寒さとポーランドと誕生会 / Coldness, Poland and Birthday Party

Day 933: 2013年3月15日

今日は晴れ！

It's a sunny day! Yeah!

このまま気温をあげて降り積もった雪を溶かしてくれ！

I asked the sun to melt all the snow on the streets and roads.

と、思ったのも束の間、気温を確認してみたら、-10℃！

But I was heart broken soon after I check the temp outside... It was -10℃!

今日は天気が良くて気温も上がれば、近場にでもツーリングに行こうと思ってたんだな。

I was thinking to go for a short ride around here if the weather was good. But it was too cold!

朝飯の後にスーパーに買い出しに行こうとしたら、アルトゥールとボグタン兄弟が丁度訪ねてきた。

After the breakfast, when Friedel and I was about to go out to the supermarket, Artur and Bogdan brothers came to the house.

フレッドに用があるみたいだけど、「よし、皆でスーパーに行こう！」ということになり、スーパー「エデカ」へ。

They needed to speak with Friedel, so we all went to the supermarket "EDEKA".

買い出しが済んだ後は家に戻りしばらく閑談。ポーランド行きのバスについてなど。

After the shopping, we went home and had a chat. Artur and Bogdan told me about buses to Poland.

それから、エスペランサの点検。この前ボンまで走った時はフレームの件があったからちゃんと点検しなかったんだよね。

Then I went to the garage to check Esperanza. Last time when I rode to Bonn, I did not make a complete check as my mind was occupied with the sub-frame issue.

緩んでいるところ(まず無いだろうけど)、錆びや不具合は無いか確認。

I checked if anything coming loose and any parts rusted.

特に問題はなさそうだ。

Everything seems to be fine.

夕方にお向かいのフランツ&アンカ宅にてアンカの誕生会に。

In the evening, we went to Anka's birthday party across the street.

フランツはお酒を飲まない、っていうのにバーでお客さんをサーブしている。

Her husband Franz does not drink any alcohol (just like me!), but he was serving beer and other liquor to the guest all the time!

あ、ここにも生豚挽肉が！

Oh, here is raw pork mince!

これ大好きなんだ。

I love this stuff!

ドイツ人はちょっとシャイで、まぁ、ワシ見たいな知らない人にはなかなか話しかけてこないんだけど(ワシがドイツ語を話せないのもある)、だんだん慣れて来るんだな、これが。

Germans are usually shy and would not easily come to talk to a stranger like me. Well, it's partly because I don't speak German. But once they got to know me, they sat down and asked me many questions.

ドイツ人は皆英語が堪能、ってイメージだったんだけど、40代後半から上の世代はあんまり英語を話す人は少ない、という感じ。

I thought all German would speak good English but those in the middle 40s or above do not speak much English.

旅の話をしたり、まぁ、皆の関心はバイクで危なく無いのかということと、3年もの間仕事もしないでよく旅が出来る、ってこと。

I talked about my trip. Well, everyone's interest was how I could make the trip for 3 years without working...

貧乏旅行をしたことが無いと、旅行といえば宿代とか食事代がメチャクチャ高い！、と思っていて、ワシは常にそんな風に3年間過ごしてきた、って印象になってしまう。

The most of people have the image of travelling is staying at nice hotels, eating out at the restaurants and visiting those sightseeing places. They usually think I have spent last 3 years like that.

安宿やテント、友人宅に宿泊したり、(写真はメキシコシティのペンション・アミーゴにて)

But I told them I usually stay at inexpensive accommodations (hostels, guesthouse etc) and at friends' places,

安食堂やスーパーで買ったものを駐車場で食べたり、自炊したり、(写真はパラグアイのイグアス移住区のペンション園田にて)

I usually eat at cheap local bistros, buying foods at supermarkets and eat them at the car parks , and cook at the hostels.

なんて感じの旅だよ、と言うと、「へぇ、そんな旅もあるのか」、ということになる。

I'm not sure if they got the picture but my kind of the trip can be done by anyone if they want to.

夜遅くまでパーティーは続くのだった。

Anyway, the party was on till late!
