Day 742: 2012年8月7日

Nordkapp - Norway to Hetta, Enontekio - Finland (Cabin @ Ounasloma Oy)
78,314km to 78,767km = 453km

今日は朝から晴れです!　気分がいいですね、青空を見るのは。朝飯を食べて準備に取り掛かります。ロジャーがイタリアン珈琲を淹れてくれたので、またまたご馳走になりました。ロジャー、クラウディオとペペはワシとマグナスとは違う方向に向かうので、ここでお別れです。Buen viaje, mis amigos!!

Itwas sunny from the morning! Seeing the blue sly was really pleasing and I did feel really good from the morning. Having breakfast and we pucked up and got ready. Roger made me an Italian Coffee! Grazie!! Pepe, ROger and Cloudio were heading to another way from Magnus and I, so we said a good-bye to them. Buen viaje, mis amigos!!

さて、走ります。今日は天気がいいので、写真を撮るぞー。先ずはこれ。氷河で削られた断崖絶壁に海、そして青空。いいですねぇ。

As it was a god day, we made stops to take photos. The first photo taken of the day: a cliff made by glaciers, blue sea and sky. A very nice view indeed.


実際の風景はもっともっとキレイなんです。写真では伝わらない美しさ。是非ともノルウェーに行っていただきたい。

The actual view was much beter than the photos. With my technique and camera, I could not capture the beauty of the scenery. I really recommend you to visit Norway. It's worth going that far!


フィヨルドの湾にある小さな集落が可愛らしい。マグナスはグリーンランドで以前働いていたそうですが、そこの集落を思い出させる風景だとか。

A small village at a bay of Fjord. Those houses looked really pretty. Magnus used to work in Greenland and this scenery reminded him of the vilage he used to live there.


フィヨルドの淵を走り抜けます。カーブを抜けたら、マグナスが停車しました。何だろう?とおもったら、「道に石が落ちてたろう。バイクが来たら危ないから、取り除きに戻るからここで待ってて。」と。なんて素晴らしい。ワシは石を見て、「あ、危ないな。」と思っただけですが、マグナスは他の人のことを自然に考えて行動できるんです。ワシは痛く感動しました。以前にブラジルのプリニオさんのご友人の話を紹介させていただきましたが、スウェーデンの人は本当に素敵ですね。ワシもマグナスのようになりたい。

We rode along side of Fjord. When we rode through a curve, Magnus made a stop. I was wondering why he stopped. And He said to me "Did you see some rocks on the road? They would be dangerous those bikers passing, so I will go back to pick them up. Please wait for me here." How wonderful person he is!! I just thought Oh, those rocks are dangerous." when I saw them. But Magnus can think of others very naurally and he would take an action. I was very touched with his thought and act. Before, I shared a story of a friend of Plinio, those Swedish people are really wonderful. I hope I can be like them one day.

海底トンネルを抜けて、本土へ。海底トンネルは6キロの長さでした。

We crossed the underground tunnel and back to the main land. The tunnel was 6km long.

ちょっと高度が上がると風景はまるでアンデスのアルティプラーノ。

Once we are off the coast and climbed up little high, the scenery became ust like Altiplano of Andes.


荒涼とした世界が広がります。

A desolated landscape.


が、ちょっと視点を変えると、海が見えるんです。素晴らし風景です。

But if I turn my eyes a little, there was a view of the sea! Wonderful.


もちろん、トナカイの群れがちらほら。

Of course, there were many many reindeers on the way.


そうそう、ノールカップのステッカーをエスペランサのフロントスクリーンに張りました。これはマグナスが買ってくれたんです。

Oh, I put a sticker of "Nordkapp" N71°10'21" on the front screen of Esperanza. Magnus bought it for me!


こんな感じです。エスペランサがますます精悍に。あ、オーストラリアの国旗がまた剥がれてしまいました・・・。

She looks eern better with te sticker. But the Aussie flag peeled off again..


ラクセルブ（Lakselv）という街で食糧の買い出し休憩。カフェでワッフルと珈琲を頂きました。

We made a stop at a town caled "Lakselv". While Magnus was in a supermarket. I was checking the egine oil level. Then I heard someone calling me. There was an old gentleman asking to join his for a cuppa. So I had a cuppa with him.


この街にはなんとマグナスのグリーンランド時代の友人が住んでいるんです。街の獣医さんのマリオットさん。とうぜん彼女はマグナスが訪ねてくるのを知らなかったので、ビックリ!!　3年ぶりの再会だとか。

Why we made a sto here? Well here is a friend of Magnus in his Greenland years. Mariot is a vet of this town. He did not tell her he was coming, so she wasreally surprised to see him there! It's been 3 years!!


彼女は冬のグリーンランドやアラスカをハスキー犬一頭とソリ、そしてスキーで旅をするツワモノ。こんな素敵な女性を奥さんに欲しい。

Magnus told me that she exlores Greenland andAlaska in winter with a Husky with a sled and herself in ski, Wow, I would love to have a pertner like her!

マリオットさんとマグナスとしばらく歓談。ノルウェー、スウェーデンの社会について、暮らしについて、そして日本について。マリオットさん曰く、「自分自身のことだけを考えていたら、幸せに離れない。やはり他人のことを先に考えて行動することによって多くの幸せがもたらせる。」、そうです。特にグリーンランドやノルウェーの北部のような自然の厳しいところではそれが身にしみてわかるそうです。マグナスもグリーンランドで多くを学んだとか。

At her clinic, having a cuppa, we talked for a while. We talked about lives, societies and systems in Sweden, Norway and Greenland, and those of Japan. Mariot said "if people care about themselves only, they cannot find happness. Greater happiness coming from thinking about and acting for others." Especially places like Northern Norway and Greenland where the nature can be reall harsh, people realise how important to help each other. Magnus said he learnt a ot in Greenland too.

昨日マグナスに訊いたんです、「何故スウェーデンは今のような政治システムや社会制度を作り上げることが出来たの?」と。そしたら、「我々がこうだから、政府もそうなる。彼らは我々の欲してることがわかってるんだよ。我々スウェーデン人が選んだ政府だからね。だから政府は人々が幸せになるように政策を造り、運営するんだ。」

I asked Magnus yesterday, "Why Sweden could establish crrent political, social systems which seem to be working very well?" His answer was, "We chose the government, so they now us very well. As we are like this, the government will be like us.".

民主主義のシステムが理解され、ちゃんと機能しているように見受けられます。

They do understand the principle of democracy and do not take it for granted at all.

北欧人の考え方、生き方、社会にこれからの我々の進むべき道のヒントがあるように思えて仕方ありません。本当に彼らは素敵なんです。しかしマリオットさんとマグナス曰く、「最近は北欧人も利己主義になってきた」そうです。

I think there are lots of great examples the rest of the world could learn from Scandinavians. To me, they are really wonderful people. But Mariot and Magnus said, "Nowadays, Scandinavians are becoming more selfish."

もちろん、北欧人のやりかたそのまま日本に当てはまれるわけではありません。我々はいろんな点で違いますし、自然も風土も違います。しかし、「これは我々の文化だから」で済ましてしまっては何も進歩がありません。大きな視野を持っていろんな可能性を試していくべきでしょう。

Of course, we cannot adapt the ways of Scandinavians as they are. We are very different in many ways,and  the nature / climateare very different. However, it would be eas to say, "This is our culture and that is their culture", and if we say that, there will not be any progress what so eer. We must have greater views and must try out different ways to make ourselves better.

マリオットさんに別れを告げ、しばらく走り遅い昼飯を清流が流れるレストエリアで。サンドイッチの簡単な昼飯ですが、最高のロケーションと友人と食べるので格別です。

We said a good-bye to Mariot and rode for a while. We ade a lunch stop at a rest are, where a clear creek streams through. We just had sandwich, but with nice view and good friendship, it was a great lunch.


そして39カ国目、フィンランドに入国!!　

Then I enterd the 39th country, Finland!!


もう5時手前なので国境を越えてしばらく走って、「サウナに行こう!」ということになりました。キャンプ場には大体サウナがあるらしいのですが、サウナがあるキャンプ場はキャビンが満室（テント2つ張るよりキャビンをシェアしたほうが安い）。何軒か周り、キャビンが2人で22ユーロで近くのホテルのサウナが6ユーロで使える、というのでそこにしました（フィンランドの通過はユーロなんです）。

After we crossed the "border", it was already 5pm, and we decided to go to a "Sauna"!! So we stoped at a own "Hetta". usally there is a sauna facility at a campsite, but 2 of the campsites with a saua facility had all cabins booked out (it would be cheaper to share a cabin than pitchng 2 tents). The 3rd one we asked had a cabin for 22 Euroes and they can organise with anther hotel to use their sauna for 6 Euros. So we decided to stay there.

夕飯はマキを燃やして炭にして、ソーセージを焼きます。ソーセージを刺す串を作るマグナス。

Magnus proposed to grill sausages. We barned fire woods and made them into charcoal, then we cooked sausages. He made skewers from branches.


ソーセージを焼きます。美味い!!

We grilled sausages like that! Yum!!


夕食後ホテルのサウナへ。サウナはフィンランド語なんだそうです。サウナの発祥はフィンランドなのか、スウェーデンなのか、ノルウェーなのかマグナスも、サウナで一緒になったフィンランド人の兄ちゃんたちも知りませんでいたが、面白い文化ですね。北欧で初サウナです。本場のサウナ。本当は湖や川に飛び込むと最高!なんだそうですが、生憎湖は数百メートル先。でもサウナに入ってお肌スベスベです。

After dinner, we went to he sauna. The word sauna is Finnish. Magnus nor those Finnish guys at the sauna did not know where the traditin of sauna started, bt who came up to the idea of sauna is genius. It was my first sauna in North Europe. Well, it's authentic. Actually, if there were a river or a lake, they would jump into the water!! I wouldn't dare that. After having sauna, my skin became so smooth!!

もちろん、サウナ内の写真はありません。みんな真っ裸です!!

Of course, there is no photo in the sauna!! Everyone was bear naked!!

さて明日は途中までマグナスと走りお別れです。寂しくなるなぁ。

Tomorrow, Magnus will be heading to Sweden. I will miss his company...

やはり北欧はいろんな点で進んでいますね。大いに学ばされます。これからも旅を続けながら色々学び、得た知識、経験を日本に持ち帰り、社会のために役立てたいです。
