Guildford (Mark & Claire's palce)

さて、今日は朝早くから電車に乗りロンドン市内へ。なんと往復のチケットは22ポンド!!それに市内の地下鉄1日乗車券を着けて合計で29ポンド。高すぎ晋作です・・・。乗った電車が鈍行で、ロンドン・ウォータールー駅まで辿り着くのに1時間以上もかかりました。

I caught a train in the morning to London. A return ticket cost 22 Pounds and with a day city pass cost 7.70 Pounds, so I paid nearly 30 Pounds for transportation... I caught an all stops train, so it tok more than 1 hour to get to London Waterloo.

9時半にカンと友人のジェームスとトラファルガー広場で待ち合わせをしていたのですが、到着したのは10時。ちょっと待たせてしまいましたね。カンとはサンディエゴでシゲさんとお世話になった以来の再会。もう2年近く経つんですねぇ。

I had an appintment with Kwun and his friend James at 9:30am, but I got there at 10am. Luckily they just arrived before me. It's been nearly 2 years since I saw Kwun in San Diego. Time flies.

















トラファルガー広場でちょっと写真を撮ってから、ウエストミンスター方面へ歩いて行きました。雨がちらほら。どうもネルソン提督が上手く写真に納まりません。

We took a few photos in Trafalgar square and then walked to Westminster. It started to rain a bit. I could not capture the monument of Viscount Horatio Nelson very well.

















ロンドンと言えば赤電話ボックス。

A red phone box. Very very London.























なんか人だかりが。

There was a crowd of people.

















馬博物館です。この仕事、かなり就きたくないですね。

It was "Horse Museum". It would be hard to sit on a horse all day and those tourists (including myself) taking photos. I certainly would not like to take the job.

















これが有名なウエストミンスター・国会議事堂のビッグベン時計台です。

This is famous "Big Ben" clock tower at the Parliament House.






































ウエストミンスター・アビーは直ぐ隣ですが、バッキンガム宮殿の衛兵の交代式が11時半なので、先にバッキンガム宮殿へ。人だかりが・・・。

Westminster Abbey was just there, but as we wanted to see "change of guards" at Buckingham Palace, we walked pass there. There was tons of people waiting for the ceremony to take place in front of the palace.

















しばらく待つと、後退の衛兵が行進してきました。

We waited there for a while and those replacing guards marching through the road towards the palace.

















しかし交代式は人が多すぎて殆ど何も見えず・・・。

But I could not see the ceremony at all as there were too many people in front of us.

軽く昼飯を食べて、ウエストミンスター・アビーへ。ここは王室の教会でもあります。そして王室、貴族、ニュートン、ディケンズ、ダーウィンなど著名人たちの墓地でもあるんです。

We had some pastries for lunch and walked back to Westminster Abbey. It is the traditional place of coronation and burial site for British monarchs. Not ony monarchs but those aristcrats and those contributed to the kindom are resting here such as Issac Nuewton, Charles Darwin, Charles Dickens etc.

















なかなかの構えです。入場料は16ポンド!!　高い。しかし入る価値はあります。

The entrance fee was 16 Pounds!! Very expensive.

















オーディオ・ガイドも無料なのでしっかりと説明を聞きながら見て周れます。が、しかし中は写真撮影禁止・・・。


A free rental audio guide was available for each visitor. So I could look around Abbey with better understanding. But no photo was allowed inside.

教科書で習った、エドワード3世、ヘンリー7世、メアリー一世、エリザベス一世、メアリー・スチアートなどの有名な王・女王の墓地やニュートンなどの墓地をみて、かなり得した気分。

Those kings / queens I leant in text books were resting there. Also tombs of Newton and Dickens, I could see.

メインの建物以外は写真撮影OK。

Outside of the main church, it was OK to take photos.

















ちょっとぶれていますが、イギリスでおそらく一番古いドアだそうです。1066年ごろのもの。丁度ノルマンディーからウィリアム1世がイギリスを征服したころですね。

The photo is out of focus but this is supposely the oldest door in UK. It was made around 1066 at the time of Norman Conquest.






















ウエストミンスター・アビー、今までの教会とは一味も二味も違ってました。入場料は高いですが、その分の価値はあると思います。

Westminister Abbey was very different from any other church / cathedral I have visited before. The entrance was expensive but it was worth spending.

それからケンジントン宮殿へ。

We walked to Kensinton Palace.

















ここはダイアナ妃が亡くなった時、大勢の人が彼女の死を悼み訪れた場所なんだそうです。今でも彼女に献花する人が絶えません。

Here many peeple came to mourn when Princess Diana passed away. There are people still putting flowers and/or cards at the gate nowadays.

















入場料が16ポンドと高いので、ワシはロビーで待つことに。ベンチに座っていたら、スタッフのおじさんが親切に話しかけてくれました。しばらく歓談。その後居眠り。

As the entrance fee was 16 Pounds, so I was waiting at the lobby while Kwun and James went inside. A staff came to talk to me (I must lok realy bored). We talked for a while and then I fell into asleep for a short time after he left.

6時にカンとジェームスが出てきたので、そのままパブで夕飯。カンもジェームスもイギリス料理気に入ったみたいです。

At 6pm, Kwun and James came out, so we went to a pub to have dinner. Kwun and James liked British cuisine too!


















なんとユニクロが!!　世界進出しているのは知ってましたが、ここにもあるとは。

There was a Uniclo store! I knoew it came to Europe but I did not expect to see one there.


















明日は朝7時にパディントン集合なので、ワシは一足先にギルフォードに帰りました。マーク&クレアとちょっと歓談。
なんとマークの弟がエリザベス女王と会うことになったとか!!　こりゃぁ、光栄ですね。

As I had to be in Paddington at 7am tomorrow morning, I went back home early. Back home, I chat with Mark & Claire a bit. They told me Mark's brother was going to meet the Queen!!

明日は5時前に起きなければいけません・・・。早く寝ようっと。

I have to get up at 5am... I will go to bed now.

Day 711: 2012年7月8日

Cholderton near Stonehendge to Guildford (Mark & Claire's palce)
72,261km to 72,538km　= 277km

今日は晴れ!!　ようやく、ですね。9時半には出発。

It was sunny!! Finally, finally. I left the hostel by 9:30am.

ストーンヘンジはカンのために取っておく、と昨日書きましたが、ハイウェイを走っていると目の前に見えるではないですか!! （写真で見えますか??）

I wrote I would save Stonehenge for Kwun, but when I was riding on the highway, I saw it in front of me (can you see it in the photo?).

















なので、ちょっと寄ってみました。が、しかし、曇っていて写真写りが悪い。

So I went to the site and see it (just from outside). But it got cloudy.


















ストーンヘンジ、話には聞いていましたが意外に小さいです。

Stonehenge, it was smaler than I imagined. Actually some people had already told me that.

近くの街去ソールズべリー(Salisbury）に寄ってみました。ここは中世の街並みが残っていて、かなりイイ感じ。古い時計台。Then I visited nearby city Salidbury. The old town of Salisbury still keeps Medeaval town looks.






















聳え立つ尖塔で有名な大聖堂。イギリスの街も素敵ですね。

Cathedral of Salisbury is famous for its high and pointed spire.






















それからボヴィントン(Bovington)にある「戦車博物館（The Tank Museum)」へ。途中畑や丘陵が広がり、美しい。が、しかし、路肩が無いので停まって写真を撮ることができません!!

Then I visited the Tank Museum in Bovington. On the way, those country side sceneries were so beautiful. But there was no side shoulder on the road, so I could not take any photo!

戦車博物館があるボヴィンドンは軍の施設が多く点在する地域です。博物館の駐車場に入る前から、戦車がお出迎え。

Around Bovington there are quitea few military facilities. A tank greeted me in front of the museum.

















博物館への入館は12ポンド!!と高いですが、戦車に次ぐ戦車!!

The admision cost 12 Pounds!! It's expensive, but I could see loads of tanks!


















第1次大戦時の初期型戦車「マークII」。

This is British "Mark II" tank. One of the earliest tank built in the world.



















戦車は塹壕などの敵の陣地突破のために開発されたんです。第1次大戦で両軍とも陣地で横着状態に陥り、打開策として登場したのが戦車。

Tanks were engineered to go over enemy's line fortified with trenches, ditches etc. In the WWI, both sides stuck at the front for a long time, so they needed to come up with a new machinery to overcome the problem.

"Chieftain" - the icnic British tank.


















戦車の砲。真ん中の3本は120mm砲です。巨大です。

Many barrels of tank guns displayed. 3 in the middle are 120mm calibre guns. They are really huge.

















第2次大戦時のアメリカ軍を代表する「シャーマン」。

第2次大戦時のドイツ主力戦車「タイガーI」。デカイ!!

"Tiger I" WWII Geran tank! It's mussive!!!

















もっと沢山ありましたが、ここでは割愛させていただきます。充分楽しみました!!

There were more tanks and detailed history behind them. I really enjoyed seeing those tanks.

そうそう、HUのミーティングで聞いたのですが、ここの近くでアラビアのロレンスが亡くなったのだとか。その場所を探していると、なんと戦車が路上に!!

Some at HU meeting told me that the place where Lawrence of Arabia died nearby the meuseum. So I went to find he place. I asked a few people, but I could not find it. Then I saw a tank on the street!!


















すげえぇええぇえええーーー!!!

I was very very excited to see one in action!

















結局アラビアのロレンスは見つからず、ルルワース城(Lulworth Castle)を訪ねて、

Then I went to Lulworth castle.

そうなんです、ここはイギリスの南の端なんです。イギリス海峡を越えたらフランスなんです。

Here is the south coast of the Great Britain. So across English Channel, France lies.

















景色が美しい。

緑の丘陵と青い空。すばらしい。

The contrast of green, blue sky and the sea was so good.

















ここから一気に東に向かいマーク&クレアが住んでいるギルフォードに。6時前に到着。チリのサンティアゴで別れて以来、半年以上振りの再会ですね!!　しばらく歓談した後、夕飯はチキン・マサラ!!　これはもうイギリスの国民食です。

I rode straight to Guildford where Mark & Claire live. It's been more than half year since I saw them in Santiago de Chile. After a long chat, we had Chicken Tikka Masala with rice. It is now considered as an iconic British food. So popular in UK.

















夕飯後、まだ陽があったので、ちょっと外に散歩。歩きながら色々な話をします。

After dinner, we
went out for a walk.

















夜遅くまで歓談。話がなかなか尽きません。

Then we talked till late. We had lots to catch up.

さて、明日はロンドン市内観光です。無事にカンと落ち合うことが出来るか??　

Tomorrow I will go to London to atch up with my old friend Kwun from San Deigo and his friend James.

Day 710: 2012年7月7日

Ripley - Derbyshire to Cholderton near Stonehendge (Chalderton Youth Hostel)

今日は曇り時々晴れ、って感じの朝でした。テントのフライシート、グランドシートを乾かすことが出来ます。

It was cloudy and sunny in the morning. So I could let my tent and ground sheet dry.


















まだ行き先は決めていなかったのですが、とりあえずウェールズ方面へ。昨日知り合ったマットと朝飯を食べながら話したり、ネットで行き先を調べたりと色々してたら結構時間が経ってしまいました。マットは8月からYAMAHA Tenere 660でオーストラリアを目指します。もしかしたら旅先でまた出会うかも。よい旅を!!

I had not decided where I was heading, but I had an idea going south west to Wales. I had breakfast with Matt I got to know last night. He is planning his big trip to Australia on his YAMAHA Tenere 660 starting this Auguest. Good luck with your trip, mate!

ポスティー・バイク（ハンター・カブ）のネイサンにお別れを告げて、

I said a good-bye to Nathan the Postie bike adventerer,

















そしてR1冒険野郎シャークにお別れを告げて、

and said a good-bye to Sjaak the R1 Adventurer.


















テントを撤収しているといろんな人が声をかけてきます。日本にも来た事がある（WTN-Jにも参加したそうです）パットとショウナを始めみんな親切にワシが向かおうとしている先々の見所を教えてくれます。が、一度に覚え切れません!!　

Then I came back to the campground to put away the tent and getting ready, many people came to talk to me. Pat and Sheonagh who rode through Japan during their RWT (they even attended a WTN-J event) and others tried to tell me the nice spots and route I could ride today. But there were too much information and I could not remember everything!!

クエンティンは2014年から世界一周を目指すのですが、去年南米を旅していたときペルーでWorld Dream Touringの山田さんと出会ったそうです!　「山田さんはワシの友達だよ」、と言ったら、ビックリしてました。彼はロンドン在住なので、「もしよかったら家に泊まってもいいよ。」と言ってくれました。ありがとう!

Quentin from London is planning to do a big trip in 2014. Last year when he was travelling in South America, he met my friend Tatsuya on BMW F650GS (Twin cylinder) in Peru! Such a small world! He offered me to stay at his place while I am in London! How nice!

結局出発したのは12時過ぎ。とりあえずA38号を南へ。

I left the campground after 12 noon! I rode towards south on A38.

しかし、雨が・・・。まぁ、チラホラだったんですけどね。

But it started to rain. A little,but raining, again.

途中「テュークスベリー（Twekesbury）」という地名が見えたので、ハイウェイを降りて訪ねてみました。

I saw a sign "Tewkesbury", so I got off the highway and visited the town.

















何故かといいますと、この旅を始めるまでシドニーのダーリングハーストのTewkesbury Avenueに住んでいたからです。

Why? Because I was living at "Tewkesbury Avenue", Darlinghurst, Sydney for more than 4 years until just before I started this trip.





















旅の資金を貯めるためにアパートをシェアハウスにして大体6-7人で同居。4年間楽しいときでした。全員と友達関係が築けたわけではありませんでしたが、今でもシェアハウスのメンバーは家族のように思えてなりません。

I shared the apartment with others in order to save up for this trip. I lived with 5-6 others a time. Not everyone became my friend but many of them are still my good friends. Or even more like my family.

なので、「Tewkesbury」って地名を見たら、そこに行ってみたくなったわけです。

That's why when I saw the sign "Tekesbury", I felt I had to visit the town.

南西に向かって走ります。途中「Barbury Castle」という看板が見えたので、そちらの方へ道を外れてみました。本線から外れて10キロ以上。が、しかし城らしいものは何も見えません・・・。辺りは羊たちが。

I was heading to south west. Then I saw a sign "Barbury Castle" and I turned off from the highway and followed the sign. I rode more than 10km off the highway and finally I got to the site. But I could not see anything like a castle. There were sheep around...


















トレッキング・コースになっているのですが、どうも城跡は見当たりません。雨も降ってますので、再び走り始めます。

There was a walking trail but I did not think that was going to lead me to a castle and it was raining, so I went back to the highway.

シレンセスター（Cirencester)辺りから雨脚が強くなり、ストーンヘンジ周辺に来たときには本降り。なので調べておいた宿に直行しました。

The rain got heavier around Cirencester. When I was around Stonehendge, it was pouring, so I rode straight to a hostel I checked last night.

宿は昨晩調べてドミトリーが20ポンドだったのですが、なんと遠足中学生でドミは占拠されていて個室しかありません!!　「50ポンド」、と言われましたが、「高い!」と渋ったら「ラストミニッツ価格で36ポンド」とまけてくれました。まぁ、それでも50米ドルなんですけど・・・。雨も降ってますし、仕方ないか。

When I checked the price last night, a dorm bed costs 20 ponds, but all dorms were filled with highschool kids!! Only a private room was available and the recepcionist said it cost 50 ponds!! I said it's too expensive and he said "well, it looks like none will come today, so I give you the last minute price of 36 ponds,"

Well, it was still expensive (US$50), but it was raining hard. So I decided to stay here. Just for a day.

シャワーを浴びてリラックス。マークとクレアとも連絡が取れて、明日からお世話になることに!　サンティアゴ以来の再会ですね、楽しみです。

I took a shower and am relaxing now. I could contact Mark & Claire and I am going to see them tomorrow! It's been long time. We saw each other last time in Santiago de Chile last October.

明日はドーセット(Dorset)の戦車博物館によってからマークとクレアの住むロンドンの南ギルフォード(Guildord)に向かいます。天気が良ければ海岸線を走りたいんですけどね。

I will visit The Tank Museum in Dorset, then will ride to Guildford where Mark & Claire live. If the weather is good, I will ride on the coast around Waymouth, Poole, Bournemouth etc to Guidlford.

え、ストーンヘンジは??　はい、サン・ディエゴから友人カンが明日ロンドンに来るんですね。なのでストーンヘンジは彼と行くことにします。

So how about Stonehendge? Actually, my friend Kwun is coming to London from San Deigo tomorrow. So I will visit Stonehendge with him.

あと、もう一つ、今日学んだこと１つ。「何とかセスター(～cester)」とか「何とかチェスター(～Chester)という地名はローマ時代の都市だったところなんだそうです。

I learnt one thing today. Any place ending with "cester" and "Chester" was build by Roman (Old English "ceaster" = "town", which is derived from Latin "castra" = "camp").

あ、今日は七夕でしたね。うーん、願い事は・・・。

Oh, today is 7th of July. Tanabata festival in Japan. I have to make a wish...

Day 709: 2012年7月56

Ripley - Derbyshire (Campground @ Lumb Farm)

今日は雨、雨、雨でした。平年の6月一か月分の雨が1日で降る、という予報でしたが、その通りでした。

The rain was puring from the morning. Yes, according to the forecast, it would have a month worth (June) of rain drops would be in 24 hours today!!

まぁ、今日はどの道プレゼンテーションに参加して1日過ごすつもりだったので、雨でもあまり関係ないんですけど、芝生ががグチャグチャになって歩きにくい!!

Well, I was planning to spend a day to attend presentations on site, so it was not a big issue if it's raining ornot. Bt all the fields were wet and muddy now making me hard to walk!

これでは明日のエディンバラ行きはキャンセルですね。雨の中走っても楽しいことは無いので。イギリスは現在平年には無い降雨量を記録しています。うーん、バイク乗りには嬉しくないですね。

I am now thinking not to ride to Ednburgh in this knd of weather condition. I would not enjoy riding in the rain anyway.

今日はネイサンのHONDA CT110（オーストラリアでは郵便局員が使ってるのでポスティ・バイクと呼ばれています）のシドニーからロンドンまでの旅のプレゼンテーションを聞いたり（彼の無計画ぶりがとても面白い旅にしました）、

Today, I attended the presentation by Nathan who rode his Postie uke (HONDA CT110) from Sydney to Lodon (his unplanned journey made the trip really interesting and unforgettale),

















コンティネンタルのタイヤ交換のプレゼンテーションを聞いたり、

Then I went to the presentation done by Continental Tyre - how to fix a puncture and change a tyre. It's always usuful to know how to fix the problem on the roadside by yourself.

















圧巻はスーパースポーツ・バイクのHONDA CBR900RR（1996年から1999年、40カ国）とYAMAHA R1（2001年から2006年、77カ国）で世界を駆け巡り、現在は北極点をR1で目指しているシャーク・ルカッセン(Sjaak Lucassen)のプレゼンテーションを聞いたり（シャークのホームページはこちら）。

The most memorable presentation was by Sjaak Lucassen who rode his HONDA CBR900RR (1996 - 1999, 40 countries)  YAMAHA R1 (2001 - 2006, 77 countries) around the world, rode up to Nord Kapp and DeadHorse in winter, and now is planning to ride to the north pole!!

































彼はR1でサハラを越えたり、アフリカの泥道を越えたり、シベリアを越えたり、真冬のノルウェーのノール・カップとアラスカのデッド・ホースに行ったりと、まぁ、究極のアドヴェンチャー・ライダーです。ワシはそんな極端な旅は楽しめないと思いますが、彼は楽しんでいるんですね。そして来年の1月にアラスカの最北端から北極圏の氷の上を走り、北極点行きのテストをするそうです。

He rode accross Sahara Dessert, through muddy rodes in Congo and  other African nations, accrossed Siberia. He did all in his Supersuports bikes!!

















まぁ、世界にはいろんなツワモノがいますね。でも、誰が誰よりも「エライ」とか「スゴイ」とかそんなことは決してないんです。「旅は旅を楽しむためにある。」これはワシの旅の師匠タカシさんの言葉ですけど、自分のスタイルの旅を楽しんでいれば（それが長旅であれ短期であれ）、その人は旅のエキスパートなんです。

Well, there are many extreme adventurers in the world and he is one of them. But as long as one is enjoying his.her trip in his style, I reckon the person is an expart of travelling/adventure. So extreme things would not make a person better / greater.

それにしても、シャークの旅に対する「好奇心」や「やる気」には本当に感銘を受けました。彼のスタイル、成し遂げたこと、目指していること云々を抜きにしても、旅人として「やるな」と思いました。

Butstill, I respect Sjaak for his curiousity, his willingness to make this deams come true and his focus to achieve the goals. HIs is a real traveler and adventurer.

彼のプレゼンテーションは8時から10時まで続き、拍手喝采。そんなこんなでもう夜も更けました。

His presentation went on from 8pm till 10pm and everyone atteded enjoyed listening his story.

さて、明日はここら辺は雨はあまり降らない予報ですが、エディンバラは雨のようです。

I enoyed a day like this. According to the weather forecast, it will be raining in Edinburgh tomorrow. So I am not riding north now.

そうなると、明日は何処に行きますかね??　日曜日か月曜日にはロンドンに到着していたいので、南に降りますか。

So, where would I go tomorrow? As I want to be in LOndon by sunday or monday, I would not go too far in the rain. I might go south.

Headington to Ripley - Derbyshire (Campground @ Lumb Farm)

今日は珍しく晴れ間がチラホラ。うーん、これはエディンバラまで行ってしまおうかな?　しかしいつ天気が変わるかわかりませんので、今日はHUのミーティングに参加して明日か明後日エディンバラを目指すことにしました。

There was actually sunshine this morning!! I was thinking to ride to Edinburgh today. However, the weather could change anytime, so I decided to go to Ripley to attend the HU meeting. I will ride to Edinburgh tomorrow or the day after.

朝飯はクランペットにイギリス名物「マーマイト (Marmite)」とチーズ!! マーマイトはイギリス版「ヴェジマイト (Vegemite)」というか本家本元。存在は知っていたのですが、食べたこと無かったので楽しみにしていたんです。「MA'AMITE」と綴りがいつもと違うのはエリザベス女王即位60周年記念ラベルだから。女王のことを「Ma'am」って言うんですね(「Ma'am」は「Madam」の略称です）。

I had Marmite and cheeseon crumpets! I knew about Marmite but I'D never tasted before. So I was thinking once I was in UK, I had buy a jar and taste it. The photo shown below is Queen's diamond jubilee special edition lavel. So it'S spelled "Ma'amite"!!

















味は??　限りなくヴェジマイトに近いです。マーマイトもヴェジマイトも外国人は敬遠する味。違う風味の味噌、って感じですが、扱いは納豆みたいなものですか。

How was the taste? Well, it was really similar to Vegemite. I would say, "Same, same, but different!" Both Vegemite and Marmite are hated by foregners, usually. It's like "Miso" soy bean paste but with different flavour.

グレイムは朝早く出勤したので（昨晩お別れをしました）、ジアとスクーターとインディゴに別れを告げて10時過ぎに出発です。次は日本で再会か、エクアドルで再会ですね。んじゃ、またね!!

As Graeme left to his work early (we said good-bye last night), I said good-bye to ZIa, Scooter and Indigo, and left there after 10am. I will catch up with Graeme and Zia either in Japan or Ecuador.

















ハイウェイを北上します。ミーティングが開かれるリプリー(Ripley)はあのダービー（Derby）の近くなんです。オックスフォードからは180キロくらいですかね。

I rode to the north on highway. Ripley is near Derby and some 180km away from Oxford.

天気は晴れたり曇ったり。晴れると結構暑くなります。最近ずっと湿気ってたのでヘルメットが臭いです。一度もパッドを洗ったことが無いので、これを機会に洗いますかねぇ。

It became sunny and cloudy time to time. If it was sunny, it got quite hot. As it had been wet and humid for a while, my helmet stunck!! I have never wash the paddings, so I should wash them.

そうそう、途中「Silverstone (シルバーストン）」とサインが出ていたので、ハイウェイを降りてサーキットに立ち寄ろうと。しかし今週末F1グランプリがあるので、サーキットに近づくにはセキュリティーを越えないといけないので、止めました(多分チケットを持ってないと駐車場にもいけない感じでした）。

I saw many signs "Silverstone" on te highway, so I got off the highway and went to see Silverstone Circuit. But as this weekend is the Formular 1 Prand Prix weekend, I had to go through the security check to get close to the circuit. So I took a photo on the road and went back to the highway.

















ガソリンスタンドでサンドイッチの昼飯を食べて、スーパーに寄って朝飯の材料を買ってから会場のラム・ファーム(Lumb Farm)へ。2時過ぎに到着。

I had a sandwitch at a petrol station and went to a supermarket to buy foods for breakfast, and then I went to "Lumb Farm" where the meeting is held. I arrived there after 2pm.

まだそんなに人数は集まってませんが、チラホラとテントも張られています。ワシは2日しか参加しないので参加費とキャンプ代で40ポンド。

There were not many riders arrived as yet, but some already pitched their tents on the lawn. As I would spend just for 2 days, so I paid 40 Ponds.

















早速芝生にテントを張ります。連日の雨で結構湿っていますね・・・。

I pitched my tent on the lawn. As it'S been raining, the ground was dumped a bit.

しかし、午後は晴れ間が広がり、気温も上昇。シャワーを浴びて、パンツやタオルなどを乾かします。

But in the afternoon, it got really sunny and hot. I took a shower and let my towel and underwear dry.

8時からプレゼンテーションが始まるので、それまで周りのバイク乗りたちと歓談。女性ライダーのクレアは来月から南アフリカのケープタウンまでSUZUKI DR400で単独で目指すとのこと。なかなか気合が入った姉ちゃんです。残念ながら彼氏がいるそうです・・・。

As the first presentation started from 8pm, till then I was talking with other bikers. I met Clare who is going for a big trip down to Capetown on her SUZUKI DRZ400 from next month!

夕方になり、雨が降り始めました。明日は1日雨だそうです・・・。

Then it started to rain hard!! I had to go back to the tent quickly and put away those hunged outside. It would be raining whole day tomorrow...

プレゼンテーションは「2週間の休みで最大限に旅を楽しむ方法」、「安くバイクの旅をする方法」です。2年間の旅を続けて今はワシにはよーーくわかることですが、プレゼンターの指摘することは的を得ていて大変為になる内容でした。とりあえず、なるべく軽く、簡単に旅をすることです。

I went to 2 presentations - "Well, I have only 2 weeks." and "Low budget adventure riding". After travelling on 2 wheels for 2 years, those things are obvious for me, but the presenters made really good points and their presentations were pretty usuful indeed.

明日はプレゼンテーションを聞いたり、歓談したりして過ごしますかね。

So, tomorrow it will be raining, so I will spend a day attending to presentations and chatting with others.
