bell and opened the door, then he was here!!!

つボイ先生!!!

いやぁ、ブダペストで別れて以来ですねぇ。懐かしいですねぇ。

It's been since Budapest.

早速2人でくだらないことを歓談。そうこうしているうちに、他の宿泊者も起きてきて、ラウンジは賑やかに。

While chatting, more and more guests came up to the lounge.

その中でエリカ様と仲良くなりました。彼女は今日の午後にカッパドキアに出発してしまうんですが、それまで一緒に時間を過ごすことに。

Among them, we made a friend with Erika - leaving to Cappadocia this afternoon - and we spent time together until the time leaving to the bus terminal.

早速ブルーモスクにGO!!! ブルーモスク前の広場のオベリスク。

We went to Blu Mosque. The Obelisk of Theodosius Caesar at the plaza of Blue Mosque.


残念なことに丁度お祈りの時間の前でブルーモスクの中には入れませんでした。敬虔な信者さんでしょうか、厳かにお祈りを捧げてる!?

Unfortunately, we could not enter the mosque as it was just before prayer time. Inside the mosque, there was a man praying towards Mecca.


ブルーモスク（本名スルタンアフメト・モスク / Sultanahmet Camii）は、ウィキペディアによると「オスマン帝国の第14代スルタン・アフメト1世によって1609年から1616年の7年の歳月をかけて建造された。設計はメフメト・アー。世界で最も美しいモスクと評される。」だ、そうです。どうです、美しいですか!?

Blue Mosque (Sultanahmet Camii) was constructed by Sultan Ahmet I between 1609 and 1616. It is said "the most beautiful mosque in the world".

アヤソフィアは対になってるんです。まぁ、ブルーモスクのほうは大分後で造られたんですけどね。

この後マルマラ海を見に行ったり、

We walked to the sea (Marmara sea),


道に迷ったり。

and we got lost on the way...

かなり歩きました。

We walked a lot unexpectedly, but it was fun!

疲れたときは甘いのが一番! トルコの甘味を買って宿で味わうつボイ先生とエリカ様。

Having sweets is the best way to kill fatigue! Erika bought some Turkish delights and we had them at the hostel.


エリカ様は6時に出発。短い時間だったけど、楽しかったよ!　よい旅を!!

Erika left there at 6pm. It was short time we spent time together but I had great time! Buen viaje!!!

で、夜はTree of Life恒例のシェア飯。今日はきのこと魚のフォイル焼き、ジャガイモと鳥の煮物、とろろ昆布ときのこのお吸い物、それにサラダと豪華!!!　いつも作ってくれるキョウさんには感謝です!!!

As usual, at Tree of Life we had "Share Dinner". The menu of the day was grilled fish and mushroom, stewed chicken and potato, seaweed and mushroom soup and salad!! Wonderful! 


さて、昨晩もあんまり寝ていないので、早めに寝ます。

I did not have much sleep last night so I went to bed early. Good night.

Day 799: 2012年10月4日

Pamukkale to Istanbul - Turkey (on the bus to Istanbul)

今日は出発の日ですがワシは午後7時、Pちゃんたちは午後8時のバスなので、それまでのんびり。なんもすることがありません。

We had nothing to di until early evening as our buses were to leave at 7pm and 8pm. P-chan, Ochi, Koichi and I spent our time in Lamko Shokudo.

なので「ラム子の食堂」でのんびりと。

We started to have lunch around 12:30pm.


生姜をするのをお手伝いしたり。

We helped Lamuko to grind ginger.


ラム子さんの愛犬「ケント」。

12時過ぎからお昼ご飯食べて、ただいま4時過ぎ。マッタリとしてるグウタラな旅人たち。そうそう、ここでTree of Lifeで一緒だった山形県民のカナちゃんと偶然に再会。彼女も交えてマッタリと。

It's 4pm. We were just talking and relaxing at the restaurant. Then Kana who we met at Tree of Life, Istanbu came into the restaurant.


7時前くらいから雲行きが怪しくなって来ました。雨がチラホラ降り出すなか、みんなやラム子さんに別れを告げてバス停へ。Pちゃんたちとはイスタンブールで再会ですね。それまでBuen viaje!!

It got cloudy around 7pm. It started to rain before I left. I said good-bye to them all and went to a us stop. I will catch up with P-chan and others in Istanbul in a few days time.

バスは最初がらがらで快適でしたが、次第に混んできました。休憩所にいたニャアが可愛い。トルコはネコが多いですねぇ。

The bus was quite empty at first but got crowded and became full later. In Turkey, there are cats everywhere. But this cat was specially cute!


真夜中のハイウェイを一路イスタンブールにひた走るのでした。

The bus was going straight to Istanbul on the midnight highway.

Day 798: 2012年10月3日

Pamukkale - Turkey (Artemis Hostel)

今朝起きたのは9時!!　これは寝過ごしてしまいましたね。まぁ、昨晩コウイチがワシらの部屋に非難してきたり、まぁ、いろいろあったんですけどね。楽しい夜でした。

I got up at 9am! I slept in... Well, many things happened last night...

でも、あまり朝ゆっくりしていると、アヤ・シゲ夫妻は石灰棚を見に行く時間が無い!!　朝食を食べ終わった時点で、10時。うーん、今回は石灰棚は諦めるそうです。

We had no much time to waste in the morning as Aya and Shige were to leave at 1pm. We gotta be hurry to go to Lime terrance. But when we had breakfast it was already 10am. So the couple gave up going to the terrance.

夫妻は1時のバスで出発予定。なので、みんなで「ラム子の食堂」で昼ごはん!

So we all went to have lunch at "Lumko Shokudo".


今日も「程よく甘いアイラン」を。アイランを美味しそうに飲むコウイチ。

Ayran Lamuko Special. Normally Ayran is served salty but Lumko made it sweet (not too sweet, just right) for us. It was excellent.


そして鶏の生姜焼き丼。これがラム子食堂の一番人気。生姜が効いていて美味い。

I had girlled chiken in ginger sauce. This is the most popular one in Lamuko Shokudo.


アヤ・シゲ夫妻を見送って、残りのワシらは重い腰を上げて石灰棚へ。

We sent off Aya and Shige and went to the terrance.

石灰棚の上には「古代プール」があるそうで、コウイチはカナヅチなので浮き輪を、ワシは水着を購入。購入している間に、Pちゃん、オチ君、チャチャと逸れてしまいました。

There is an "Ancient Pool" on the top of the terrace, so Koichi bought a floating tube and I bout a swimmers. P-chan, Ochi and Chacha left us while buying those...


意外だったのが、水がそこら中に流れていること。これは面白い。「アヤ・シゲ夫妻はここを見ないで行ってしまったのは失敗だったんじゃないかなぁ。」なんて言いながら、コウイチと歩いていきます。

I was surprised to see water running everywhere. It was better than I thought. Koichi and I thought "Aya and Shige should have visited here!?".


みんな思い思いの写真を撮って楽しんでますね。

There were tonnes of tourists there. Taking photos in a paradise!?


一番上まで来ると、こんな風景。ヒツジも「うーん、ポスターの写真はやっぱり盛りすぎだよね。」と。

On the top of the hill, it looked like below. Mr. Sheep said "Well, the photos on posters and adverts are modified toooo much."



天使もそう言っておりマス。

The angel thought so too.


ここには古代ローマ時代の遺跡があるんです。

Here is the ancient Roman ruins.


ローマ人は温泉好き。ここも温泉なので、入浴施設と神殿を築いたのですね。

Ancient Romans loved thermal bath.


かなり、イイ感じの遺跡。遺跡って感じの遺跡です。

The ruins were pretty good. The real ruins!


そして古代プールへ。神殿が温泉プールの中に沈んでるとか!!?

Then we went to the Ancient Pool. The remainings of the building of the ancient thermal bath were submerged in the pool. 


さて、行きますよ！

ここで3人衆と再会!　チャチャはゴーグルを持参。炭酸水なので水中で目を開けると沁みる沁みる!!

We reunited with others here! Chacha brought a pair of goggles. Good idea mi amigo! As the water was carbonated, it was hard to open eyes in the water.


皆でプールではしゃぎます。

We played like children in the pool.


炭酸水は何故か身体が浮きにくい。浮き輪が助かります。ほぇーーー。

I wasn't sure why but it was really hard to float in the caronated water. It was a really good idea to take the floating tube!


沈んでいる古代遺跡はこんな感じ。うーん、本当にもともとそこにあったのか!?

THe submerged ruins looked like that. Were they there from the ancient time??


石灰棚に入るのに20リラ、そして古代プールに入るのに30リラするんですよね。まぁ、ここはリゾートでした。楽しかったけど、貧乏旅行者が行くところじゃあ、ねえ。

It costs 20TRY to enter the terrance and another 30TRY to enter the pool. Here was a touristic resort. We had lots of fun but here wasn't the place for backpackers, that's what we thought.

5時頃になり、撤退。

We left there at 5pm.

今度は降ります。太陽の加減で先ほどとは違った印象。悪くない。

As we descent down to the town, the view was diffrent from on the way up. Itwasn't that bad. 


昼時よりも推量が増えたのかな?

There were more water flowing down the hils.


で、ワシらがアヤ・シゲ夫妻に送る言葉。

Then our verdict of Pamukkale's lime terrance is...


パッムカレの石灰棚は見なくても問題なし!!!

We could miss this place!!

しばらく宿で休憩し（ワシは爆睡）、夕飯は「ラム子食堂」にて。

We went back to the hostel (I had a nap) then went to have dinner at Lamuko Shokudo.


チャチャは8時半のバスに乗ってカッパドキアに向かいました。

Chacha left here and caught 8:30pm bus to Cappadocia.

残ったワシらは、今日は静かに休みましたよ。

Today we had a quite night.

さて、明日は夜行バスでワシはイスタンブールに戻り、Pちゃん、オチ君、コウイチはカッパドキアに向かいます。まぁ、タイミングがあえばイスタンブールで再会ですね。

I will catch a bus to Istanbul tomorrow and other 3 will go to Cappadocia.

まぁ、「石灰棚」を見れたわけなんですけど、うーん、正直言って、ここはガッカリスポットですね。まぁ、仲間とワイワイ楽しかった!!

Day 797: 2012年10月2日

Pamukkale - Turkey (Artemis Hostel)

さて、今日は石灰棚に行きますよ!!　って、その前にPちゃん、オチ君、コウイチと合流。彼らは夜行バスで今朝ここに到着。

どうせなら、一緒に石灰棚に行こう、ということで、そして日中は暑いので夕暮れ時のピンクを見たい、ということで、午前中は洗濯したり。

それにしても、ワシの短パンが見当たらない。あれがないと、水着になるものが無くて、プールに入れないし・・・（まぁ、ボクサーパンツで入ってもいいのですが、周囲の手前・・・）。

昼間はラム子食堂にて。今日は「すき焼き丼」。これが美味い!!　ラム子さんはワシらを気に入ってくれたみたいで、ミネラル・ウォーターをサービスしてくれたり。



で、アイランは普段は塩味が効いてるんですが、アヤ子ちゃんのお願いで、程よく甘いアイランを特別に作っていただきました。ラム子食堂のミルク、ヨーグルト、バターは地元の農家から直接仕入れている優れもの。それで作った程よく甘いアイラン、最高です!!　これはメニューに載せるべきでしょ！



今日も暑くなりましたねぇ。これは昼間はダラダラするに限ります。プールに入りたいけど、短パンが見つからず（レセプションに聞いても、落し物に来ていないと・・・）。

で、夕方5時過ぎにPちゃんたちと石灰棚に向かいます。が、しかしまた黒雲が・・・。ありゃりゃ。



皆で相談。「どうする? 20リラ払って入る?」　「いや、明日でいいんじゃね?」。



結局明日の朝に行く事に落ち着きました（アヤ・シゲ夫妻は明日の午後マルマリスに向かうので）。



しばらくすると、雷雨が!!!　しかも飯を食べている途中に停電!!　

そのあとPちゃんやチャチャ王国民カズキ君はじめみんなと酒盛り。楽しい夕べでしたね。

まぁ、Pちゃん、オチ君たちは12時過ぎに向かいのパブに行って泥酔状態で戻ってきて、全裸でプールにダイブをかまそうとしてましたが・・・。
