さて、今日は朝からあの有名なアヤソフィアに行ってきました。しかもあのアヤ・シゲ夫妻との再会です。

Ayasofia - the epitome of Byzantine architecture - I have been dreaming of visiting it one day sice I was 14 or 15 years old.

8時50分に待ち合わせなので、朝飯も食べずに、アヤソフィアに向かいます。プラザをはさんで向こう側には「ブルーモスク」がその優美な姿を見せています。

I had an appointment with Aya / Shige couple who I met in Budapest at 8:50am. At the plaza, there I could see beautiful "Blue Mosque".


9時に開場なのですが（アヤソフィアはモスクだったのですが、現在は博物館となっているのです）、すでに行列が出来ています。

Ayasofia will be open from 9am (it is now a museum rather than a mosque), there was a queue in front of the entrance.


が、しかしアヤ・シゲの姿は見えず・・・。

But, I could not find my friends...

まぁ、とりあず並んでおきますか。

Well, I joined the queue and waited for them.

9時になっても夫妻の姿は見えず、行列は入り口に向かって動いていきます。入り口手前まで来て、もう1回一番後ろに並びなおそうとしたら、アヤちゃんがやって来ました。

At 9am, the queue started to move forward. But they hadn't shown up yet... I came to the entrance and left the queue. Then I lined up again to wait my friends. Then I saw Aya.

「あれ、シゲ君と友人は?」と訊くと、「あ、シゲ君は寝てる。友達は後から来るって」。なるほど。

I asked her "Where is Shige?" and she replied "He is sleeping and another friend of mine will join us later."

なので、並んで友人を待ちます。友人はアヤちゃんの中学校時代からの友人ケイコちゃん。1週間くらいの短期間でトルコ旅行。

So, we lined up and waited for her friend "Keiko". They've been friends since junior highschool. She came to Turkey to join Aya / Shige a week ago and leaving to Japan today.

さて、3人でアヤソフィア内部に。

Finally, we went into Ayasofia.


ウィキペディア曰く「アヤソフィア（トルコ語：Ayasofya、古典ギリシア語：Ἁγία Σοφία (Hagia Sophiā)、現代ギリシア語：Αγία Σοφία (Aagia Sophia)）は、トルコのイスタンブルにある博物館。東ローマ帝国（ビザンツ帝国・ビザンティン帝国）時代に正統派キリスト教の大聖堂として建設されたもので、帝国第一の格式を誇る教会、コンスタンティノポリス総主教座の所在地であった。東西教会の分裂（1054年の「相互破門」の舞台はまさに当大聖堂だった）以後は、正教会の総本山となる。

According to Wikipedia "Hagia Sophia (/hɑːɨə soʊfiːə/; from the Greek: Ἁγία Σοφία, "Holy Wisdom"; Latin: Sancta Sophia or Sancta Sapientia; Turkish: Ayasofya) is a former Orthodox patriarchal basilica, later a mosque, and now a museum in Istanbul, Turkey. From the date of its dedication in 360 until 1453, it served as the Greek Patriarchal cathedral of Constantinople, except between 1204 and 1261, when it was converted to a Roman Catholic cathedral under the Latin Empire. The building was a mosque from 29 May 1453 until 1931, when it was secularized. It was opened as a museum on 1 February 1935.
 

東ローマ帝国の代表的な遺構であり、しばしばビザンティン建築の最高傑作と評価される。その歴史と威容から、オスマン帝国の時代においても第一級の格式を誇るモスクとして利用された。」だ、そうです。

Famous in particular for its massive dome, it is considered the epitome of Byzantine architecture. and is said to have "changed the history of architecture."[6] At the time of its construction it was the largest building in the world."


中学生のときに東ローマ帝国（ビザンチン帝国）のことを学んだのですが、そのなかでもアヤソフィアの存在はワシの心を躍らせたものです。

I learnt about Byzantine Empire and I was facinated by Ayasofia. So finally my long term dream to visit Ayasofia came true!

実際、キリスト教会とイスラム寺院（モスク）の融合なので、かなり特徴ある面白い建物です。

As described, it is very interesting building of cmbination of Christian Churcha nd Islamic Mosque.


キリスト教会時代のモザイクもそのまま保存されています。これは、面白いですねぇ。

What intereded me was there were many Christian mosaics still maintained.


まぁ、イエスはイスラム教でも重要な「預言者」ですからね。

Jesus is one of the most important "prophet" in Islam.

それにしても「聖母と子」の絵が残されているのは意外でした。

But I was surprised to see "Virgin and the son" still kept intact.


にゃあーもいました。右に写ってる女の子は一体!?

There was a cat. S/he was so popluar among tourists. But a girl on the right, what was she doing??


そして宿に戻りシゲ君と合流し、昼飯じゃケバブ。

Then back to Aya's hostel, we joined with Shige and went to have lunch.


トルコ本国のトルコパンは美味いですねぇ。オーストラリアのトルコパンも美味いですけど、流石本国、それ以上です。でも、肉の味はオーストラリアのほうが美味いですねぇ。

I liked Turkish bread here. Turkish bread is god in Australia but it is better here. But Kebab itself is better in Australia.


昼飯後にケイコちゃんは空港に行かなければならないので、宿にてお見送り。

After lunch, Keiko had to go to the airport, so we saw her off at the hostel.

で、アヤ・シゲ夫妻と今後の予定を検討。明日の夜行バスでパッムカレに行く事に。さて、バスのチケットでも買いに行きますかね。

Then I was making a plan for next move with Aya / Shige. We decided to go to Pamukkale tomorrow evening. So we went to buy bus tickets.

イスタンブールはラテン語名「コンスタンティノープル」。ローマ帝国の主要都市、そして東ローマ帝国の首都だったんですね。なのでエジプトからオベリスクも拝借して来てます。

Istanbul is Turkish ame of "Constantinople" where was one of the main cities of Roman Empire and the capital of Byzzantin Empire. So a Caesar brought a obelisk from Egypt and put it on the plaza.


バスのチケットはスルタンアフメト駅周辺の旅行代理店で55リラ。夜の10時に出発で8時間でパッムカレに到着なので、バス泊ですね。

We found a travel agency nearby Sultanahmet tram station where we bought a bus ticket to Pamkkale for 55TRY. The bus is to leave at 10pm tomorrow and will get to Pamukkale in 8 hours.

夜はアヤ・シゲ夫妻と中華。が、しかしあんまり美味くない・・・。

We had Cdinner @ a Chiniese restaurant, but it wasn't that good...


宿に戻ってみんなと歓談。明日はPちゃんの誕生日なので、彼の好物アイラン1リットルをプレゼント。

Back to my hostel, I joined the birthday party (?) of P-chan. I gave him 1 ltr of Ayran as the birthday present.

0時を周って9月30日になり、22歳の挨拶をする、Pちゃん。なかなかイイことを言ってるのですが、その後ろのオチ君・・・

Passed the midnight, P-chan gave us a speech. Wel, he just truned to 22 years old. His speech was pretty god but his mate Ochi on the bottom left corner... 


さて22歳最初の行事、アイランを一気飲み!!!　

The first thing as 22-year-old, P-chan was to chug1 litre of Ayran!!!


見事飲み干した!!!　流石!!!

Yes, he did it!! Well done!


と思いきや、15分以内でリバース。大人の階段をまた一段昇ったPちゃんです。

But he went to the toiet in 15minutes... One more step, he stepped forward of  "the stair of man".

ビザンチンの最高峰アヤソフィア!　なかなか良かったです。Tree of Lifeの楽しい仲間とはちょっと別れがたいですが、明日から小旅行に行ってきます!!
