Reached 40,000km. To Santa Cruz de la Sierra.
Day 400: 2011年8月29日

Cochabamba to Santa Cruz de la Sierra (Hotel Felimar)
39,605km to 40,075km = 470km

Hasta luego mi amigo!!

DSCF9307.jpgVilla Tunariで給油。

DSCF9308.jpgMonteroの手前でGSが総走行距離40,000キロを達成!!

「Puremium(プレミアム)」ってあります。

Day 400: 29 AUG 2011

Cochabamba to Santa Cruz de la Sierra (Hotel Felimar)
39,605km to 40,075km = 470km

I got up around 7:30am and had breakfast at Mercado. When I was back to the hostel, Jaime asked me to have breakfast with his family. He was so kind, but I had one already... I was ready bu 9am, and I said good-bye to Jaime and staff of hostel and took off.

Jaime recommended me to take a new highway to Santa Cruz (the northern way) rather than the old one (soutern way) as the road condition on the old one was not that good. So I took the nortern one.

The road went up to more than 3,000m high (around 2,500m high at Cochabamba) and it got cold!
Then till Villa Tunari - 150km away from Cochabamba, the road dropped to 230m high! And it got really hot!! The onboard themometer was pointing more than 40 Degree... I hadn't seen that hot for a long time.

Scenary was good. Clean creeks, beautful valleys, and more tropical plants as I was desending.

I wanted to refuel in Villa Tunari, but there was a really long queue... I was lining up or a while and the guy behind me told me "A motorcyclist doesn't need to line up!" So I went to the pump and got refuelled! Otherwise, I had to wait in the heat!! I had lunch there.

From there, the road became boring. So I just kept going. After riding a while, wind from the north was blowing really hard constantly. There was a section of fire on the road side and the wind was blwoing hard, so the road was covering by black smoke and was so hot going through!! It looked like the fire was spreading and would be out of control due to the strong wind.

I arrived Santa Cruuz before 5pm. As the Bolivian map of GPS was not skechy, I had to rely on the map on Lonely Planet. I found a petrol station with "Premium", so I went there. But they said as I had a foreign plate, I had to pay the foreigner price (it was 2nd or 3rd time that I had to pay the "foreigner price). I did not mind to pay more, but somehow they could not put my plate number in the system. So they could not sel petrol to me!! A local motorcyclist offered to use his number, but the staff said "No"...

I went to another petrol station, but there wasn't "Premium". I refueled "Gasolina Espeicial (regular) and the staff did not mention anything about the foregner price. When I was adding octan booster, a manager (?) and a security came tome to pay the extra asnI had a foreign plate! I told them that they should have mentioned that before the purchase.

She said if I did not like the price, I could dump the petrol and they could refund the money!! She said the law was 3months old and that was why they did not have any notice on the pumps...
As it would be more troubles to do so, I paid the extra... But I wasn't happy at all.

I did not plan to come to Sant Cruz initially, so I had no idea of accomodation with a motorcycle parking space. So I went to Japanese Restaurant "Ken" which was the orginal and sister restaurantof "Ken-chan" in La Paz.

The owner Kenji used to travel around South America on a motorcycle, so I though he might know where had a parking space.

Unfortunately he wasn't there and the staff and his wide did not know about accomodation with a parking space. So I had to look around the hostels. I went to those hostels on Lonely Planet, but none had a parking...

When I was riding on Calle Ayacucho, I saw a hotel with "Garaje (Garage)" sign. I went in and it cost 140Bs for private room with WiFi. Breakfast included. It was pricy, but I took it. Somehow I could not connected to their network...

Tomorrow I will go to a BMW dealer here and ask for 40,000km service and checking on the rear shock absorber.
I sent e-mails to them, but had no reply yet. So I wonder if they could service my GS...
