今日は8時に「Motoservi」に行って塗装を始める前にもう片側もマスキング。念入りに新聞紙を貼ります。結局作業が終了したのは10時半!!　エスペランサと「Motoservi」従業員とで記念撮影!　

それから塗装作業に入ります。ワシが椅子に試し塗りをしましたら、ムラが出来るのでハイメさんがエンジン・バーの闘争を担当。見本を見せてくれます。先ずは下塗り。乾くのを待って本塗り。キレイに仕上がりますね。流石!!

それから塗料を黒に変えてパニア・フレームを。今度はワシが。しかしスプレー・ガンを近づけすぎたためムラが・・・。ジミーが見かねて代わりに担当。ハイメさんほどではないですが、キレイに塗りますね。これも2度塗り。

乾くのを待ってパニア・フレーム取り付け部やサブフレームなど細かい部分はブラシで手塗り。12時過ぎには仕上がりました。エンジン・バーのオリジナルの色と今回使った色は若干違うので、マスキングされていた部分と塗りなおした部分とでムラがありますが、まぁ、いいでしょう。これでウユニの塩害対策はバッチリです!?　マスキングをするのにずっと屈んでたのでエラく疲れました。

昼飯を食べて宿に戻り、シャワー。そして昼寝。3時に学校へ。今日は再帰動詞（Verbos Reflexivos)の説明を受けた後点過去（Preterito Simple)を重点的に。どういう状況では点過去を使うのか、動詞による活用の違いなどきちんと説明してくれるのでわかりやすいですね。

宿に戻りトムとトムの連れオージーのコーリと歓談。夜7時過ぎに夕飯へ出かけました。彼らがウユニで出会ったオージー＆イギリス（パット、リサ、マット、ケリー）のグループと飯屋で合流。しかし、ここの飯屋はあまり美味そうではなかったので、一杯だけ飲んで「Joy Ride」というバー・レストランでみんなでタコス40個をシェア。メキシコ式タコスではなくてテックス・メックス式でしたが美味かったです。

それからトム、コーリ、マットと他のパブへハシゴ。ここでは生バンドの演奏が始まりました。飲み物をオーダーして飲み始めたら、お姐さんが来て「バンド鑑賞代1人10ボリね」というので「そんなの聞いてないよ」とちょっとムっときましたね。しかも最初の2-3曲はバンドが噛合ってなくてヒドイ出来。リーダーのギターテクニックはなかなかのものなんですがね。

しかし女性ボーカルが登場し、段々と良くなっていき、最後のほうにはみんな楽しんでました。地元の人と話したり、パブの閉店時間3時までいました。いやー、久しぶりに夜遊びをしましたね。昼寝をしたとはいえ流石に今日は疲れました。

I went to "Motoservi" at 8am this morning and started to put more msking on my GS. I completed the one side yesterday, but it was 10:30am when finally I completed the task! So tired.

Then we started to paint with a spray gun. I practice first with a metal chair, but I could not paint evenly. So Jaime showed me how to do it and he painted very well on the engine bar. He painted once and waited to get it dry, then applied more paint on top of it. The finising was pretty good.

Then we changed th ecolour to black and I started to paint the pannier frame. But I placed the spray gun to close to the frame, so again, I painted unevenly... Jimmy took over the job and he did it well. We applied the paint twice on the pannier frame as well.

Waited it to get dry, then I started to hand paint on some chips on the sub-frame and the side stand with a brush. THe colour we used for the engine bar was a little different from the original colour, so there was inconsistency between where was repainted and not. But it looked all right. As I was squwatting while masking my GS, I was so so tired.

After lunch, I went back to the hostel and had a nap. At 3pm, I went to the Spanish class. Today I studied Verbos Reflexivos and Preterito Simple. Lulu explained me very clearly, so I could understand them very well (I reckon).

With TOm and his mate Coli from OZ,  I went out for dinner. We met their mates from UK (Matt and Kerry) and OZ (Pat and Lisa) at a restaurant. We had Tacos! They were Tex-Mex style but were really good. Then, we - Tom, Coli, Matt and I went to a bar next door where a live music was about to be played. We ordered drinks and started to drink. And a girl came to our table and said "10Bs each for the live music." We weren't happy as we were ot told that previously. Anyway we paied 10Bs each. The band started to play, but the first few songs were quite bad. They were out of the rhythm. But the leader - the guitar player - was pretty good.

Then a female vocal appeared. After she came along, the band jus got better and better! We enjoyed their performance a lot and really had a good evening (till 3am!).

今日の朝ようやくPaypal問題が解決し売り手に送金できました。早速売り手から返信が有り、今日の午後3時に発送するとのこと。これで後は待つだけ!?　

それから「Motoservi」へ。エンジン・バーとパニア・フレームをペイントするので先ずはヤスリをかけて錆びや剥がれかかったペンキを落とします。この程度でいいだろう、と思って手を休めると、若い衆の頭ジミーが、「まだまだ」と。厳しいな、おい。ペンキ・スプレーを使うので下地をスムースにしておくと仕上がりもキレイ、ということなんですね。

ジミーも手伝ってくれて、彼のGOサインが出たのはもう12時過ぎ。昼休みです。午後は2時半から再開なのですが、学校が3時からなので続きは放課後ということに。昼飯を食べて宿に戻ります。

2時半過ぎに学校へ。先生は「ルル」。若いキレイなお姐さんが良かったのですが、3児の母、オバさんでした。残念。でもいい先生みたいですね。

ワシのスペイン語レベルを知るため、また弱点を見るため、最初の1時間は会話です。そして珈琲を飲みながら「人生において最も重要な3つの出来事は?」との質問に対して答えます。これは過去形の使い方を見るためですね。スペイン語には「点過去」と「線過去」と2つの過去形があるのです。

そしてルルから「何を重点的に学びたいか?」、と訊かれました。まぁ、「会話重視で、やはり点過去と線過去の使い分けがよくわからないので、それ」と応えました。ルルは「そうね、点過去と線過去とレフレキシーボね」と。スペイン語では目的語が動詞の前に来るというパターンがあるのですが、イマイチそれが使いこなせていないんですね。

なので残りの時間はこの2点の説明。そして宿題は「新年は何処で、誰と、どのように過ごしたか?」について書くというもの。点過去と線過去を沢山使わなきゃ、ですね。

放課後一旦宿に戻り、売り手からの連絡を確認しようとしましたが、まだ無し。「Motoservi」に戻り、新聞紙を使ってマスキング。しかし範囲が広いし、ただ単に新聞紙を被せるだけじゃないので結構時間がかかりました。6時に始めて片側が終わったのは8時前。明日は片側を塗ったら反対側にマスキングして塗る、という感じになりそうですね。

夕飯を食べて宿に戻り、シャワーを浴びてメールをチェック。アダムは2-3日でこちらに来るそうです。ウベもあと1週間くらいで来れそうな感じ。再会が楽しみですね。

そしてナスカで出会ってアレキパで再会したスイスのトムがやって来ました!!　本当はウユニで再会と予定だったのですが、ここでの再会となりました。これでしばらくは楽しくなりそうですね。

まだ、売り手から発送確認の連絡が無いのですが、大丈夫ですかね!?


Day 417: 15 SEP 2011

This morning, finaly I could sort out the issue with Paypal and could send the payment to the seller. He contacted me immeiately and said he would ship the shock out around 3pm today and let me know the traking ID. Good.

I went to Mooservi to repaint the engine bar and the pannier frame. As we will be using a paint spray, I had to make the surface where to be repainted smooth.

WIth sand papers, I got rid of rust and old paint off the frame and the bar. Jimmy, the leader of the  young lads @ Motoservi checked my job and said "More!" whenever I stop smoothing.

He helped me out as wel, and finally he said "OK" after 12noon. Now everyone was on lunch break and they would come back after 2:30pm. As I had to go to the Spanish lesson at 3pm, so I told them I would be back after 5pm.

I went to the class at 3pm. My tearcher is a lady caled "Lulu". She seems to be a nice teacher. The first 1 hour was just chatting to see my Spanish level and what my weakness would be.
Then having cuppa, I answered to a question "What are the 3 most important ivents in your life?" This was done because she wanted to know how I would use past tense. Spanish has 2 past tenses, but I am still confused with those 2.

Then sheasked me what I would like to improve in this class. I said improving conversation skill and collecting my grammer. So she will focus on those 2 things and 1 more thing - reflexivo. 

I got a homework today - an essey about "Where, how and with whom I spent the new year's day". So I have to write lots of past tense!

Back to the ostel once to see, if the seller sent me the tracking ID, but he hadn't....

Then I went back to Motoservi, and started masking my GS using old news paper. But it took time as covering area was huge and the shape of the bike is pretty complicated. I finished one side just before 8pm. So tomorrow, I will paint one side first, then will make masking another side to paint.

Back to the hostel, I checked the e-mail and Adam said he would be here in 2-3days! And Uwe would be heading to Santa Cruz and would be there in 2-3days. So I can see them here in Sucre!

Then Tom, I me him in Nazca and reunited in Arequipa, came to Pachamama! He will spend few days here, so my life here in Sucre would be more exiting!

But I have't received the tracking ID from the seller. Has he sent the package out yet!?

Day 416: 2011年9月14日

今朝チリのWilbersディーラーからメールで連絡がありWilbersのESAショックは1,200米ドル位と（ESAユニットはもちろん持ち込みです）。ドイツからのエクスプレス・デリバリーで今日発注して来週の水曜日には届くそう。そうなるとチリ行きは日曜日か週明けになりますね。交通費などを考えると、このオプションの魅力は失せました。しかしWilbersのショックは欲しいですね。

アメリカ合衆国からの個人売買のほうはショックが455ドル（BMW純正ESA用ショック。ESAユニットはなし）。発送に98ドルで6～10日間かかるそうです。こちら魅力は価格が安いこととスクレにいながらスペイン語教室に通ったり時間を過ごせることですね。

チリまで行きWilbersを購入すると全額で1,500ドルくらいになるのでアメリカからBMWショックを購入して、更にヨーロッパでWilbersを購入するのとほぼ同じ金額になるのです。なので結局アメリカから発送してもらうことに。

支払いは「Paypal」で行ったのですが、しばらく使っていなかったせいか、送金が出来ません。クレジット・カードの照合が必要だと。うーん、これで1～2日遅れるぞ・・・。

そうそう、昨日の腹痛は直りました。コカコーラ、恐るべし。食中りには、すきっ腹にコカコーラ。是非試してください。

朝飯を食べたらハイメさんに上記の旨を伝えました。ハイメさん曰く「いい選択だと思うよ」と。

宿に戻り昨日チリ行きの情報集めを手伝ってくれたマルコたちに上記の旨を。スペイン語学校を探さなきゃ、と話したら、「Fenix」という学校がイイと教えてくれました。

昼飯後早速行って見ました。個人レッスンは1時間40ボリ。2-4人クラスは30ボリ。午後のクラスしか今空いてないとのこと。まぁ、明日の3時から2時間コースを始めることに。

それから「Motoservi」に行きエンジン・ガードやパニア・フレームなどペイントが剥がれているところをペイントしようと行きましたが、ハイメさんは外出中。若い衆が「明日来ればいいよ。」ということでペイントは明日ですね。

宿に戻り調べごと。それから夕飯。

さて明日にはクレジット・カードの照合が出来るでしょうか??　ペイントに学校、明日はちょっと変化があって楽しみですね。そろそろアダムやウベもスクレに到着しますかね。

This morning I received a reply from the Wilbers dealer of Chile that a WIlbers shock for ESA will cost US$1,200. And it would take 6-7days to be delivered to Chile from Germany.
It is a good idea to fit a Wilbres shock (it's better than a stock shock), but the cost would be a little to high if I include the transport to Chile and back.

Another option, buying a BMW stock shock from the States would cost US$455 plus US$98 shipping (6-10days delivery), whick would be considerably cheaper.
WIth this potion, I can stay in Sucre and learn Spanish or doing something, but getting the same BMW stock shock, I don't really like. It might fail again.

Anyway, I went for the BMW stock option. I tried to send the money to the seller via "Paypal", but as I had not used the account for a long time, somehow I could not send the money successfully. Paypal needed to verify my credit card. So the shipping would ddelay for 1-2days....

After having breakfast, I went to "Motoservi" and told Jaime with my decision. He reckoned the decision I made was good one.

Back to the hostel, I told my decisions to those helped my with information on travelling to Chile. I asked them about Spanish schools and they recommended me to go to "Fenix".

After lunch I visited the school. A private lesson cost 40Bs for one hour. A group lesson (2-4 people) cost 30Bs. Tey had only afternoon class available. So I decided to take 2 hours lesson from 3pm starting tomorrow.

I visited "Motoservi" again as I wanted to paint on my GS. There are some parts (onthe engine bar and pannier frame) paint came off. Before I go to Salar de Uyuni, I want to pait them to avoid nusty corosion with salt. But Jaime wasn't there, so I decided to come back tomorrow.

So tomorrow, hopefully I can resolve the problem with Paypal. Paiting on my GS and attending school would provide me more exciting day.

Day 415: 2011年9月13日

今日は朝からお腹の調子が悪いです。昨日の昼飯のチュレータか夕飯のスペア・リブが中ったか??
こういう場合は朝飯を食べずにコカコーラを飲みます。コーラの炭酸が悪い菌を殺菌してくれるのです。

原サイクルのWナベさんから返信が有りました。オイルの分量と粘度について解答を頂きました。ありがとうございます!!　これで作業に取り掛かれます。








9時になったので「Motoservi」へ。ESAが付いているのでショックからバネを取るのに苦労。特別な「工具」を一から作ります。流石ボリビア。なんだかんだで「工具」が出来たのは11時半ごろ。それからショックからバネを取り出す作業に入ります。







ショックの下部を外すには大きなスパナが必要ですが、丁度あうサイズが無いのでこれも工夫して外します。しかし傷が付いてしまいました・・・。

ESAも取り外し（バネが外れると自然に下に抜けます）、ハイメさんがシリンダーの「注意」を読むと、「これ窒素ガス入ってるね。難しい作業になるよ。」と。あれ昨日このショックにはガス入ってるって言ったじゃん。

とりあえず昼休みなので午後また戻ってくることに。

4時ごろ「Motoservi」に戻ったらハイメさんは出かけてました。しばらくしたら戻ってきて、「ガスを注入するにはシリンダー上部にバルブをつけてやるしかないね。」と。うーん、あんまりいい考えではありませんね。

こうなると、チリ、サンティアゴのWilbersのディーラーまでリア・ショックを持って行き（バスで）そこでESAをWilbersのショックに取り付けてボリビアに戻ってくるか、アメリカから個人売買でESAのショックだけを購入しボリビアに送ってもらうほうがいいかも知れませんね。

宿に戻り、チリ行きを検討。他の宿泊客にバスの情報を教えてもらったり。チリに値段を問い合わせたりとやることがいろいろ。それからバス・ターミナルに行ってオルロ(Oruro)行きのバスの時間と値段を調べます。スクレからオルロ（8時間、50-60ボリ）、オルロからチリへの国境を越えてイキケ（Iquique)に行き（8時間、80ボリくらい）、更にバスを乗り換えてサンティアゴまで（25時間）行くのです。オルロ行きは午後9時か9時半出発みたいですね。

再び「Motoservi」へ行きハイメさんにチリに行き当たらしショックを購入するつもりと伝えました。ハイメさん的にも新しいショックの方がいい、との意見です。

宿に戻り再びチリに問い合わせ（値段を出してくれていないため）そうしたら、ESA用のショックはストックが無いため取り寄せるのに7日間はかかるとのこと。しｈかも値段は出してくれません。うーん、これはアメリカから個人売買でショックを購入かな。

そんなこんなで一日は暮れたのでした。

I had a bad stomach this morning. Probably what I ate for lunch or dinner was bad.... I was suggested by another traveller to drink Coca Cola to kill bacterias, so I did. So far so god. 

I received a reply from the BMW dealer in Japan regarding theviscosity of oil and the quantity of oil should be put into te shock. The info would be classified by the shock maker "SHOWA", so I cannot write them in this blog! Thanks to my dealer! Now Jaime would be able to work on my shock.

I went to "Motoservi" around 9am. As he reckoned it would be better not to touch "ESA" unit, so he had to make special "tools" to take the spring off the shock. I was amazed the idea he came up and how he could make those "tools". It was around 11:30am when he and his staff completed making the "tools".

To take off the spring, we had to unscrew the bottom part of the shock, but there was a spanner of correct size. So they tried with something else. It was unscrewed, but they damaged the bottom part of the shock...

After taking off the spring, the ESA unit came off from the shock itself easily. Jaime read the "Warning" on the cylinder of the shock. It stated "Contains high pressued nutrogen gas". And he said it would be difficult to put nutrogen gas back...

It was already lunch time, so I went back to the hostel. 

I went back to "Motoservi" around 4pm. Jaime came back from somewhere (he was asking his friend about the shock with gas), and he said to put the gas back, he need to make a valve on the top of the cylinder. But he wasn't really happy with the idea. He reckoned if I could get a new shock, it would be better. 

So now I have a few options.
1. Ordering a brand-new shock with ESA unit from BMW Santa Cruz. It would cost US$3,600 (with 10days delivery from Germany). This option is too expensive. 
2. Going to Dantiago, Chile where Wilbers dealer located to get Wilbers WESA shock. I sent an inquiry this morning and the replacement would take just 3 hours. The issue would be I have to travel to Santiago with the original shock and come back with a new shock. It will take many days to get to Santiago and corssong the border might not be easy as I am not taking my GS out from Bolivia.
3. Ordering a brand-new BMW ESA shock (without ESA unit) from the States (buying from a private seller). This would be the cheapest option, but I am not sure how much the shipping cost and how long it wil take to be delivered in Bolivia. Also as a BMW original shock tends to have oil leak, I prefer to have an after-market shock.

I went back to the hostel and checked how long and how much will be to Santiago. It will be 3days to get there by buses and US$100 or so one way. I went to the bus terminal to check the time to Oruro, where I change to another bus to Iquique, Chile. The buses leave Sucre on 21:00 or 21:30 daily and it will take 8hours to Iquique.

I went back to "Motoservi" and told Jaime that I was considering to go to Santiago to get a new shock and will come back here. He said no problem with that. 

Back to the hostel, I received an e-mail from Wilbers Santiago. As he does not have a shock for ESA on stock, it will take 6-7days to get to Chile!! He did not mention te price again...

So now, I am considering to buy the BMW shock from the States. Just lke this, one day has gone.

Day 414: 2011年9月12日

さて、今日は「Motoservi」にエスペランサを持っていく日です。

9時過ぎに宿を出発。「Motoservi」に到着したら丁度ハイメさんが出かけるところ。「今日は予定が詰まっているけど、オイルシール交換とオイル再注入だね。問題ないよ。2-3日で出来るよ。」と頼もしい返答。とりあえずワシの詳細を記入して、また右パニアの修理も頼みました（ラパスで修理しましたが、閉まりが悪いもので）。ハイメさん曰く「いつでも遊びに来ていいよ。」と。

歩いて宿に戻り、ネット検索。サンタ・クルスのBMWからは返事がまだありません（ESA付きリア・ショックの値段を問い合わせています）。

昼は近くの飯屋で。ステーキ定食12ボリ。それから散歩がてらスーパーに買い物。途中荷物山積みのBMW R1200GS ADVが歩道に停めてありました。荷物山盛りの上にスペアタイヤを前後一本ずつ運んでます。しばらくそこにいて持ち主が来るのを待ってましたが、現れないのでスーパーへ。

スーパーから戻ってまたADVのところにしばらくいましたが、持ち主が現れないので宿に戻りました。








3時過ぎに再び「Motoservi」を訪ねると若い衆が丁度リア・ショックを取り外しているところでした。スイング・アームとの取り付けネジが硬くてなかなか外れません。恐らくネジロックがしてあるのでしょう。

ようやく取り外したところにハイメさんが帰ってきました。明日作業に取り掛かると。そして「完璧な仕事をしたいから、オイルの粘度と量をネットで調べてみて」と。彼の経験から決めてもいいのですが、規定の粘度と量を入れたほうがいいに決まってます。また「少し粘度が高いオイルを入れるのはどうか調べてみて?」と。

早速宿に戻り、原サイクルのWナベさんに問い合わせメールを。そしてHorizons Unlimited (HU)とADVRiderのフォーラムにも問い合わせをしてみました。

夜は昨日に引き続き「El Parrillin」にて。今日はスペアリブを。30ボリ。ボリュームたっぷりで美味い!!　ボリビアの物価からすると少々高いですが、病み付きになりそうです。

夕飯から戻りメールをチェックすると、BMWサンタ・クルスから返信が。ESAリア・サスは10日搬送で3,600米ドル、25日搬送で3,000米ドル!!　高すぎる!!!　これは是非ともハイメさんにがんばってもらいましょう!!

Today I brought my GS "Esperanza" to "Motoservi". I got there around 9:30am and Jaime was about to leave for teaching in a school.

He checked on the rear suspension and said "Today I am busy, but it can be done in 2 - 3 days. I can replace the oil seal and refill oil." I was glad to hear his confident comment.

I resistered my detail and went back to the hostel. Jaime said "You can come here anytime you want!" Very friendly he is indeed. 

Back to the hosel I checkedon e-mails. I sent an inquiry to BMW Santa Cruz to find out how much a ESA rear shock cost. But there was no reply.

I had lunch at nearby restaurant and walked to the supermarket. On the way, I saw a BMW R1200GS ADV with full of luggages and 2 spare tyres. I wanted to see the owner of the bike and waited there for a while, but none turned up. So I went to the supermarket.

Back from the supermarket, the BMW was still there. So I waited there for a while but the owner did not come back.

I visited "Motoservi" after 3pm. WHen I got there, a young mechanic was taking off the rear shock from the bike. The botom bolt of the shock was really hard to take off.

When the young one took off the shock, Jaime came back. He said "I will look at the shock tomorrow. I want you to research on the web which oil viscosity should be used, the quantity of oil to be filled and if it is a good idea to fill oil of higher viscosity." He said he can do it without knowing those, but it would be better to rebuild the shock according to the specification of the manufacture. 

I went back to the hostel and sent an inquiry to my BMW dealer in Japan. Also I posted the questions to Horizons Unlimited (HU) and ADVRider. Hopefully I can get the answer by tomorrow morning.

I had dinner at "El Parrillin" again. I had grilled spare libs for 30Bs. It was a little expensive for Bolivian standard, but it was excellent.

After diner, I received a reply from BMW Santa Cruz. The cos of a ESA rear shock would be US$3,600 (10days delivery) or US$3,000 (25Days delivery)!! In this case, Jaime is my hope. Hopefuly he can rebuild the shock without any problem.
